Red will sell it with proprietary charger/battery/screen/lens and everything at insanely high prices separately from the body and will fail like the Amazon fire phone

But it won't have a 240p screen like the 3DS :D
3DS is low resolution

People who think that everything will jumps on the screen surface like a real holographic images will be disappointed, it's just like 3D cinema or 3D screen...a screen with depth something like that and everything inside the screen not out of it.
Those modules are going to be $1000 each

I had the HTC Evo 3D and it had an excellent display for the time. However on-axis viewing of 3d content had a VERY small angle and you tilted the display more than 10 degrees it felt like your eyes were bugging out trying to see what was going on.
The second generation of the Asus Rog phone plus this 3D screen = Perfection
my htc evo 3d still works gud...luv making 3d clips...so this should be worth it

They had to change, A LOT to where they are now, and it's all for the better. They got the Face Chat in 4V (IN REAL TIME) to work literally 2 days before this preview show, lol.
"One example of this is… when we announced, you needed a module to shoot 4V with the HYDROGEN ONE. The module was going to have multiple cameras for realtime 4V and was going to sell for about $750-$1000.
A few months ago we added 3D cameras front and back to HYDROGEN so you could shoot 3D and convert to 4V without a module. Processing to 4V needed the cloud, your computer or was done VERY SLOWLY on your phone. Much better than a module but still not ideal.
Now, with a lot of hardware and software work (which created a good portion of the delay)… you shoot 4V realtime on the phone both sides. You monitor your cameras in 4V. You can Face Chat in 4V realtime. You can post 4V immediately. When you shoot, you also get a companion 2D file in your gallery. Of course, you can still select and shoot just 2D.
This development took some extra time including supply chain adjustments. I made the call. I am quite sure it was the right decision to push the launch if only for this. There are several other significant improvements that we were able to implement given the extra time."
Watching this on my RED Hydrogen One. Good phone to me. And I don't use the 3D / 4V stuff at all. Just wanted a "rugged" for phone for Verizon with large battery capacity.
I do hope they create this phone to have similar specs as with the rest but be the top when it comes to photo and video taking.

Anyone ever heard of LG thrill 3d, i had one like 6 years ago. Not saying it's the exact same but it had 3d with no glasses, and games, and photos were awesome
holographic? (newspappers talking about the princess leia effect) but it's just another 3D screen, so don't go crazy
I'm not convinced the RED Hydrogen has a working screen at all, even in 2D.
How big is the camera sensor?
If a stupid plastic bracket can cost about $300 for a red camera . A phone is just going to be crazy money.

Actually LG already had 3D phone before.. it was called LG Optimus 3D.. it was pretty awesome back in the day.. look it up

How does the effect holds when two people watch the phone at the same time? I'm assuming it has some kind of kinect, leap motion or eye tracking system on the front.
They said it works fine from the people who saw it.

3d phone? Hmmm i remember htc evo 3d and that lg 3d phone.

i had 3d phone 6 7 years back. it was HTC
I need to see a video of the screen before considering buying. I realize it would look weird on a 2d display but that would prove that it works. The fact that they're banning videos and photos of the front makes it feel like a scam.
It's out there. If you really want to see it, type "Leia Inc" on UA-cam. Surprise, it looks like crap, as you can't see 4V on a 2D screen / recording. They are using the Leia Inc screen, and Jim Jannard now owns a large portion of that company as well.
It's not shocking that they don't want normal consumers that aren't familiar with tech to see 2D video of the screen, and have them think it looks like crap, cause it doesn't show up over a video.

I think Red is shooting themselves in the foot by not letting us see the 3D stuff. Even a 2D representation would give us some idea.

HTC evo 3D basically
All they did was use face tracking like the new 3ds uses to keep stereoscopic vision at better viewing angles. Still imo not worth the price they want for it, especially if they are using last years chip set. And it's RED that screams upcharge central for what you get
I had the HTC EVO 3D...it was pretty cool but more like a gimmick than anything

I was expecting to see the actual holographic screw showing the 3d effect, not a guy taking a lot.
I was hoping it would’ve use a specialized proprietary operating system of RED’s own design. Android sucks. OS updates are always lagging. It’s over built and not very secure. This phone is a heck of a breath of fresh air. Maybe they could partition Android for phone operation, then use proprietary software outside of Android to run the cameras. IDK. But I’m on board for sure. RED has unbelievable quality and reputation.

Newsflash : a Red phone won't replace a Red camera. If it could, why would Red make it ? They'd shoot themselves in the foot. The camera module is just going to be an unwieldy gadget for people with more money than sense.
This phone is really not for anyone. It's a concept that should stay that way.
I'm colorblind and I'm not able to see 3D movies. When I watch 3D movies it looks flat as if it's 2D.
