In this Thailand vlog, we kick off the night at the famous Chiang Mai Sunday Walking Street to eat some of the best street food in the world! And, what better way to have fun than with a little challenge? Our goal is simple, to eat a five-course Thai street food feast for less than $5 USD total for 2 people. That’s a full dinner for less than $2.50 USD! To successfully beat the challenge, we need to have one drink, two appetizers, a main dish, one dessert and one drink each, which is 10 different dishes, all under $5. Let’s eat!

The Thai's herb wrapping in a stick is called "Miang-Kum" which Miang means snack and Kum means a bite.
The ingrediants inside a wrap basically are lime, ginger, red onion, peanut, roasted coconut, dried shrimp, chilli top with sweet-fish sauce

I’m sold on this couple. They are brilliant in how they pack, spend and travel. I wish my hubby helps with packing, but I can’t complain, he does all the rest.
At 4:58 it's unsalted milk to mix with tea. Add it and it's more delicious than before. It's fermented milk that is very delicious but it is recommended to combine it with a drink. You shouldn't drink it for nothing. I'm Thai. Thank you for coming to Thailand. ❤️

khao soi chicken is the signature of north Thailand such as prae, chiang mai, chiang rai. Good to hear you're happy with it!

I’ve been to the Sunday market many times I’ve been going long enough to remember when they had the same market on both Saturday and Sunday nights. I met a Thai lady there from BoSang in 1999 that became my friend and after a few years, she became my next door neighbor in BoSang when she sold my Thai wife land and I built a house on it.
I’d go to the Sunday market to eat but also to check out handicrafts Carvings, should as teak statues and teak wall carvings, I bought and displayed in my BoSang house or my house in the U.S. Even though it’s about a 20 minute drive from my house, and parking isn’t great, I’ll make it a point to go a couple of times in September =October. I tend to go to the local markets also. San Kamphaine has a nice Saturday market. As does Ton Pao, where I live, on Sunday. I attend that one just about every Sunday when I’m at my Chiangmai house. Thanks for the reminder about how great the Sunday market is.

Your $5 food challenge was really changing given both of you are vegetarian and the choices for vegetarian would be limited at night market.

The last “milk” is evaporated milk. Most thai drinks are even too sweet for thais so don’t be shy to ask for 50% sweetness. Safe travelling guys.

Normally it's will serve as a set of sha poo leaf ,onion,fried coconut,ginger,syrup made from sugar and kapi(shrimp paste)
and you have to cover it all by your self but the one you bougt is the portable version of it to make it easier to eat.

I'm happy to know Chang Mai is vegetarian-friendly. I'm not seeing too much dairy, which makes me happy because I'm lactose intolerant. Great food recommendations.Do Thai's use Milk or Coconut milk? Is there anything I should avoid that has hidden dairy?
Allot of Asians are lactose’s intolerant, coconut 🥥 milk is used in desserts and cooking.
I recommend if you order beverages in Thailand you can ask them to do less sweet or you can said it in Thai “หวานน้อย” wan noi . If you pronounce it wrong it gonna mean more sweet please lol. Hope this useful to you.
