Man I remember as a kid finally getting here and I got the key and went up there to fight him only to see him running away from a little dragon. What a whimp! Pretty disappointing boss fight but a great game.
MultiSuperguy101 I'm playing the game on PS3 as a download & I thought the same thing. So bold to turn all the dragons to stone but runs when he knows he's screwed. I'm so flustered that I'm yelling "get back here you p***y!"😂 Not to forget he gets taken out in 2 hits compared to 3
Well you also have to remember, that little dragon went around freeing all the crystallized dragons, killing his henchmen, and made it all the way to Gnasty Gnorc.
The most disappointing boss "battle" in the history of games. You fight through the entire game just to see a giant monster like Gnorc that escapes from a little dragon and he gets killed by 2 shots...

this level was hard. lol. first bit was easy, and so was last bit jumping across platforms but that middle bit where u have to charge around the track without falling off as quickly as possible was difficult. lol. and there was nothing more hateful than when u finally get to him and.. he jumps down and makes u do it all over again cuz u didnt get to him fast enough....
I think they ruined it . Not by making the game bad, but by changing the game to much. It's a totaly different spyro. 5 things are still the same: It's about Spyro. 2 still sparx. 3 It's about dragons. 4 Spyro spit fire. (5) Hunter I don't know or it's the same one, but I think so. Conclusion: the games are not that bad but it's not really spyro anymore (to much changed)
You know shit is going down when you first hear this track. I don't know why, but facing Ripto and the Sorceress didn't make me feel as hyped as I did when I faced Gnasty for the first time. You feel his evil presence so much throughout the whole game that once you get to the final realm all you can think is "let's finish this, Gnasty". As soon as I saw the dark sky and THIS track started, I was ecstatic. True, his "fight" is too easy. That's the big problem of Spyro 1, an otherwise nearly perfect game: the easy bosses. I agree that the other two final bosses pose much better fights (especially Ripto), but taking Gnasty's ugly ass down is still immensely satisfying thanks to the game's incredible art direction. Say what you want about Spyro 1's gameplay and its shortcomings (some of them objective, some less), but in terms of atmosphere I shall always place it far above every single other Spyro game.
There was a good sense of tension build-up with GG that didn't come with Ripto or the Sorceress. There was more dialogue and a more substantial plot in the sequels. The first one was just "oh f you gnorc, I'm coming for you and I'm gonna make you pay'
@@schmumlaufThat’s it. Gnasty is regarded as a serious and dangerous threat, who must be handled with extreme caution, regardless of how arrogant Spyro acts. Ripto is brushed off as a joke from the getgo and the Sorceress is barely in the game.
Gnasty Gnorc was like: -"Spyro, finally we meet. Now I can turn you into a statue, like your similar!" *Spyro reaches Gnasty Gnorc* -"No, Wait! I was just jocking!" *Gnasty Gnorc run away*
When I first battled Gnasty I was like why is this so easy, but now that I think of it I remembered that all of the dragons in Gnasty's world are dragons you've already freed once and just got frozen again. They probably went to fight Gnasty and they probably weakened him quite a bit leaving the last 2 hit points for spyro
Sadly it's pretty much just because the developers were crunched for time. The fight was intended to be a lot harder and mechanically challenging, but they had to scrap most of it because of deadlines.
Given that spyro is a game with a heavy stylistic emphasis on magical things, i always found it interesting how a character like Gnasty Gnorc would be given such a conspicuous name. After all, Gnosis is an essential part of magic. i wonder if anybody else has come accross this interesting thought.
An interesting insight, what you say may be related to his name, but, as far as I know, the name Gnasty is a pun on "nasty" and Gnorc is the combination of gnome and orc.
This fits a boss level for sure. I just wish that gnasty gnorc himself wasn't such a joke of a boss. The most challenging boss in the game was dr. Shemp. Gnasty was like just as easy as blowhard or Jacques. The gliding from platform to platform over lava was the most challenging part.
sin those drums arent in the remake. even bigger sin they removed some of gnastys attacks (he fires beams on the racetrack if he's ahead of you and crushes you if you get too close to him in the original instead of just standing there!)
Was so upset as a kid because I couldn't reach the Gnasty Gnorc battle. When I finally did when I got a bit older I remember feeling so let down by how easy it was. You basically chase a couple thieves and then chase Gnasty for a bit until he stops and you flame him once. It was pathetic.
Lol I know. For whatever reason though i was the first out of my brothers to beat the game. I remember hearing my biggest brother yelling at the TV during this fight. Not sure why he thought it was so hard
The real spyro games are the 1,2,3°.....another sequel made by universal and not insomniac are boring shit.... Stewart Copeland wrote soundtrack only for the first 3 games.
The people saying that the boss battles don't count as boss battles because they are easy, well in a way it makes sense to have them all be so easy because the main age group of Spyro one is meant for little kids and little kids don't like to have things too difficult because they get overwhelmed and upset. I've never minded the boss battles.
It also makes sense from a story perspective as a tragic end for a villain who really wasn't. Gnasty Gnorc only crystallized the dragons because they publicly humiliated him on live TV completely unwarranted. It only fits that he would end up completely brutalized by a dragon as revenge for a feud he didn't even start.

Gnasty Gnorc: THAT DOES IT!

@@theskull4106 not at all. Literally, it takes one flame and Gnasty is dead. Spyro literally surpasses him in every category.

it was that fucking blue dragons fault, he shouldn`t have said that

I like the similarities this song shares with Toasty.
This music scared the shit out of me as a kid
The most disappointing boss "battle" in the history of games. You fight through the entire game just to see a giant monster like Gnorc that escapes from a little dragon and he gets killed by 2 shots...
That's the only problem I have with Spyro the Dragon. The game is great, but the "bosses' almost don't even qualify as bosses.
+Stefanonimo that's the point of all the game : Gnorc is a coward who uses minions and tricks.
they have retckoned that in a game where he reapperead and where is almost a badass.
***** health is not stamina :p
The fight is pretty similar to the final boss of Crash Bandicoot 2, Cortex just flies away from you instead of fighting and you only hit him 3 times.
@peppercat1515 It happened to the funny and cool characters like Hunter,rRipto,Crush, and Gulp.
May I ask why the English spelling of his name has the "G", if the pronunciation is Nasty Norc? Nasty Norc is his name in Italian, but what's the point of the "g"?
i loved the sound his cepter made

I think Spyro 2 is the hardest.
The final battle with Gnasty Gnorc was really disappointing. Thankfully, the final battle with Ripto in the next game made up for that.
Gnasty:DISAPPOINTING?, THAT DOES IT!!!!
@MandoKeybladeMaster We all do.

What or who exactly is that fire bull on the left of Spyro?
just a bull from the Town Square level. nothing special
Oh I though it was meant to be that mechanical bull boss.
Ripto Was WAY Harder Than Him

This oddly sounds like a Donkey Kong track when you play it at x1.25 speed.
How is ripto more harder than gnastly gnork
