2:10 That scream COMPLETELY caught me off-guard when I was watching this dub. The MC's VA sounded so flat throughout most of the episodes, but if there was one thing he did right, it was definitely battle cries like this one.
Gyeseongyeon (계성연) i liked the voice personally it worked to ikki and his more low key personality being a bit more sarcastic also his epic lines like this and his battle with sword eater were both pretty well done
Eh, I guess so. Part of it might be because he seemed like he was emoting well when I watched the trailer from Sentai, and then it sounded totally different in the actual dub itself. To be fair to him though, he wasn't the only one who sounded a bit off, imo. The VAs for Tohka and especially Ayatsuji were a bit iffy for me, too. Pretty much everyone else sounded fine, though.
Heh, 69..... AND that moment shocked me because that was the most we got out of his VA throughout the whole show. He always sounded so composed but now everything's riding on this one swing.... this one moment.

In the LN, the author emphasized the power of ikki when he did his strongest and most concentrated itto shura which became itto rasetsu by manifesting the rakshasa itself in the form of ikki's aura charging alongside him towards todo. In the later chapters of the light novel. He was able to use itto rasetsu right after using ittou shura and in the vermillion empire arc, due to him having a better magic control, he can negate any major drawbacks from using both ittou shura and rasetsu. They couldve actually covered all the chapters in the LN within 2 seasons but asterisk war had to be there and ruined the party.

I think it was more of a call back to his first battle against Kirihara. In that fight, Stella and Alice discuss why Ikki hesitated at the start of the match even though he had plenty of time to activate Itto Shura and defeat Kirihara before he activated his noble art, and it was because his head wasn't properly in the game due to nerves. In this match, while his physical condition was far from perfect, his mind was completely focused on the task at hand and knew fancy tricks wasn't going to cut it, unlike his previous matches. It was all or nothing.
Nah. You're missing context. He yelled Itto Shura but he actually accidentally created a new technique. It's called Itto Rasetsu. One of the instructors names it later. Normally he forces out all his power by compressing it to higher density and using it all in one minute. With Itto Rasetsu he is doing the same thing but in a single second. He hyper compressed all his meager magic power to skyrocket the density and using it all up in just one second. One attack. It's an all or nothing move.

Ikki's VA if you still don't know is Clint Bicham. For the most part (of my knowledge) he mostly voices supporting characters and a small amount of mains. I will admit when I first heard him in this I wasn't 100% sure what to think but as it went on I started to like his performance more and more. I think it might have also been since I'm so used to the I guess bigger VA's like Josh Grelle JYB and others like them. Sorry for going so off topic.
Let's give props to Toudo, she knew that if she dodges Ikki's attack will be pointless cause he would be open. But instead, to give him a fighting chance, she decided to take his attack head on with a full powered strike.

By far the only adversary ikki fought, since his mock duel with Stella, tohka was the most honorable knight. Instead of taking the easy route to victory by letting him wear himself out with his itto shura she faced him head on with pride and honor. Honestly if Stella wasn’t best girl for this anime, I firmly believe tohka would be.
She had self-respect and integrity, more than just honor. She knew how she could win, but it would mean betraying who she was. She would rather risk defeat than commit such a betrayal of herself. So even when she lost, she remained victorious.
Anyone wanna talk about how clever Ikki was ? He gave his sword all of his power using Raikou or Lightning and he used it against the lightning cutter Rakari
Ikki in this show is proof that having a lot of magic power means very little if you don't know how to use it effectively. He might have the least magic power of everybody in the show, but he knows how to make use of all of it effectively, not wasting a single drop. By doing that alone, he can compete and win against someone as powerful as Todo who most claimed would have won the previous tournament had it not been for a bad matchup against someone who could do distance attacks, and even then he struggled. Ikki not only defeated her in a weakened state, but he also defeated her in close combat, which was what she was best at and undefeated in. That is a power move if I ever saw one.
All he does is gather all his mana/strength/ everything into one condensed minute, or in this case swing. Its powerful because of how he uses it. In reality, its actually quite weak compared to some other powers in the manga or show.

A big problem I find with a lot of English dubbed anime is that the VA's lack emotion. It almost seems like they don't even enjoy recording the voice for their character, which causes the end product to be inferior to the Japanese VAs' performances. Unfortunately, this was one of those dubs where there just wasn't much emotion or thought put into how the characters should sound. That being said, one thing I will give credit to the English dubs is that many of the screams/rage moments are more powerful, as such here (another example is Sean Schemmel's Goku. There are many examples of his rage, but my favorite one is against Goku Black). Ikki's scream at 2:10 was nothing short of a masterpiece, giving me (and probably many other viewers) goosebumps upon hearing it. I only wish that more dubs could use that same technique of placing the emotion into their anger and apply it to the rest of their lines. Of course, voice acting is not easy and I give all the credit to these VA's who voice all the characters.
I love how everyone loves the itto shura battle cry, but can I bring some attention to the line " SHARPEN MY SOUL! PUSH THROUGH! USE IT ALL!" Talk about a line that goes hard, complete work of art
The funny thing is that the audience sees them go forward a bit and then the next thing they see is just Tohka on the ground and Ikki standing. Thos was literally half a second long

Yeah, it was very unique. Well, all the voices were. I really liked them. Even Touka raspsy voice. Made them sound more human..... like they didn't care about anything except the one thing they cared about.... their battle.

How would everyone feel if they decided to turn this anime into a game? I think it would be amazing seeing as all the blazers have different abilities and skillsets that make them amazing fighters. I see it as a full 3D environment so you get the full immersion of being on the battle field, or dojo. And if you decided to play as Ikki and you used his itto shura under a certain combo it would affect the screen of the player using him. Thinking about it gives me so many ideas for an actual game.

You know I just realized something, from an outside perspective unless you're on their level of eyesight they have a slow motion cam that can catch high-speed s***.... this entire fight probably took three seconds from the audience point of view
The voice casting is fine, but the voice acting is just way too flat. Other than Ikki yelling Ittou Shura (which by the way he captured perfectly), everything else just sounds like the voice actors were just reading their lines.

This is how you do a fight. No flashy setups. No overdrawn clashes. No unnecessary monologuing. Just two fighters who set out to beat the other
This fight is solid proof that sometimes the short fights tend to be the most epic.

If there's one thing I don't like about the dub it's that they removed the moments where the characters call out to their weapons. It's so cool seeing Ikki say, " Come to me, Intetsu."😍
They didn't ? The characters still say their words of power but this fight was them not, both sub and dub

Ikki's VA is amazing damn
A lot of people don't like Ikki's english VA. I think he did great, and fit Ikki's personality perfectly. It's better than having Bryce voice Ikki, and I enjoy the battle screams.
ps, i have nothing against bryce, i just want to have 1 character in my favorite protaganists(besides Natsu) that isn't an edgy shit(shirou, kirito, meliodas HI)
Yeah, it was very unique. Well, all the voices were. I really liked them. Even Touka raspsy voice. Made them sound more human..... like they didn't care about anything except the one thing they cared about.... their battle.
@@vDorgengoa and that itto shura scream was better than the japanese version in my opinion. another great dub is Assassination Classroom. 2nd favorite anime of all time.

How would everyone feel if they decided to turn this anime into a game? I think it would be amazing seeing as all the blazers have different abilities and skillsets that make them amazing fighters. I see it as a full 3D environment so you get the full immersion of being on the battle field, or dojo. And if you decided to play as Ikki and you used his itto shura under a certain combo it would affect the screen of the player using him. Thinking about it gives me so many ideas for an actual game.

Yes but the Itto Raisetsu could only be used after you've taken enough damage and havent used Itto Shura the entire fight before then

I just realized the translation of rikko is lightning and the translation of rikari is lightning cutter
You know I just realized something, from an outside perspective unless you're on their level of eyesight they have a slow motion cam that can catch high-speed s***.... this entire fight probably took three seconds from the audience point of view
The voice casting is fine, but the voice acting is just way too flat. Other than Ikki yelling Ittou Shura (which by the way he captured perfectly), everything else just sounds like the voice actors were just reading their lines.
A WEAKENED Ikki did this. If Ikki was at full strength, Ittou Shura by itself might've been enough
