Very cool. I know that many hunters carry Victorinox butcher knives, in the bush. I have made leather sheaths for them as well. Very good to see a dedicated outdoor knife from this company.

It is like everything in life. You will have people who like it and others that don't. With everything new, there will always be some kind of minor issues when people complain. That is how you make improvements to make it better. I have the Venture Pro and the Pro kit. Although I have not used it in the field yet. I do like the feel of the knife in my hand though.

Ja lieber Felix, die Sicherheit sollte immer oberstes Gebot sein.👍 Meine erste größere Messer-Verletzung habe ich mir übrigens mit einem Victorinox zugefügt.
Ich war etwa 8 Jahre alt, als ich von meinem Vater das "Schweizer Messer" geschenkt bekam. Natürlich musste ich damit sofort "Pfeil und Bogen" schnitzen und natürlich hab ich dabei nicht aufgepasst, rutschte ab und stach mir die Klinge durch den Zeigefinger und noch halb in den Mittelfinger der linken Hand. Es hat scheußlich geblutet, aber glücklicherweise ist alles gut verheilt.
Das Messer habe ich heute, nach fast 50 Jahren, immer noch und es ist immer noch ein treuer (und scharfer) Begleiter! Verletzt habe ich mich seither aber damit nie mehr!😁

I believe that expensive equipment is not important when it comes to bushcraft. A cheap Mora is also a great knife. Your creativity is much more important so that you can enjoy this hobby.

Venture war mit Fällkniven F1 die einzigen Fixex Blades, die ich nicht nach dem auspacken schärfen, oder sogar umschleifen musste. Ich warte noch auf die nächste Serie des Pro, bis ich es kaufe. Den Sheath und das normale habe ich schon. Obergeil!

Danke für das tolle Feedback. Das freut mich sehr! Im Januar kommt die neue Scheide raus. Vielleicht können diejenigen, die mit der alten nicht zufrieden waren sie die gegen eine neu austauschen. Bin gespannt was Victorinox vorschlägt.
@@FelixImmler Ich muss die garnicht unbedingt tauschen. Die alte Scheide hat ja auch was. Tatsächlich habe ich mit einem Freund im Teamspeak gesessen und er meinte: "Rate mal welches Messer ich in der Hand habe!", und hat mit dem VicVenture geklappert. Das war schon eine lustige Situation.

One issue I've come across is that the sharp edges of the grind on the spine cut your thumb when you're bracing the spine of the knife for power in precision cuts.
I was working on a project using the knife the other day and after less than an hour the pad of my thumb had a ton of cuts in it, with one bleeding, which is not something I've ever had an issue with in any other knife I've used for bushcraft of knife-based projects.
Those sharp edges on the spine are good for scraping, but bad for your hands.
Another major issue is that the hook to keep the kit bundle closed doesn't really work. It's always working loose and coming open.
In addition, the basic knife with the basic sheath (which is all that's available in my area) fops around inside the kit. I've had to add some elastic to make a loop to keep the tip of the sheath fixed in place.

Problem 1: Take a sharpening stone, a diamant file or what ever and round the sharp 90° edge of the spine on this place, where you put your finger in den Spine if you work.
Problem 2: But the hook is opened against the ground.... and there is no Buckle where you can adjust something. It isn't possible that something get loos if you work. please send me pictures from your problem.
Problem 3: The Tool Kit doesn't really work without the carrying sytem. There is a solution but the design of the Sheath and the toolkit is not designt for this.

Just for clarification I was contacted by Victorinox this am and they WILL be sending me a replacement Venture knife which I will gladly take. I've been a SAK/Victoronix fan for over 40 years and I EDC their multi-tool (best in the world) and will continue to support this company. Things happen and under the right conditions any knife/tool will fail...big thanks for Felix reaching out to me and a big thanks to their customer service (Margo) for their understanding...

Felix, I'm impressed that you made a successful video about something as simple as a strap. I hope that you passed on this information to Victorinox, because it would go to waste, if they adjusted the length of the strap.
I do question the wisdom of changing this knife for 2024, though. The design seems to be complete. I look forward to find out what is going to happy, then though.
You are right. I have to make sure tnat they don't change the length of the belt!
By the way, if it isn't too late, then they might need to find another way to attach the sheath/holder to our belts. If I have other things attached to my belt, then it will be a bother to remove the sheath/holder from my belt.

The only criticism of the Venture series that I can find is, they are impossible to purchase form Victorinox(always out of stock). Can't even find them on other sites e.g. Amazon, Ebay etc. But, this must be a sign of their popularity. Can wait till Jan '24.
Victorinox stopped the distribution because of problems with the sheath. Now the problems are solved. Im January 2024 the new knives should be avalable worldwide.
I can confirm that Victorinox made a new sheath. I just received my venture pro knife with the new sheath without the problem of the previous one.

As usual I've enjoyed your video very much for its useful and innovative ideas about using this amazing Venture knife system.
However, I have a question.
In the "show more" section below the description, you list your most favourite knives. I was rather disappointed to note that both the Hercules and Work Champ were not on the list.
As these two knives feature in my selection list rather prominently, especially the Hercules, I was wondering whether there is a specific reason that you did not list either of them.
My intended use would be as a supplementary system for the Venture, not a replacement.
Thanks once again, and looking forward to the developments in 2024 mentioned in the video with much interest.

@@FelixImmler After viewing your video, I've given some thought to the idea of an "improved/new" Venture knife.
The first thing about the knife itself that I would change is the thickness of the blade stock. I think 3,4mm is too thin and as the knife is pretty light, I believe it could easily be a bit thicker. Not a lot, but I think 4mm would be a real improvement.
Gains: it would strengthen the knife especially towards the tip. I'd keep exactly the same edge geometry. This extra thickness would improve splitting ability, but not reduce the slicing/cutting/carving ability by very much. I'd keep the outer dimensions of the handle exactly the same - this means more weight from the extra steel, but some saving in less polymer. The overall balance point would move a fraction towards the handle end it's true, but not by much. Overall weight increase would probably be less than 1/2 an ounce, possibly only 1/3 or so, but I'm guessing here. The thicker spine would mean easier to grip if pushing on it especially where the jimping is. The knife would have better "feel" and "heft".
Losses: weight obviously, but as it is a light knife anyway, this is not a problem. There might be an impact on the sheath design and manufacture, but, as has been suggested, there will probably be some redesign and rejigging anyway, so not a huge problem.

For the last trick I like the stick idea much better than the drill bit one. Having a 2 cm wood drill bit pointing my way would not make me feel very safe :).

I don't recommend using the drillbit fixing the sheat. Use the small stick method, better yet put it in the toolkit or use a whistle or something. Don't poke out your eye with the sharp drill bit obviously.
