    I find it so ironic that the leader who had helped humanity advance more than anyone else, couldn’t care less about said humanity…he was all doing it for his dream.
    The people who were really doing it for humanity, could never do what Erwin did, because they’d be stopped at every roadblock, and hesitate to make the tough decisions.
    The only reason why he could achieve feats like no other and progress by leaps and bounds, was because he was able to throw his humanity aside in the face of monsters, something that righteous humanity saviours couldn’t do.

    • @CasualBlueLemon
      @CasualBlueLemon  Рік тому +4

      I think you are precisely right.
      A person who fought with only humanity’s victory in mind, would have tried finding other ways to save as many people as possible. And perhaps that’s why no one was able to advance as far as Erwin. Because he was able to sacrifice more and therefore gain more.
      Thank you for your insightful comment! I enjoyed reading it :)

      while his dream was the main goal, he wasnt out-right selfish. I think he believed his dream was also the best course of action for humanity.
      If it was solely selfish reasons then he wouldnt have constantly put himself in danger and told his soldiers to ignore him the multiple times he was in danger, he would selfishly be ordering them to keep him alive so he can realize his dream

      He himself viewed and acknowledged himself as “bad” though. That’s the very reason why he stopped talking about his dream. While everyone else fought and gave their lives for humanity’s future, he alone fought to prove his father right. He’s led countless hundreds of soldiers to their deaths and cared very little for how many he had to sacrifice to achieve his dream. Achieving his dream was even of more importance than humanity’s victory. He’d literally have let the walls and everyone in them burn if it meant he could find the truth in the ashes. And some part of him hated himself for it.

      @@6ixlxrd I dont think he stopped talking about his dream bc he thought oh himself as a bad person. He stopped bc he knew if he kept on talking about it, he would also be killed just like his father

    • @6ixlxrd
      @6ixlxrd Рік тому +1

      @@dieAlbaKids He knew that from the jump though, yet the very FIRST thing he told everyone around him just as soon as he joined the military was his father’s theory and how he was gonna prove him right. That’s not something you do if you’re worried about being killed, therefore that’s not the reason he stopped. He himself said he came to the realization that everyone but him was fighting for something other than themselves. That quite literally translates to him viewing himself as a bad person. There’s even physical representation of that via him standing a top an entire mountain of corpses each with their eyes set angrily upon him.

      @Ian Taakalla you know that the Eldians are the Jews in this situation right 🤔

      @@Granglife Actually the germans during the interwar fits the eldians more than the marleyans. As the germans had felt that the world is out to destroy and eradicate them for ww1 (Of course, the inter-war period is less known and often overlooked but it's just a crucial)
      And from that combined hatred and will placed Adolf Hitler on top, a soldier who has been in that very war that broke his people and has now the chance to even the score and fight back. Fighting back he did, with his political agenda and soldier experience mixing in this eradicate them or eradicate us mindset which floch has.
      Of course the jews also fit this equation but not during ww2, but during the cold-war with the numerous wars they've fought and won against their middle eastern neighbors who wanted them eradicated off the map, transforming into this unstoppable force which now strikes fear into it's neighbors.
      I was only inclined to made this response because I don't like douche-like remarks thrown around the internet because someone feels like their opinion is the "truth",

      @Takeback the holyland bro Germans were treated like shit but they never once had the entire world gunning for their eradication, nor were they ever in threat of complete Annihilation
      Eldians have similarities to both parties yes but I'm just explaining how they lean more into the Jews because they're on the verge of extinction
      But I explained the difference being that Eldians have the power to fight back unlike Jews
      But they also don't have the support Jews had
      We're talking about people who about be eradicated so yh Jews are the closest example
      And no I'm not being a Douche but when people can't really comprehend a simple character like Floch they need to get their roast

    • @LibrarianSankore
      @LibrarianSankore Рік тому

      @@takebacktheholyland9306 While Germs are the good European comparison some of these fall flat.
      "As the germans had felt that the world is out to destroy and eradicate them for ww1" Literally no one was out to destroy the German race. Some Thulean society kind fucks did believe it but its like, fringe people kind of delusions and those that weren't just delusional were explotating Europe refusing to be ruled by germany and the existance of miscegnation(a bit more complex than that but Jews, French and Blacks were accused of it as a tactic to destroy the german race) as the evidence of the eradication of their race. This in no way compares to the actual threat that Eldians face in AoT.
      It wasn't World hatred that got the Germans on top. The reparations they paid weren't as crippling as people claim, for 1 Weimer germany didn't pay even half of it and Britain forgave some of the reparations to itself. NASI rise relies more on a reaction to the commie revolution attempt in Germany killing alot of people and some peculiarities of German nationalism, especially in Austria-Hungary where the existiance of other ethnic groups as pluralities in that state ensured a resistance to their nationalist goals from other ethnicities. So from communist revolts and mass killings came the anti-communism, from slavic opposition to german nationlism in austria hungary came the anti-slav stuff.

    Those who persist to the very end of this broken world, are those driven by the strongest motivations. Hate and love, epitomized by Eren. Hope and a sincere belief that they’re doing the right thing, exemplified by Zeke. What else could give these weak, human souls the strength to go on marching through hell?
    Erwin was driven by that insatiable curiosity. That insatiable desire to see his father’s words proved right.
    It was these self-same motivations that gave them the strength to become monsters. In service of their own vision of the ‘greater good’, they deemed that sacrifices were a necessary price to pay.
    Attack on Titan has many great lessons on the nature of the human condition, but one of them is made so clear here. Those who make it through hell, to the top of the world, must have beliefs ironclad enough that they are willing to become monsters to see their vision through to the end. Only the truly strong get to survive in this brutal world.

    0:52 "Then my father's theory became the truth in my heart." This video made me realize Erwin's flaw.
    A theory has to remain a theory until proven true, and that truth could then sit in someone's heart. Erwin went straight from theory to heart, and he didn't care how he did it until he found the truth. It now makes sense that he didn't know what he'd do after finding the truth out 😭

    2:57 на этом моменте я подумала, а какого быть таким человеком, который всё-таки пошёл за Эрвином, поверил в него и в его идеи, поверил в себя, всё это скомпилировалось и вот! В какой-то момент на поле битвы человек может "придти в себя" в значении "стать прежним", тем, кто никогда бы не пошёл на такое, если не встретил Эрвина. Опираясь на название данного видео, "The Devil", можно сказать, что солдаты и правда словно околдованы, словно в какой-то момент неведомая демоническая сила захватила их разум и сердце... I believe that, had Erwin Smith lived on as the colossal titan instead of Armin, while we may have lost a core cast member, in the end we may have also lost fewer other cast members. Or maybe more of them. But one thing is certain, he would have prevented the Jaegerists, he would not have let Eren take initiative. A lot of major tragedies could have been prevented by him. And he would have been supported by figures like Pixis who wouldn't have had to die. In the end, he was the leader who they needed but didn't deserve.

      based and yet somehow unpopular opinion sadly... Erwin Smith, a brilliant commander and leader replaced by a naive pacifist who wanted to "Talk it all out" ... would be interesting to see if Eren let them do their own thing how Armin and Hange would "talk it out" when the United Nations and Marley came to Paradis for a "visit" . At first i was hopeful since Armin was one of my favorites but as soon as i saw him visit the crystal i knew that Levi screwed up hard. If you rewatch the series notice how much Armin was actually influenced by Bertholdt, citing Marleyan spawn of the devil propaganda and generally being a very confusing/conflicting character
      Spolier warning
      In the end Armin, thanks to Eren (who he was ready to feed to another) who saved his life god knows how many times, gets with the enemy and holds a leaf, yet as we were shown he wasnt the right choice as Paradis got destroyed in the end. Was the brutal destruction of 80% of population and later the demise of Paradis, an island we called home for years as we followed the series, worth just to save the group of "pretend heroes". No. But hey, our crew is alive right? Sasageyoo! Sad... just sad.. This is just my take whether you agree or disagree with me i still stand on that everything you said is an absolute fact

      @@CasualBlueLemon As a big fan of English dubs, I would feel honored to create a dubbed version of it if you don't have the time. I don't need any monetization for it. Please let me know if you're interested. Keep up the great work!

      I’m sorry it took me so long to respond. I have thought about if I should make dubs or not (because I have gotten some requests before your) - and maybe I will in the future when I’m finished with all of the AoT characters (sub version). If I change my mind and decide not to make dubs, I’ll definitely get in touch with you. Your offer is very sweet and I appreciate it a lot :)

      @@CasualBlueLemon Wow! Thank you for getting back to me and considering my offer. I completely understand your decision to focus on finishing all the AoT characters in sub version before considering making dubs (Looking foward to floch's video). I cherish your willingness to keep me in mind in case you decide not to make dubs in the future. thankz

      Hey! It’s been a while, but I wanted to get back to you. I’ve been thinking about your offer since you commented, and if you’re still interested, you’re very welcome to make a dub version of this video. No pressure if you don’t want to - I just wanted to tell you just in case! 💙

    I wish they translated this video. Also never call someone who has a strong desire to protect humanity a devil. Erwin may have done horrible things but he did them for the sake of humanity. ( eldia in particular).

      Hi! I have English subtitles on all of my videos. My reasoning behind naming this video ‘The Devil’ is that most AoT characters thought of him as a devil. So I decided to make the video from their point of view. Hope that explains everything! Also, thanks for commenting on and watching my video :)

      They called him a devil because he sacrificed so many human lives for the sake of his dream, the sequence in where he stands in a pile of bodies describes how much of a burden he carries because he loved his comrades, he's not devoid of humanity but as Armin said: to surpass monsters, you must be willing to abandon your humanity, almost every single character in AOT has blood on their hands at this point because in order to move forward you need to be willing to make sacrifices and put your morals aside.

      His complexity doesn't come from his 'strong desire to protect humanity'. It was his strong desire to prove his father's theory in the guise of protecting humanity. He said it himself, 'I alone had dreams of my own'. While people around him was dying for the sake of humanity. But that doesn't mean he's an evil person. His dreams is what made the humanity move forward.
