Star Citizen's Anvil Terrapin , a ship which in my opinion looks excellent and has impressive lore and onboard capabilities. Being a pathfinder will certainly have its uses around the verse especially when we are able to explore pyro. But what do you guys think? As always let me know down below!!
Love the Terp. Right now it needs the scanner working to be more than a box runner but it still makes a damn good box runner too. I fly it shields off to be extra hard to find whenever I get an excuse to.
love the Terrapin. I use it for bounties. it handles better than you'd imagine for a ship of that shape and size, and it can take quite a punch. in fact, when the npc ships try to ram me, I just ram them right back and come out of the other end just fine.
I so very much want them to make a version that replaces the scanner with a big ol' gun turret, for a full space-tank experience. Give it the same firepower as the Ion and Inferno, but in like a quad turret (ie. 4x S5 rather than 1x S7, basically) and a small range bonus on the guns. GIB NOW
i recently bought this ship! i love it! Though, when you sit in the scanner seat and want to turn off the scanner: it turns off the whole ship XD i also obtained a medical pisces! i think it would be really cool if the Terrapin also had a medical version
Great Video...and Lore...I ..lIKE MANY TERRAPIN DRIVERS...want alittle more love shown to T-Pin... Better space Utilization....GunBuff/Missile/Decoys option...some Stealth/Evade/ISR options...Maybe a Cabin Redesign..Bunk beds on Port side,,Cargo Ramp instead of Port Door.. Thanks Ice Jager
Would love to see a medical variation of this ship. Its mostly unused interior would be perfect for some medical beds and jump seats to transport a sar team. Its size and armor also means it could reliably pickup and transport injured players and take a beating in hot zones long enough to evac
The central scanner seat is incredibly awkward and steals a ton of potential cargo space, the interior in general is used extremely ineffectively, which makes me raise an eyebrow at all the lore behind it. This sounds like a ship that should've come in with multiple variants like a dedicated cargo variant, a search and rescue one, dropship, stealth and a data runner.
In light of the Drake Cutter's quantum range, I truly believe the Terrapin need a complete overhaul and restating. A key feature of a pathfinder is range, but the Terrapin has 1/10th the range of a stock Cutter.
Always enjoy your content - thanks for making these. Astro Chronicles has a video re-imagining this ship as an Apollo like medship. Have you covered the Vulcan yet? It's another one I've set my heart on.
I love the Terrapin, it's not a common ship in the 'verse at the moment of course due to the current lack of exploration mechanics, but I use it like an armored shuttle. I got mine recently to go with my Odyssey (whenever CIG gets around to building that), and (pro tip) you can pick it up currently as a CCU upgrade, even though it's not shown on the Standalone Ships page of the Pledge Store, which is what I did. I've been having fun using it for bunker missions etc. Can't wait to one day dock it with my Odyssey.
I wish the Retaliator had this cockpit layout. The current Tali layout is crap. I hope they release the medical, dropship, and other Terrapin variants that they talk about in lore. The Terrapin is such a great looking ship, and some variants would be an easy and quick way to increase ship sales and expand gameplay.
The one good use for this ship currently is solo bunker missions as it's the only ship of it's size that can reliably tank turret fire. You can either use that to land close behind a hill or if you are good enough take the turrets out completely. Takes a while with 2 size 2s but it is doable. I own one of these and can't wait until it's scanning features come online. At that point everyone is going to want one of these as it's the best Pathfinder/Scout in it's size class by far.
i own this ship in game and will be essential to my Odyssey exploration. I just hope CIG will release upgraded scanning components as mentioned for the utility mount. 😉
Great Job with the lore on this one. I think you hit the Nail on the head talking about Pyro and all exploration ships in General. Game Play many of us have been waiting a long time for. This ship will be amazing, Coming out of a Polaris hanger the ultimate spy tool
Love your reviews, thanks. But there is one question in my mind as the MSR has also the dedicated scanning station + cargo + more beds, fire power etc. for about 40$ more. So the question is what's the diffrence between those two scanners and is the Terrapin worth it? Even it's a great ship for sure.
Well we won't know for sure what differences the ships have in terms of scanning until we get data running in game. However the main advantages to the terrapin over the msr are its size, armour and crew capacity. The terrapin will easily fit into larger ships, odyssey , polaris , kraken etc. I intend to use mine in the back of my odyssey. This will allow me to travel vast distances and if I stumble across a point of interest I can send the terrapin rather than risk the odyssey. So it really depends on what your planning to do in the future. I too have the msr is a superb ship. But for those long long long voyages, il take the terrapin.
I agree with PIN that we won't know until things are all said and done. But the Terrapin has been a favorite of mine since 2016 and it has somewhat unique features that set it above. Not the Mercury specifically mind you. First, that heavy armor is rare in a small ship and the Terrapin has additional aspects mentioned such as being able to handle corrosive, higher pressure, and other atmospheric dangers most other ships cannot. It may have only two guns but has extensive energy 🔋 behind them to keep weapons firing longer. It does not have physical cargo but as an info gatherer, electronic cargo will be it's money maker. The Mercury, due to its size, will have greater capacity there and the physical cargo too. But it's a 3-person crew with a much bigger signature, so trade offs need to be looked at depending on what the mission is.
Very cool looking outside but the interior sucks, put me off buying it anyway and I went with the Valkyrie. Hopefully we get a Terrapin medical variant. Just couldn't get over the seat just smack bang in the middle , very strange Anvil do the best looking VTOL
What are you talking about? The Terrapin is absolutely terrible. It is useless. Maybe when they have the data gameloop it will be impressive but currently it is crap
Is the game finished? Is the mercury star runner crap? As it doesn't have its main function yet? How long has the reclaimer been in game and is only now being used to do its job? Maybe think big picture and take your head out the sand. That is what I'm talking about.
@@PIN-o7it looks good on the outside, but the inside was like an afterthought. I have never been impressed by the handling. We all have our favorites and that’s great. However you have vastly overestimated this ships potential value.

RAMMING SPEED!!!!!

I think the fuel of the cutter might actually be a Bug sadly

It's a pricey ship but I have to remember it's armor tax. I really like this ship as a daily flyer, scout or maybe even a blockade runner.
blockade running sounds cool!

thankyou and yes the terrapin will be great in pyro and several larger ships I feel.
Love the turtle. Never owned one before though, it needs an update.
It does need some CIG lovin, hopefully before 4.0
Good video, subbed. Hope we get that stealth version that would be sweet
A stealthapin would be cool 😎
Might get one have two LTI ship CCU chains,
Corsair and Terrapin be nice to have will be my lowest price ships in fleet.
I luckily own one on pledge and do net regret melting a hammerhead to get it. I use for everything such a nice little ship

Love the space turtle, but unfortunately it doesn’t have a use for me yet.
Can not get enough of your content! Epic stuff!
Thankyou Rupert much appreciated .
do the thrusters actually move like that in game or is that just the video
They are VTOL.
Great review of a great ship!
The turtle does not get the love it deserves.

I'd love it, except for that chair in the back room. If it folded down into the floor or something...
I love the terrapin 🐢. Or is a bit in game for me though. To much $$$ for a small ship in the pledge store
Yeah its a buy in game , or upgrade ship for me.
Great video
