- A quick tour of my basement gym that I have been building and outfitting since 2015. My home gym started in my garage at my the condo I had previously lived at and then expanded to what it is now after the move in July 2017. Actually, after we closed on this house, first things moved was my gym equipment and had it rudimentarily set-up before I moved any other household items in.
I have always been very budget conscious when purchasing equipment for my gym and have been very lucky in quality re-sale and freebie equipment additions to my home gym.
One of the best home gym videos I've seen. Great setup. Thanks for sharing.
Thank for the compliments! Really appreciate it!
Solid looking space man!
Thanks Brandon! Small potatoes compared to yours! But I like it!
wholesome vibe
Great gym man! Lot of great finds you have!
Yeah I’ve been very lucky at that
Nice video, keep it up Matt!
Hey thanks! I appreciate it!
You have everything guy
Thanks... but it didn't happen all at once.
For the bolts that keep loosening on on your leg extension you could get nylock nuts.
I will try that! In the meantime, I just bought Gorilla Glue and glued everything together. So far it seems to be holding.
This is exactly how i am building my garage gym. Bought a few pieces on amazon a basic set of weight and bar from Dicks (pre pandemic - Bar & weights $300 for 300 pounds) and then a bunch of DIY storage pieces and thrift shop finds. Piece by piece... Even using the old computer 3 speaker set with an old phone just for Spotify Tunes..
And the great thing is, that gym equipment holds its value pretty good that you can always resell and upgrade later
Nice!
Thanks!
Hell of a freebee bro!! Great home gym!
Thanks! I was pretty lucky!
Nice set up. The Fugazi flyer \m/
Yes! That was a great show.
For the ext curl you could just put a dab of temporary loc tite on all the bolts and tighten it back down. You could also think about reinforcing the frame if you or a buddy can weld
I tried Loc Tite but to no avail. Welding would be an option if I had such skill abs equipment
@@giantrobot_cf Have you tried the red loc tite? That stuff is damn near a weld
Nice Matt - I myself have set up a home gym in Australia to run my personal training / athlete development business out of. Love having something at home, also makes it convenient when you have kids! I'm not quite as budget conscious as I run clients and eventually want to run a home gym / American style barn operation from a lifestyle block.
That’s the great thing about home gyms and private facilities - you can tailor it to you needs. I used to coach other powerlifters and high school athletes from my basement occasionally, but not on a full time basis. Barn gym sounds amazing. I hope you do a build video on it, I find home gym videos fascinating.
@@giantrobot_cf I'm going to chuck a video on the current setup in the next week or so, once the last dumbbells arrive - although I saved some money at Black Friday sales, the mess of getting them sent from multiple locations is a bit frustrating.
@@TimBarnesPolygonPerformance I’ll keep an eye out for it
Gets the job done
Definitely does!
Really cool space man.
Thanks! I kind of regard it as the little brother of yours. Focused equipment purchases and nothing superfluous or flashy.
@@giantrobot_cf you really have done a great job utilizing space and coming up with creative solutions. That cable stack is super cool. Keep ‘em coming!
Nice gym! Have you tried propping up the end of the machine during leg curls? Better designed plate loading leg curls (like Elite FTS) are at a better angle for the contracted position. Just need to make sure it is steady.
I haven't tried that but will. give it a try. Thanks! I have tried to use that machine with bands, but no luck. I'd love a more robust leg machine, but I have such a small foot print that I have to make do.
@@giantrobot_cf I wasn't expecting such a kick ass gym with the words Goodwill and dumpster dives on the thumbnail.
@@briand5047 Haha. That made me laugh, thanks! I am glad its a surprise!
@@giantrobot_cf On some level, we all compare our home gyms to The Rock.
Jujumufu or @BasementBandon too
Nice gym :)
Thanks 🙌
