Hello! Modcharter for the mod here! Thanks for checking out V.S RetroSpecter, we're very glad you liked the mod! ^^ I'll report that lamp bug. (Which by the by, those are called Spectral notes, just so you know. ^^) Seems to be a bit messy, lol. Thank you very much for the honest criticism and I'm super glad you liked the modcharts! Funny you mention NotITG, TaroNuke is one of my biggest inspirations, so I'm super glad I could make something fun with the limited api FNF uses. :) Thank you once again!
there are some fnf mods with pretty fun charts, not all of them might be difficult though. the funnest and most difficult chart ive seen is bushwack in zardy’s mod. the absolute most difficult non gimmicky chart ive seen is ghost in the camellia mod.
I am not surprised Ghost was mentioned there given iirc that one was charted to specifically be like other 4key games. Most of Camellia Mods stuff was. Bushwhack/Foolhardy are imo very fun but very hard. I kinda agree with her on slipping a single in a chord progression where a chord jack would have felt more fitting while keeping the speed. It's unique but it's awkward on the fingers albeit I personally have not gone for hard songs since I was doing Stepmania charts in high school.
i like the little text box when you use rhythm game terms that explains what it is, helps newer rhythm gamers so that people can actually understand what i’m saying LOL
EDIT: Seems that default notespeed fixes the lamp bug. Ouch. Hope the scrollspeed bug gets fixed. Being forced to play a super high scroll speed isn't fun... Mod charts don't have such high scroll speeds but "high scroll speed = difficulty" is a friday night funkin mod thing I suppose... (I know you guys don't like fnf too much but I'm actually taking a break right now I'm really burnt out :c These videos on the mods is what I'm leaving here while I take a 2 week break (that's why no subtitles, not too much effort put)) All in all, I did find the retrospecter mod enjoyable and very very nice to look at. I think I prefer the way this mod looks over the tricky mod and the gimmicks were way more fun. Although the tricky mod's mines were executed better and the charting for tricky was better as well. But hey, I don't really feel good saying 'this bad that bad'. I'm sure the focus of this mod is on the story, art and gimmicks moreso than 'charting quality' per se. Plus, fnf is still a very new community so they haven't found their own charting meta (or overarching style) yet. Also, another disclaimer is that my opinion and etc isn't be all end all about mods or chart or games. You can feel how you want about them!
It's okay if you take a break tokaku, we will still be here. I've never seen or played the RetroSpecter mod but it looks very interesting! I noticed that FNF mod makers put a lot of effort into customizing the UI and gameplay. It makes the mod look very enjoyable. Great video as always!

The vision notes hitbox is very heavily affected by the note speed and the note Quantinization for some odd reason, so it's hitbox appears like, a foot in front of its visual for some reason when you mess with those. Seems to affect the poison notes hitboxes too if only slightly (It's like some cruel punishment for messing with things that most Rhythm gamers normally use, hopefully that gets fixed in a later version of this mod)
the fnf community is improving with the days and it really puts a smile on me for seeing that it's getting more likely to competitive rhythm gamers. there were 3 mods which i enjoyed the chart: Retrospecter, Night of the funky bot and Camellia.
I am getting so ecstatic that even competitive rhythm game players are enjoying fnf. The game was super harshly bashed which was understandable but still kinda hurt. I hope y’all can enjoy the game as much as we do!
Good thing the mod is still a demo, so charting can be improved. One part that confuses me is that when you played ectospasm, something ocurred. The Spectre notes were not working right, the image of the arrows coming down like nothing was wrong in the song but having to hit them very early. First time seeing this happen to someone and I watched a lot of people play that same mod and not have this happen to them. I wonder what caused that to happen.
This is probably the only time I’ve ever seen the Ghost Note (from the 1st secret song) actually become a bit buggy, compared to other people where the note was fine for them.
From what I've seen, the ghost note hitbox (dont know if thats the right word) seems off center if you use downscroll, and you have to hit it earlier than usual
@@squiddu it's not note quantization causing it... I asked tzechi to try the mod the next day and he didn't have it on but had the same issue. I also tried the mod with default speed on stream but the note still needed to be hit early (although not AS early as before)
Ectospasm has a secret difficulty for loosing 7 times in a row. Trust me, its REALLY hard (only effects 7th attempt, to retry, u gotta restart the game)
True Hell; I did not realize the Lamp Notes required being hit early and would delay if hit on time, or is that the Kade Engine lagging because the Retro Mod is pretty intense. Also I heard Retro say on a stream that there will be an achievement for FC 100% Accuracy on Ectospasm Hell Mode.
@@voidtalongaming4637 Nah, I'd say that FNF is just very poorly optimised in general. The issues Tokaku faced in Fuzzy Feeling are things I've encountered in literally every mod I've played and even the vanilla game.

I tried the original scroll speed on the stream as well but I still needed to hit early >_> color quantization wasn't the issue either since I ask tzechi to try it the next day and he didn't have it on but it still needed to be hit early
It was like 1.6-2.0 or something and Spectral is originally at *3.0* (on hell) Normal that some things can feel awkward when you reduce the speed by a lot...
@@TBiscuit1 i dont get why fnf mod makers like to make a chart that has actual doable charting then put an inhuman speed. its not even fun and it just takes away the whole "scrollspeed being a preference" thing
It has more samples than original pieces of music, the character design of Retro is inconsistent with what he is and how he acts, the story is inconsistent, and the difficulty is unnecessary in more ways than one. This is actually one of the worst for me.
I feel like the only time where a chord then a single note is acceptable is when the player can have two hands one one button or do cross hands like on a mobile rhythm game, a drum instrument game, chunthim or SDVX as you can do a “one two” like that.
23:28 The other chart I remember doing that is some of the project diva extreme and ex extreme song. Though that feel like an unfair comparison cause the way you play project diva and FNF is really different
yes diva's charting allows that because of the ability to bind macros for game pad controllers, and for arcade, players use one hand to hit two buttons at once so it's not as weird (same with sound voltex). But you very rarely ever see that chord pattern with one extra note right after it. I've never seen it. I imagine most charters don't do it because that pattern doesn't fit songs and is uncomfortable and not very nice to look at
Funnily enough, I experienced the very same blue note lantern problem as you, contrary to what many of the comments are saying. I even had the default settings on. All in all, I really enjoyed watching this video and I agree with a lot of your points about the charting. Hard had fine charting, and for the most part Hell did as well, but there were just these 1 or 2 moments that felt awkward to play (Spectrum specifically on Hell mode and Ectospasm). Considering this is just a demo mode and it already looks very promising, I hope Retrospecter and the mod team find this video and take your criticisms to improve upon the gameplay because there is a lot of potential here and I'm looking forward to it. By proxy of the above mentioned, I hope this video gets a lot of views and a lot of people see it, what you said is very interesting and true stuff that mappers should keep in mind when making charts.
This video was really informative! It’s nice to see good valid criticisms and solid suggestions over hate comments... the charting in the mod has been a controversial topic within the people that have played it. So it’s really refreshing seeing someone that I’ve been watching for months play it and give it a solid review. Great video as always tokatu!
17:23 That part reminds me so much of an undertale song... Like, when you are almost getting out of the underground, you know? On that weird place where the elevator doesn't work
I didn't think I'd like the speeding since I'd gotten so used to the jump cuts, but I actually preferred the way you edited it here because you did it so well.
Honestly, I honestly like how tokaku breaks down certain mechanics, charts and even patters in these videos. To an idiot like me they're really informative. It's really interesting seeing somebody who knows their stuff talk about stuff like this and hearing their opinion on it.
I really like how she reviews the mods because most people when they play will say the chart is good or bad with no explanation but this video does a really good job of explaining to the mod creators what they're doing wrong so they can actually fix it.
For the 2-1-2 chords you mentioned in hell difficulty I’ve seen it go DF F FJ (and then some) but never DF F DF, yeah. I’m personally not a fan of the gameplay choices this mod made (I’m already fatigued with bomb/poison notes in FNF mods, they’re used as an artificial difficulty now. I appreciate that they’re trying to bring back FNF having gameplay besides just hitting the notes, but they should respect people who prefer no gimmicks by having the option to disable things, much like Vs Ace did.) but I can respect what they have created as pretty cool with some great songs. As more of a slap in the face if you fail Ectospasm a few times Retro even references Ace’s quote from his mode offers to disable the bomb notes and then mocks the player saying it’s “supposed to be hard” Fun secret, if you die 7 times on Ectospasm you get an even crazier charted version that’s much shorter. I like the idea of this mod, but if you can’t make a chart hard without a cheesy gimmick, that not my problem. Side note, anyone using my gameplay from half a year ago to comment on my opinion, I’ve improved so much since that, it’s not representative of my current skill level.
I love that Tokaku is willing to admit sometimes an easier difficulty is more fun to play. I love a challenge but I prefer to have fun while I play a game.
Well, i’m actually singaporean and i enjoy your videos :) it’s a stressful period for me cuz of my psle but ur videos really help to loosen me up. so keep up with the good content!
I never thought a furry music producer would be a mod for FnF, but here we are. Though there are a lot of furries/anthro animal character mods now, so RetroSpectre being here is just adding another feather on the proverbial cap
I know that with ectospasm, if the scroll speed is changed, the window for hitting the lamp notes gets really wonky. But it’s annoying because original scroll speed ectospasm is barely readable (let alone without opacity). Really fun video!
You should try the Dusttale mod it's really good but very hard, the things in this mod:10 whole songs, animated cutscenes, lore, new mechanics, 2 different endings and much more
it's not really good, the engine is very buggy and chart could be definetly better at some parts, also playing 5 songs a second time with no changes just for 2 bonus songs is very annoying and there are too much megalovania/dusttale theme references, like in almost every song and i can't hear it anymore. and opzimization does not work, it changes nothing which is really bad because some songs are really laggy and unplayable with a bad computer. but animations and the art stile are really really good
Hiya, I’m singaporean. Apparently u said in the. Video not many of us watch u? Glad i can enjoy ur content. Are u singaporean too? Or Malaysian. No offence. Just wanted to know and I’m kinda curious haha. Edit : i forgot to mention. Im glad more people are playing this mod now. Its rly good in my opinion :p
Note Quantitization is what caused the lamp notes (and to a lesser extent the acid mines) to have weird hitboxes because the way it works is that it takes the note graphics for the separate lanes and rotates them to match the corresponding lane, but it doesn't account for graphic offsets like having the option off would normally do.
Personally, I don’t mind the jump cuts that get rid of “dead space,” but I guess fnf viewers mind it more because they want to hear the song, and I guess I can understand that if they’re watching a mod review. I sort of watch your videos for you, rather than the content, while I do enjoy both, I’m just here more for a Tokaku video rather than in this case a fnf video. Anyways, to me this video did seem a little long, and I think that cutting more would have fixed that, but again I may be part of the minority who thinks that. Otherwise, I think the video was good. Feedback aside, this break that you’re taking is well deserved, there is no need to push out more than you think you need to. I hope you’re doing well! :)
i like how she didn't skip any of the songs nor added subtitles because for her it takes less effort, also the "new" chart pieces imo make be thought of as fnf unique and the awkwardness it has might be the reason why hell is hell
Listening to the music, the timing of the lanterns are in fact in time with the song itself and not the charting timing. I can see where that can throw someone off big time
It’s really all on the keybinds because most of the things you pointed out in hell difficultly wouldn’t be uncomfortable with keybinds like asdf, in my opinion.
Honestly I didn't have much of a problem with the charting on hell. I have an unpopular opinion in that I like being pushed out of my comfort zone with charts sometimes, because it helps me build skill. On top of that I found the chart really challenging, and fun since I got to try something new. Though, I still value your opinion, and can see why you thought differently :)
A custom scroll speed kinda messed some stuff up like for example the "vision" notes hitbox is based off of the unchanged chart, note lag aswell also in general the mod chart engine for this game doesn't like you messing with the scroll speed sadly kinda sad that you didn't get the best experience did go it Hope you're looking forward to Part 2 when it does come out considering more deadly sins will be added!
Fun Fact that the characters (which is the opponent u boutta fight) has one special word in them like Retrospecter has one "Wrath" if u change week its still lock but it does show the characters name and the word there's 7 character in Total in the mod they're still developing and if u pay close attention by the characters word its actually the 7 Deadly Sins word also if u change the boyfriend and girlfriends skin there would be alternate dialounge
Tolak I recommend you to fasting or turning the scroll speed to the normal speed because that's why it's like delaying on the blue light arrow Heart this comment if you read Goodluck on trying
Yeah, about the part 2... • You can check the mod wiki • Ask *Retrospecter,* the music producer/UA-camr himself ...or the developer team (maybe on Discord server).
Fun fact: in an earlier version, in the part of Fuzzy Feeling where your notes move from side to side across the screen, Saku’s notes didn’t used to be transparent. If you didn’t pay attention to which notes were yours, you could easily fail there. I kinda hate that was changed, because it added difficulty to Fuzzy Feeling in a very unique way
Huh...... I didn't think those are fun to play because it's very confusing to me..... I didn't play the non transparent version of Fuzzy Feeling but I did play other mods. It's so frustrating for me......(._.)

You put alot of effort into your videos I respect that...
Have a good Wednesday
16:05
" *HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND, WHY YOU HITTING ON HIM* " in ×999 speed
im dying laughing
Am Singaporean, and I love this content. I only started playing arcea because I watch this channel. Please keep making videos!
Well, i’m actually singaporean and i enjoy your videos :) it’s a stressful period for me cuz of my psle but ur videos really help to loosen me up. so keep up with the good content!
If I ever make a mod, I would want Tokaku to play test it. She knows what she is talking about.
I've always wanted to make a mod, but i never learned how to chart and i suck at drawing (programming too XD)
Not gonna lie, that Satisfracture FULL COMBO was indeed satisfying to watch
I never thought a furry music producer would be a mod for FnF, but here we are.
Though there are a lot of furries/anthro animal character mods now, so RetroSpectre being here is just adding another feather on the proverbial cap
The furry remix dude
I know that with ectospasm, if the scroll speed is changed, the window for hitting the lamp notes gets really wonky. But it’s annoying because original scroll speed ectospasm is barely readable (let alone without opacity). Really fun video!
I tried with the original scroll speed as well and it still needs to be hit early :/
Your keyboard switches sound better than the song it is so relaxing lmao
Retros team during the Hell Difficulties review: Write that down! WRITE THAT DOWN!!!!!
16:35 *"I feel uncomfortable with the energy we created in this studio today"*
You should try the Dusttale mod it's really good but very hard, the things in this mod:10 whole songs, animated cutscenes, lore, new mechanics, 2 different endings and much more
it's not really good, the engine is very buggy and chart could be definetly better at some parts, also playing 5 songs a second time with no changes just for 2 bonus songs is very annoying and there are too much megalovania/dusttale theme references, like in almost every song and i can't hear it anymore. and opzimization does not work, it changes nothing which is really bad because some songs are really laggy and unplayable with a bad computer. but animations and the art stile are really really good
Honestly, the FNF community is growing alot
youre late on this discovery
Probably Totaku is the only person the posts facts on the screen on something that you might not know about is the best.
i believe the lamp notes being off was a bug. they’re fixed in the 1.5 version of the mod!
4:09 Oh boy, I'm getting flashbacks to the ebola notes in the vs /v/ mod
Love when you post cause your the only rhythm gamer I really watch 😁
I like how the chat for the first part was like
" hotl shot furru art no way **pisses and shits pants** "
that's exactly why I cut but the audience here doesn't enjoy that so oh well :(
There's a secret difficulty for ectospasm in the game files
Just fail the attempt 7 times
Everyone playing hell difficulty: *visible pain*
Tokaku: hmmm this charting is pretty cool
They need to add retrospective's NoteSkin As an actual noteskin for a mod.
i really like how she explains what the things she says are for non rhythm gamer like me, and also gives very good points without hating on things
Yeah, she now's what she's talking about
i like how she didn't skip any of the songs nor added subtitles because for her it takes less effort, also the "new" chart pieces imo make be thought of as fnf unique and the awkwardness it has might be the reason why hell is hell
Listening to the music, the timing of the lanterns are in fact in time with the song itself and not the charting timing. I can see where that can throw someone off big time
Honestly thought that the awkward charts were very popular because I am used to seeing them..
It’s really all on the keybinds because most of the things you pointed out in hell difficultly wouldn’t be uncomfortable with keybinds like asdf, in my opinion.
The mods that have been the most fun were zardy, and the Vs. Camellia mod. Vs. Camellia is a definite must play for those good at rhythm games!
1:55 only 2 turns have passed and bros already like: ENOUGH!!!!!!!11!!
I'm Singaporean and watching you right now
Kamex mod: 🐲👉👈 "wanna sing while you wait?"
Retrospector mod: 🔫 🐲 "gates of wrath. Now"
“If they start moving the chart whi-“
Chart:Don’t mind if I do
A custom scroll speed kinda messed some stuff up like for example the "vision" notes hitbox is based off of the unchanged chart, note lag aswell
also in general the mod chart engine for this game doesn't like you messing with the scroll speed sadly
kinda sad that you didn't get the best experience did go it
Hope you're looking forward to Part 2 when it does come out considering more deadly sins will be added!
Singaporean watcher here:) love your videos
Butterfly had some nice ANIMATION
singaporean viewer here :D love ur vids!
I love your content keep up the good work 👍
ectospasm with every camera movement- absolute hell...
Tolak I recommend you to fasting or turning the scroll speed to the normal speed because that's why it's like delaying on the blue light arrow
Heart this comment if you read
Goodluck on trying
Yeah, about the part 2...
• You can check the mod wiki
• Ask *Retrospecter,* the music producer/UA-camr himself ...or the developer team (maybe on Discord server).
Love the edits in in the left
Fun fact: in an earlier version, in the part of Fuzzy Feeling where your notes move from side to side across the screen, Saku’s notes didn’t used to be transparent. If you didn’t pay attention to which notes were yours, you could easily fail there. I kinda hate that was changed, because it added difficulty to Fuzzy Feeling in a very unique way
Huh......
I didn't think those are fun to play because it's very confusing to me..... I didn't play the non transparent version of Fuzzy Feeling but I did play other mods.
It's so frustrating for me......(._.)
Any chart that has those spam bits instantly is dropped down by a 10kg weight, example is the Rude Buster chart from Funky Friday.
actually killing it
Amazing mod showcaseeeeee
Toaku inspired me to play rhythm games and she still does
it would be cool to see the QT mod covered like this, i'd like to see her opinion on the double spams in Censory-Overload and Termination
Looks like your computer couldn't handle the "Fuzzy Feeling" 16:47
Now I wanna download this mod and play it for myself!
Would love to see an updated play through, everything was made like 10x better imo
