As an American, I always enjoyed seeing Steve Coogan pop up in films, I’ve only recently discovered Alan Partridge and HOLY SHIT this man is amazing! In the last 2 months I’ve been devouring Alan Partridge content! British comedy is so much better than comedy here
I love " Alan " so much !!! Great comedy character 💯 I think " Paul Calf and Duncan Thicket " are hilarious too, very funny indeed 🤭 Steve is a genius. He's a proper comedic and acting legend.
Fun Fact: at 2:09 - the person that shout "Gravel!" is Mathew Horne of Gavin and Stacey fame (which is released by Baby Cow, Steve Coogans production company!)
'The man who thinks he's it' tour. Which featured pretty much every character, full band plus Simon Pegg/Julia Davis as support. Was the best live comedy show Ive seen. Quite a bit of it is featured here
It would be great to see how Paul Calf is coping in today's society!! A reunion podcast with fat bob would be perfect installment after the famous 90s video diaries.
seem him live many years ago in liverpool arena, still today i can remember most of the gags like knowing me knowing you sponsered by Kittie kat or whiskers, haha was a great night
Pegg appears on the Brass Eye Paedogeddon episode in stocks too. So many talented folks have appeared in tiny roles in these shows down the years before becoming more famous - you only realise when rewatching years later
How this man has not heralded the return of the Blazer for the young middle aged sophisticated man about town is staggering. What he could do for cuff links is a dream for the semi precious metal purveyor with his effortless style and seventiesesque coolness dominating the bargain DVD baskets at Asda or to a lesser extent Tesco.
@@bluetoad2668"String back leather driving gloves.. it's a look that says 'I'm in control of my vehicle ' " 😂. "Ice white socks with a double cadet stripe " 😂 sports casual classics
Paul Calf: "I was gonna get yer a complete dinner service for the wedding. Unfortunately my contact no longer works for Hilton Hotels. He currently resides at Risley Remand Centre, where the cutlery is plastic - for obvious reasons." 😂😂 maybe a misquote, I've not seen that one for years
Totally, and it's a shame that there was no sub standard US spinoff like the office - Partridge would've been huge over there. The character evolved brilliantly down the years
Disliking this video because it omitted Duncan Thickett singing Tom Jones Green Grass of Home. (If youve never heard it, it's maybe coogans most unbelievable impression.)
Partridge is miles better than most of his other characters, they just don't seem anywhere near as fully realized (fair enough) only Saxondale comes close for me.
The entire Live 'n' Lewd show was sheer perfection, a masterclass in performance.
Genius. An incredibly talented gifted man.
Pure brilliance. My comedy hero
Coogan is unique. His parody of narcissism, posh superficiality and patronising human characteristics is sheer comedic genius.
Excellent analysis
That also describes Coogan himself 😂
Sorry I didn't quite catch your name... Oh it doesn't matter.
AP isn't posh. He just wishes he was.
@@paddymeboy as are a lot of people who posture as being posh... 😁

Comedy which explodes with awkwardness
Coogan's characters particularly Alan Partridge evolve constantly and hit further heights

and Simon Pegg has a cameo in the last skit "lapdancing lady"
Steve does have that odd distinction of someone who can't do stand up as himself but in character he's a killer
Saxondale is such an underrated character ❤❤
I enjoyed the Saxondale TV series too.
Bonus Simon Pegg at the end there :)
I wondered if it was him 👍🏼
Utterly brilliant 😂

That peach polo shirt though🤣
Legend.
Classic stuff
Did you know that the person who shouted gravel is Matthew Horne, Gavin from Gavin and Stacey
'I'm a bit bit bit bit bit nervous'...yes I missed Duncan thicket too. But still classic Coogan! 👌

love the Cage Aux Folles / Marriot
1:00:32 - that's the hook from The Monkees' Randy Scouse Git, isn't it?
Is that Simon Pegg in the background during ‘Lap Dancing Lady’?
Yes, Pegg was in the partridge episode series 1 when he made the canal holiday promo & the farmers drop the dead cow onto Alan!
@@TheRussianize Yep, I remember that. Probably one of my all-time favourites. “You’re listening to - this morning’s farmer.”

He also embraced and popularised the late 90's trend of 'Sports Casual'

39:00 - the thing is... the Marriott hotel chain is actually pretty good... so not much of a joke
Like Piers Morgan - patronising - narcissistic- rude- and out of touch - Very precise and funny.Thank you.
Here here!
The person saying “gravel” is Mat Horne

Duncan thickett

Saxondale was just wonderful
I disagree. Bye...
The only good character is Alan..... everything else is like watching a Pontins show.
Boring
...we all love 'Alan' ...but Steve's other ...sometimes forgotten ...characters ...are equally ...if not more ...funny !!!
Alice Lowe and Steve Oram 💪💪 Bang on!
