I am 73 yrs old and I remember my grandmother teaching me how to make these when I was quite small. We always called them Butterballs and we still call them that. I hope my grandchildren will be making these for their children. These are my favorite cookies
Oh my goodness My neighbor gave me this recipe and several others when I was 12 years old. And I have been making them ever since and I am now sixty eight! And we called them butterballs. I still have the Original three by five card with the recipe. I just made a batch tonight but will roll them tomorrow and bake them. I always hid some in a coffee can under my bed. Because I had three brothers and would never get any if I left them all in the kitchen😂
I remember making these with my Great Grandmaw! She was slow and her little fingers would hit from arthritis and she would always father us girls to help her make them! I was about 5 yrs old and I help to roll them into balls. We each had a part in it. She had the sweetest softest voice and would sing to us while we worked! Sometimes we would all sing along! She sang so pretty and sweet! At only 4' 10" tall and 115 lbs maybe, She still could get around the kitchen. I'll never forget my Grandmaw because to me, She was like a little Angel. We always said a prayer before we started baking. It was 6 of us girls and we took turns saying prayer on cookie baking days and we all looked forward to going to Grandmaws and Papaws house! Smalls but so warm and loving. She called these cookies, Butter Snow Balls, and Us girls always called them Grandmaws Angel Snowballs! I'm 4' 10" and weigh 120 lbs. Her hair came down to her knees and was a beautiful Grey that she braided and kept in a bun. My hair comes down midway to my thigh and I keep mine braided! My Aunts always say I remind them of Great Grandmaw Margie! That to me is such a great compliment and a blessing to be like her! My Granny stepped in to pick up when Grandmaw couldn't do or anymore and she also was a shirt shall woman just as precious as her momma! My Momma also baked these Cookies throughout my life and I've continues to do it for my children, Grandchildren, and now 5 Great Grandchildren! Only 4 are old enough to eat them as my last one was born just a month ago. A precious baby boy! My daughter makes these for them and my Granddaughters are continuing with all our old great family recipes! 6 Generations of making these Cookies and Many more Old Recipes! Thank you Miss Lori for all your Recipes and your Precious time you spend with us all. I keep you and Danny in my Prayers daily along with many others. I pray for this world and all the suffering so many are going through. Its sad and I feel it in my heart but the light and love of Our Lord Jesus keeps me going. I pray for Israel and innocent people on both sides. I just pray for everybody and Mercy for the mean ones... Gods love keeps me lifted up... I love you and Mr Brown... Ya'll stay Safe and Warm... I look forward to Your next Video! God Bless. 🙏🙏❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏
I make these every year. I prefer to use almond flavoring instead of vanilla. It adds a lil something 😊. You two are the sunshine on a cloudy day. Looking forward to what you bring to us next time. Stay true, stay warm hearted and stay faithful ❤
I have this same recipe. When it was given to me, I was told that they were Pecan Dreams. Someone else gave it to the person that gave it to me. Back in the 80s I would just pinch off some dough and make the cookies. A few years back I started using a small cookie scoop to make the balls. Now they all come out the same size! I always get compliments on the cookies and people always ask for the recipe.
This brought tears to my eyes..My precious Sister made these cookies every year it was her specialty oh how bittersweet the memories are, cancer took her from us, and I carry on her tradition every year now and we’ve come to call them Trish’s cookies and now her grandchildren will make these when they are old enough to learn I will teach them. Thank you Lori for the precious memories that are flooding my soul today
So wonderful to see this tradition carried on to new generations. I have made this cookie recipe for the past 62 years, and my mother before me, and my grandmother before her. I even have their recipe cards. Christmas is the time for traditions. Thank you.
Ms lori we always made spiced grape juice Grape juice in crock pot Add 1 sliced orange 1 slices lemon 2 cinnamon sticks 4 whole cloves Heat it to simmer leave on low longer the better House will smell wonderful😊
I make these every year and gift them to family members. My mom is 93 and still going but does not bake anymore. She made these every year and we know them as Butter Balls. Since I am 68, I have enjoyed these for a lot of Christmases. We only have them at Christmas and it would not be Christmas without them. Thanks for sharing this old recipe and the memories it evokes
In my family we shape the dough into a crescent moon shape and call them Crescent Cookies. One of my favorites. Buttery shortbread & pecans, what's not to love?
We always had these during the holidays. Mom (and I) ground the pecans in a crank cheese grater with the hopper and the different wheels you can put in - I think it's called a mouli but don't quote me on that - with the fine wheel, and it grinds them just right. We called them pecan sandies but they were not sandy in the mouth! She always made them ahead and let them mellow in a tin for about a month. Superb.
These delicious cookies melt in your mouth. I called them Russian tea cakes & Mexican wedding cookies. Rolling them in powdered sugar while still warm makes them perfect 😋
Hello Mr. Brown and Mrs. Lorie, my wife and I enjoy watching your videos. In a world that's so corrupt it's nice to watch something that's wholesome. Mr. Brown reminds me of my grandfather Big Daddy. Keep standing up for Jesus. Gary and Alice.
I made these for last weekends family gathering! My recipe calls them Mexican Wedding Cookies. But it’s slightly different… first you just break up the pecans into small chunks . I do it with a plastic bag and a hammer lol, then toast the pecans just till they smell good. The rest of the recipe is the same but I mix it by hand and I usually do add the coconut. Also I roll them twice in the powdered sugar. I love these cookies!!❤️🤗🐝 btw, I love your champagne glass idea! Maybe add a red ribbon on the stem?❤️
God Bless you Ms. Lori and Mr. Brown too! Cast your cares upon the Lord for He cares for you. He cares about all of us Amen. ❤ Thank you for this easy peasy cookie recipe can't wait to make these. Have a wonderful weekend y'all stay strong, stay prayerful and stay in faith. 🙏 Shalom ✡️
This has always been one of my favorite cookies. It's a staple for Christmas in our family. Miss Lori, you nailed it. We need the meanness to go away. I get so overwhelmed by everything. Literally, tonight I felt that way. So you know what I did? I took a therapeutic remedy that always works! This is it: 1. make a cup of tea, 2. turn on your computer, 3. select a marvelous, wonderful channel called Whippoorwill Holler. Those people are just the very finest and they will make you feel so good and melt away all the horribleness of the world. It works everytime! Thank you so much Mr. & Mrs. Brown! Love you!
I’ve been making these since the early 80’s. They are sooooo good. My recipe is called Swedish Tea Cakes. I also make the chocolate version. They are called Chocolate Truffle Cookies. Both came from a Pillsbury Cook Book. It was free, when purchasing two 5lb. Bags of flour. It’s my most treasured baking cook book. I really enjoyed the video. Praying for all the people suffering. God bless y’all.

I use my food processor to make my hot cocoa mixes. We make these all the time when all the kids were together. Love them.
& Mrs. Brown! Love you!
These little buggers just melt & then you chew nuts, etc. HEAVEN!
Great idea ! Thanks. I’m trying to put some things my mom and grandmother always made, to put on the sweets table. This was one of them.
We have been in the 30s all day. Not quite ready but I’m sure the weather won’t wait on me 😂 ❤
Thank you for this one. It kind of reminds me of Wedding Cookies. They melt in your mouth too. Thank again and keep posting! Love to you and hubby!
We called them Amish Courting Balls!

I make those. I call them lady finger because I roll them into fingers. I mix all ingredients by hand, no mixer, processor really needed. Love your cooking.❤️
They did look good, and I will surely make these. I love your pretty cabin, and it looks so warm and cozy. Have a good weekend. I’m looking forward to the cooler weather. 💞

Your home sure is beautiful and cozy ❤ I've been making Christmas cookie baskets every year for family and friends , 44 years now. I change them up with different things each year and I've made those a few times 😊 I like putting some candies in with the cookies and other baked desserts, as well as my fudges 😊 a traditional gifting thing I always do
My mama's favorite cookie (we call Christmas Nut Balls) that I make every Christmas- a tear here and there remembering every year we all made these cookies together ❤️
I grew up having these, we’d make them , & other yummiful cookies, candies & give to our family, & friends! I still do to this day! 60 years later! Enjoy baking them with my grandkids! Seems to be a rarity these days ! Much love, I absolutely have enjoyed you for a few years and all here!

I make these every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have one recipe that’s calls them Wedding Cookies and I have one from the 1980s that call them Cresents. Whatever they are a favorite at my house. I make 3or 4 batches every year.
Yummy! Reminds me of Greek wedding cookies ❤
My Grandmother and Grandfather raised me and my sister. I just recently received a family cookbook that my cousin put together. In it, was my Granny’s meltaway cookies, coconut cake, cauliflower and carrots casserole, and her Thanksgiving dressing. I was so thrilled to have those recipes! I made her dressing and my family loved it. I’m planning on making her meltaway cookies to put in goodie boxes for Christmas. Thank you for all the wonderful recipes you share.
I love that these cookies have so many different names, but they're loved universally, yum!
My Mom made these for every Christmas when I was a kid.
I will definitely try this recipe. Thank You! Always enjoy your videos. We have got our first dusting of snow here today.
