I know you don’t want to shove it down peoples throats but this is a big part of your life right now and I’m personally here for it 🤷🏻♀️💕
I started losing hair at 3 months post op. Believe it or not the only thing that made a difference for me was biotin leave in condition spray from Walmart. It was a life saver!
@@heidi_dato8105 just telling you what's scientifically proven. Biotin can make bloodwork look fine but in actuality it "might" not be. Not saying this is your case but it is proven that this happens when taking Biotin.
Yes! The water thing is so real!! I had vsg exactly one year ago and the hardest thing was drinking just water, it would sit so heavy in my stomach and make me feel sick. Even now after a year I still have a much harder time drinking water than any other liquid, after a few sips I’m tapped out of water verses something like tea or crystal light lol. Crazy how that works. Congrats on your journey by the way! Sounds like you are doing amazing and taking the steps to be very successful long term! Welcome to the wls family!
I'm just starting the process for gastric bypass. I'm glad you are posting about it, because it seems you find so much information on the sleeve but not the bypass. I have been trying to implement some of the changes so that when the times comes and I finally have the surgery I will be better prepared. Trying to drink water every half hour, cut down on my carbs, limit my caffine etc. I wish you the best on your journey!
hair loss norm happens between 3-6 months, good ol telogen effluvium. if it happens it happens, not much you can do about it. Just keep taking your vitamins. Get as much protein in as you can and if it happens, dont be afraid to get a chop if needed. It will gross back, takes time, but it will
As a chef, I can tell you that the proteins in eggs react very differently depending on how they are cooked - so perhaps experiment with different cooking methods -- I would recommend poached -- its the most gentle way to cook eggs, proteins are not highly agitated like they can be when fried, hard scrambled, etc. --- good luck!
but why drink diet coke? There's nothing good in it. you are doing so well---stick to water. Anything processed should be avoided for OTHER health reasons beside bad for you! Keep up the good work! Love your nails!!
Not asked for but be careful not to snack eat all day. Your wt. Will stay. I personally know several people that have had this surgery and after they start adding foods they ate something almost every 15 min to half hour and after the initial rapid lose they stayed w the wt. You are a beautiful girl. You can do this. Be what you want to be
Just a warning! Coca Cola, Sprite, and Minute Maid products are recalled. They’re containing metal shards recently. Best to just forgo the soda. Better for ya anyway!
It’s crazy your program says you can have diet coke. Carbonated drinks usually stretch your stomach back out and make you sick. Plus that could lead you to wanting more sweets. To each their own because it’s your body. I will say like I said in other comments my cousin did have the surgery and did have pop and stretched her stomach back out. Along with cheating on her diet. She weighs more than ever at around 800 lbs and can’t even hardly walk on her own now. She’s basically bed ridden or an oversized recliner I should say cause that’s where she stays all the time and someone has to wipe her when she goes to the bathroom etc. It’s really sad actually.
@@yummie69able she was always pretty big but it got way worse after her mom, my great aunt, died. It was always just them really so when she died she felt she lost everything and became very depressed. She was still probably around 400 or 500 lbs then but it’s obviously escalated due to depression. I really hate it for her health but she has never chose to do anything about it nor will she ever. She thought the surgery would be a quick fix and she would magically be skinny. Quite like some smartasses in these comments but most people should know that’s not how it works.

I’m sorry… but ONLY one diet coke a day??? Having a coke EVERY SINGLE day ???? That cannot be healthy for anyone whether the “program” allows it or not 😲😲

U can just tell u look and feel better. My aunt got sick after her surgery when she would have sugar. It lasted a few months. But she's fine now. Keep up the good work Alex. So proud of u❤.
Programs really are so different, as you say. In the Netherlands, where I live, it's 1 day clear liquids, 4 days purreed food and after those total of 5 days you can eat everything you want.
I am planning on starting my journey next year, I have back and knee issues, I am considerably older than you but this gives me hope that I can do this
I work for a bariatric surgery program and you are doing great! I can tell that you were correctly educated by your program. Awesome, awesome job! Merry Christmas 🎄 And, keep following those rules!!
My problem with intuitive eating is I intuitively want junk food. Always. I can't trust my intuition. You have to really trust yourself to do intuitive eating.
Alex you are so sweet and humble, I love watching you been doing it for years. I enjoy watching just because of you demeanor. Thanks for being so transparent, remember there are things you can keep to yourself, if you need.
Water made me ill for a short time. My hair issues never got better so I keep my hair short. Even w the biotin pills, shampoos etc. I get dumping from fats instead of sugars and I’m 7 yrs out. My mom has the sugar dumping. It really is so personal. I’m so incredibly happy for you and this new journey/lease on life. It’s all about the hacks w food. I’ll say that soda even now foams and comes straight up, careful your not in public lol. I would have given so much to have had someone like you when I was going through my WLS. Love to you.
I had gastric sleeve in October 2016 and I was so surprised to learn that when they do the surgery they cut a part of your stomach out that produces a chemical called Gremlin, the chemical controls your stomach growling, so physically your stomach growls less.
I have not had the surgery yet (hopefully in may or June) but my nutritionist said I cannot have carbonated beverages because it would stretch my pouch 🤷🏼♀️. I am also a Capricorn and I have also had a tummy tuck. I hope I do as well as you are doing after my surgery.
Its so so nice having someone explain this that understands! Like the water! Omg. Add flavor packets and it changes how it feels in your system it is so weird. And how you explain feeling foods go through I always call myself frankenstein because the body is so different now. You are doing amazing keep it up girl! It will just keep getting better and you feeling amazing will keep you pushing harder ❤ It is so life changing
I’m 5 days post op and I’m feeling amazing. Please give us all of your recipes you have found so far!! My mom had it done five years ago and she can enjoy a few bites of things she wants, such as grilled cheese with her soups. She’s super healthy, but she does indulge when her body is craving it.
I had the gastric sleeve 3 years ago. And eating eggs a few months after the surgery they started to taste like bird as weird as that is....it did eventually subside. The water thing is real I could not drink anything without a zipfizz or Crystal Light when it came to bottled water I could only drink Smart Water. It was the only thing that didn't make me nauseated this has lightened up a little bit but it's still flares up from time to time as far as taste for water. You're doing great keep up the good work💖
It felt so weird eating food for the first 4-6 months for me. I could feel everything travel down and sit heavy in my stomach and it was so hard to drink water but after the 6 month mark, it got so much easier and didn’t feel so strange. I am now two years out and I have restriction but I can definitely get in the amount of food, protein, and fluids that I need to. I also eat healthier options because they sit well so it kinda forced me to have the lifestyle change that I needed because “unhealthy” foods don’t sit well in my stomach.
I’ve seriously been contemplating getting a gastric sleeve, but I’m not sure if it’s the best option for me. I lost 100 lbs. in the past on my own, but it didn’t stay off after 5 years. I’m such an emotional eater, and I get so depressed not eating satisfying food (“bad” options are my satisfying foods). Thank you for openly discussing your surgery. ❤️
I’ve never had this surgery but I have the same thing with water- and liquids in general but especially water. I just can’t drink too much of it at once by itself- it hurts my stomach and makes me feel nauseous sometimes too. Strange
Awe my sister had GSV 3 years ago and she hasn’t been allowed to have carbonated beverages because sometimes they can stretch out the pouch. She’s also off of caffeine completely and somehow she’s still awake 😂😂.
It’s because she has energy now. That’s like me. Before my gastric bypass, I used to have to eat something sweet or drink coffee to have energy. Now I just have a lot of energy. Almost too much lol I literally HAVE TO work out or I’ll go insane.
My nutritionist said that water is too thick (weirdly enough) she said to sprinkle the smallest amount of crystal light or anything like that to help with letting the water go down 👍
Thank you for your transparency, Alex! I wish I remembered more from when my husband had this surgery, but it has been so long ago. I definitely know that the technology from patent to hospital correspondence was not there like it is now. I'm happy for you and this journey.
Im having surgery soon and some of my family members have had this surgery too and they always scare me by saying it was so painful, it was so hard, how they got depressed from the mental changes, I just feel as you helped lower my anxiety because I’m over here thinking I’m gonna feel like shit and be depressed and never normal again when that’s not the reality so thank you
Thanks for your awesome videos. Congratulations on your surgery. I had mine on January 25, 2022 and have a very similar experience. I would love to see a video of your food hacks. Thx for sharing some!!!
I think the egg thing is common even for those who haven’t had this surgery. There was a time in the last year where I was back to tracking my macros and needed simple meals because I was also so busy and it was basically eggs for breakfast, a salad for lunch and either fish or chicken and steamed veggies for dinner. And EVERY DAY I either threw up or felt so sea sick/nauseous. Admittedly I’ve had a horrible stomach my whole life but I was so confused because I was eating all whole foods. It took me some time to realize I can’t eat eggs more than maybe once a week
before your 2 week low carb diet, did you have a “last meal”, and if so, what was it?! i feel like i’d get whatever i wanted and just go crazy one last time 😂
Hairloss is associated with not getting enough protein so make sure you get ur protein and stay on top of your vitamins! Yesss I couldnt handle plain water. I had to have crystal light or mio in it.
Girl you are soo brave for doing all of this to feel better despite of being anxious! There you can see how strong and fearless you are. I love your videos, you‘re such a great rolemodel for me! Keep going sweetie 💕
Hair loss happens about 4-6 months after surgery and lasts 4-6 months and it’s unavoidable. It has made me super self conscious but it’s finally stopped and I have about 2 inches growth back so that’s exciting
Oh my gosh, Alex! I have been off UA-cam for a bit focusing on myself so I didn’t realize you were having GB! I just had it December 3rd! I’ve been watching you for years and it feels like I have someone going through this with me. The fact that you’re a few weeks ahead is going to help get me though this! So excited we are both going through this journey!
Totally different surgery but I can't eat eggs after having my gallbladder out! I don't know why but they make me feel so sick now. Such a bummer cause I love them lol
i have a sleep study and colonoscopy left before i can meet with surgeon. My blood sugar was 460 and A1C was 13 in Oct, i changed my diet and now my blood sugar is 118 and A1C is 9.4 Last night was the first time I didnt have to use my walker to get ar ound. Everything is better!
Sorry new here, binge watching. You are so down to earth, love it. If you happen to see this, do you happen to know the lip combo here? I love the color and that gloss is fantastic, thanks!
Any eggs and plain water make me nauseous as well but it’s just from my previous pregnancy. My son is 3.5 years old and i was sick AF for my entire pregnancy. I still cannot hardly eat eggs and I have to drink lemon water, not plain. It’s so frustrating 😭
The water thing was sooooo true for me. My surgeon was like “just keep drinking water” but I was so disappointed every time I drank, immediately nauseous. I’m just over 3 months post op and it isn’t 100% better but it is getting better. And the fullness feels different than what you’re used to. It’s more of a “pressure” or a burp, a hiccup. Different signs that tell you you’re full. I read a cookbook from Amazon, “Bariatric cookbook” I’m not sure much else, bind was purple. But it was pretty important information to me personally.
You look beautiful…love your hair and festive nails. Also I just made PB blossoms yesterday and have 12 different cookie doughs still to bake. Lots of cookie trays for family, friends and docs. Gotta love traditions ☺️❤️
I had the sleeve 2 1/2 years ago and have never had hair loss! I was very diligent on biotin! if your nervous about it talk to your doctor about taking biotin!
So proud of you Alex! I know it’s not easy, but your doing great! Had my surgery in 2014. My favorite part is being able to feel full! God’s blessings always! 🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼💐💐💐💐💐. Love your nails!
Absolutely no shade intended- you have always made food with a healthy spin. I love love love watching you make things more nutritious. Question: how do you feel about this now? What has changed since then? For me-I had vsg and learned awesome hacks and recipes. Then I started expanding on my foods and flung myself into a downward spiral. The mental game months and years down the line is no joke. Therapist suggested I try OA. That has helped me deal with all my food issues! Saved my life.

I'm 11 years post gastric bypass, I'm still 10 stone down. Regain does happen but the best advice is when you put back on a few pounds get it straight back off. Calorie counting is my best friend Xxx woop woop for you gorgeous lady 💝😘🎉🌈
Alex, about the dumping syndrome I only got I when I ate Baskin-Robbins ice creams... so weird! The other thing was is that to this day all fast food "ice creams" ( if you can call it that) make me bloat and it is really painful. When I eat those is like someone just blew my stomach like a balloon. In my case the dumping syndrome it's really awful, truly it was like I was dying and my soul was leaving my body. If you ever in your life have had so much pain that you feel like you are fanting to me was like that but without the pain, that severe. Everything else has been more or less normal and I can eat everything else.
30lbs is so good thanks for keeping us posted hun im doing dietitian appts for 7months then ill get my surgery cant wait and for anyone who doesn't know every 10lbs is 1 size so losing 40lbs you would go down 4 sizes. Anyhow beautiful as always love ur vids hugs. Im excited to be able to walk without horrific excruciating foot pain just walking. 💙😇
In some ways I think having gastric bypass before kids will be difficult because it will be easy to slip into old habits when your tired stressed and anxious. But I have two toddlers in diapers and I have no Idea what Im going to do to cope after surgery. 😞
I make a banana egg pancake...2 eggs, 1 mashed banana, vanilla...mix and then drop by tbsp into pan and cook like a pancake. Top with Greek yogurt. I get same way with normal eggs.
I love seeing someone with a platform talk about WLS! I’m 10 months post op from VSG and I love seeing it more normalized! Also hair loss usually occurs around 4-6 months and yea unavoidable unfortunately. 😩 I have always taken all my vitamins and hit my protein goals and had a lot of hair loss still. I’ve even taken collagen the entire time post op. It just happens unfortunately. But the surgery is so worth it! My whole life has changed! So happy to see that you’re feeling good post op!
Water, foods, all kinds of things can be a weird trigger. Things tend to get better though! The important part is to test things again in a week or so!
Here early!!!! This is making my morning! I just love you Alex and I’m so proud of you for putting yourself first!! Alsoooo what is this gloss hunnyyyy!? 🤍😇💋
I also was feeling queasy after eating scrambled eggs.....think it has to do with how many I ate when on the soft food portion of recovery. I'm 1 yr out and still can't stomach scrambled eggs.....but can eat them in other forms no problems.
You will find your comfort zone and what works for you. Every one is different..Im 21 years post surgery and to this day I cannot eat steak or beef...makes me want to puke and I was a beef eating fool before surgery. Your tastes will change..Things you loved before you won't like now, and things you didn't like before you will love now. It's weird..i can't explain it but it does happen.....
So glad you are feeling better and seem so much happier ...good for you for helping yourself for your health while you are young...you are a beautiful girl

What no coffee.. that sounds like a miracle
It’s because she has energy now. That’s like me. Before my gastric bypass, I used to have to eat something sweet or drink coffee to have energy. Now I just have a lot of energy. Almost too much lol I literally HAVE TO work out or I’ll go insane.
visiting my parents in Costa Rica but i haven’t missed a single video love you Alex thank you for being you always 💕🥺
Thanks for the info! I am considering the surgery and really helps hearing your experience
Im having surgery soon and some of my family members have had this surgery too and they always scare me by saying it was so painful, it was so hard, how they got depressed from the mental changes, I just feel as you helped lower my anxiety because I’m over here thinking I’m gonna feel like shit and be depressed and never normal again when that’s not the reality so thank you
The water nausea- i got that while pregnant, and I still have now, 2 years later, if I drink water on an empty stomach, SO weird!!!!!
What about working out? How long do you have to wait after the surgery?
Thanks for posting this, I'm waiting to schedule my surgery as well and this answered some of my questions.
Awesome!! ❤️
I have that same back pain issue and OMG I now have anxiety about even going to the grocery store and it sucks.
Hello, where did you get your surgery done??
Thanks for your awesome videos. Congratulations on your surgery. I had mine on January 25, 2022 and have a very similar experience. I would love to see a video of your food hacks. Thx for sharing some!!!
YES!!! Water hits like cement - you'd think it would be the softest thing ever, but not in a tiny pouch! It does get better.
You look awesome and can totally tell you’re feeling better! ❤️
Please keep the updates coming, I am debating the surgery after a lifetime of struggle.
before your 2 week low carb diet, did you have a “last meal”, and if so, what was it?! i feel like i’d get whatever i wanted and just go crazy one last time 😂
Hairloss is associated with not getting enough protein so make sure you get ur protein and stay on top of your vitamins!
Just wanted to say how much I really enjoy your personality. It makes me happy to see you happy thank you for sharing your story ❤️
My hair loss started at about 6 months so i chopped it all off now almost 3 years later and its growing back alot fuller now!
Iv heard that after gastic byepass surgery sometimes you may suffer with nasel drip runny nose etc has this effected you at all after surgery
Hair loss happens about 4-6 months after surgery and lasts 4-6 months and it’s unavoidable. It has made me super self conscious but it’s finally stopped and I have about 2 inches growth back so that’s exciting
You are beautiful inside and out girl I am so happy to be apart of your journey nothing but positive vibes your way ✨
Oh my gosh, Alex!
My blood sugar was 460 and A1C was 13 in Oct, i changed my diet and now my blood sugar is 118 and A1C is 9.4 Last night was the first time I didnt have to use my walker to get ar
ound. Everything is better!
I wonder if the carbonated water bothers your stomach if you could use the Diet Coke syrup in like a regular ice cold glass or water?
plz link that shirt you have on during the beginning, thanks :)
Sorry new here, binge watching. You are so down to earth, love it. If you happen to see this, do you happen to know the lip combo here? I love the color and that gloss is fantastic, thanks!
So happy your doing well! I have the sleeve in less two weeks. Could you show us what your eating during the day!?
I need to know where you got your shirt
Crodshirts on Etsy!
What is OA?

I just finished my online seminar and my first appointment is febo 14th!!!
I started losing hair at about 4 months out, I’m six months now and it’s still a lot of fall out .. hoping it stops soon!
Thank you for this video. I'm 2 days post op right now and it's nice to have some insight of what to look forward to.
i’m so happy for you, Alex. you deserve to feel good. i’m happy this surgery went well for you and you haven’t had too many negative symptoms!
I’m 3 days post op revision from sleeve to bypass n down 6lbs. Going back to the post op diet is a mind game but i haven’t experienced any hunger
So happy to see that you’re feeling good post op!
thankful thats you havent had any bad experiences and i truly hope that it stays that way
Water, foods, all kinds of things can be a weird trigger. Things tend to get better though! The important part is to test things again in a week or so!
Here early!!!! This is making my morning! I just love you Alex and I’m so proud of you for putting yourself first!! Alsoooo what is this gloss hunnyyyy!? 🤍😇💋
Aw thank you!! 💕 & It’s a clear gloss from Ulta brand!
