Absolutely adore that song and this album. Big part of my adolescence, because my whole family were gorillaz fans (my mom owned demon days and self titled CD so I basically grew up listening to them).
I'm not sure If they intended another possible meaning but with global warming the sea life is diminishing but jellyfish population only increasing with warmer seas causing that to be a "main source of food" later on.
@@Luka-jk5ww It's both. Firstly, it's an ad in the middle of the album - but the ad is also a futuristic one where obviously climate change has affected food supply so much that people are needing to eat jellyfish. But the underlying message is that instead of working to fix the problem, companies will spend more time trying to sell the problem to consumers.
I really like Stylo but I dont find many others that do. Its not their *greatest* song but I really enjoy it when paired with its video. Although it might be confusing if watched by someone that didn't follow along with the story thing they had going on at the time.
This is one of the albums I keep coming back to over and over again. It delivers on the themes consistently, while doing so in a way that doesn’t ever get repetitive. It’s experimental, it’s vibrant, and it’s emotional. Love this one, and I’m glad you decided to check it out!
Honestly sweepstakes is one of my fav gorillaz song. it rly shows how music cant sound good if its not complete and it kinda sounds horrible at the beginning but upon adding instruments and new beats it becomes complete and is such a bop and to prove it again they remove everything from the music and it sounds bad again
Definitely one of my favorite band! And I must say I like your commentary on the album. Keep up the great work! Straight fire video 🔥🔥🔥...much love from Houston Tx!
Can't wait for you to check out Humanz, The Now Now, and Song Machine now They all have some of my favourites in, Souk Eye and Andromeda are two of those
I've always loved how Gorillaz have been simultaneously consistent and versatile with their music and I feel that Plastic Beach embodies that. Along with it's subtle messages and great collaborators, its definitely my favorite album from them.
Gorillaz is my favourite band by far and this album just........it's really special. This is probably the only album ever that I can say I love in it's entirety. I will drop everything to listen to this whole album.
I'd understand if you skipped gorillaz next album The Fall because most gorillaz fans don't consider it a real gorillaz album, but Humanz is another worldly experience. It's very jarring upon first listen but I don't think another album has ever grown on me like it has
@jolopolo4761 oh I love the fall, I got it on vinyl a couple months ago, I just know that most gorillaz fans and reaction youtubers pass over it cause there's too many instrumentals
I love the band and this album, but this took a little while to grow on me. Like there are spectacular songs, but I did need to warm up to other tracks. I think there is some overproduced songs. Where previous albums had layers, this album purposely crashes transitions from one track to the other. Overall I do enjoy this album.
Oh damn I was waiting for this one. This album came out when I was at the end of high school and It has consistently been one of my favorites ever since.
I know that you only listen to music on the channel, but you just have to watch clips for those songs that you have already heard, you miss such a beautiful part of gorillaz, their clips works of art
I would really recommend the album Songmachine if you want to listen to more Gorillaz. It’s an album with a different musical guest and Genre on every song. Humans and the Now Now are also good but a little inconsistent. Really loved your reaction. This album has aged so well.
gorillaz music is honestly just timeless, they somehow cater to all kinds of tastes, and are very tasteful and definitely follow along what's popular at the moment. their recent music is something that could be listened to in the beginning in the beginning of their career, and their old music doesn't ever feel old at all, in other words, like i said - timeless.
it's wild seeing how long it has been since plastic beach came out and nothing about the world changed, in fact it has gotten worse. The album is called Plastic Beach, a beach literally made out of plastic waste in the middle of the pacific ocean and most of the songs take jabs at how much our world and life style is screwed up consumerism wise.
The first video I watched in this channel is coincidentally the reaction of Demon Days, and the YT recommendations bring me to this reaction! Lucky to be here and thanks for doing this, Gorillaz is one of my favorite bands and I like Demon Days a lot! Great album for a great band for sure! Greetings from Brazil
If you liked this album, you should check out Dela Soul's: And the Anonymous Nobody. Dela have been one of Gorillaz most frequent collaborators and this album features Damon Albarn of Gorillaz on one of the best tracks. Good review 🤘✌
I’ve only just recently started listening to this album. LOVED stylo since it came out and I’ve only just heard on melancholy hill!!!!!!! OMG how have I never listened to this album yet Gorillaz actually make beautiful music
First video of yours I've watched and love your commentary and reactions. You may aswell continue in order and react to Gorillaz next album 'Humanz' soon please
Gorillaz played live in my country, Argentina, this year. Though I had known them for a long time, never paid enough attention to their music. So I started with Plastic Beach, whose sounds, images & feelings carry us to so many worlds.
I would really love to hear what you have to say about humanz by gorillaz, even though it isn’t a favorite among people I think there are a really good few songs on there that give it a chance!! 🥰♥️
I know humanz is disliked by a lot of people, but if anything it introduced me to a lot of artists I otherwise wouldn't have heard. If you check it out, at least listen to it for that. Benjamin Clementine is a great singer, and I wouldn't have heard of him without Gorillaz.
Empire Ants is the number 1 song I wish more reactors reacted to. One of the greatest songs ever written imo.
Same!!!
yes
yes! It's one of the most beautiful songs ever written
Absolutely adore that song and this album. Big part of my adolescence, because my whole family were gorillaz fans (my mom owned demon days and self titled CD so I basically grew up listening to them).
I think best song on the album. I'm also a fan of Little Dragon.
Empire ants is so damn good even after all these years. With that said give Little dragon a listen .
I love Little Dragon!
facts
Favorite gorillaz album! ❤️ Please listen to daft punk's discovery or nurture by porter robinson
two amazing albums 🥰
I second that. Nurture is amazing
Vouch for Nurture
I love DaftPunk and Discovery is my favorite album!
I Love Nurture, Daft Punk and Plastic Beach
On Melancholy Hill was mostly just Damon Albarn messing around with more of a pop sounding song and damn he came up with that masterpiece
The 8 song run of rhinestone eyes to broken is amazing. It's such a variety of different music genres executed fantastically.
the whole album is
The 16 song run of Orchestral Intro to Pirate Jet is amazing
agreed@@santicarbajal3927
People sleep on Sweepstakes. It's ugly but a blast.
Empire Ants and Broken are my favorites songs on this album
People don't understand how amazing some kind of nature is, lou's aged vocals, the subject matter and poppy beat all first class
The album name and cover art couldn't be more perfect.
It perfectly matches the album sound.
This album has some of the best synth work I’ve ever EVER heard
Glitter Freeze is fucking amazing
superfast jellyfish is a critique of the music industry and how hyper-commercial its become
I'm not sure If they intended another possible meaning but with global warming the sea life is diminishing but jellyfish population only increasing with warmer seas causing that to be a "main source of food" later on.

I love Sweepstakes, love how it switches up every time but the text stays the same
It's my favourite from the album
Sweepstakes gets a lot of hate
@@bigmankam yes I seriously love when the band comes in the song is so hype
One of my fav songs off the album. Not sure why it’s not well liked. When the brass came in, it was fire 🔥
@@skyleruballe2265 same, once the band gets going the song becomes crazy
Used to hate sweepstakes, now i love it lol

The vocals on Stylo are just 😘
it's brilliant
a groovy bit
damn really? It's the opposite for me, most Gorillaz fans I've met have Stylo at LEAST in their top 10 Gorillaz tracks
I like blasting Stylo when driving in the highway to the beach, fucking amazing everytime.
This is one of the albums I keep coming back to over and over again. It delivers on the themes consistently, while doing so in a way that doesn’t ever get repetitive. It’s experimental, it’s vibrant, and it’s emotional. Love this one, and I’m glad you decided to check it out!
This album is a master piece from start to finish 💚💛🧡💗💜💙
This album introduced me to Kano, Little Dragon, Mos Def and more! Love Plastic Beach!!!
I only heard your Demon Days reaction a couple of days ago, so no need to apologise for the delay lol
😂😂
Rhinestone eyes is the best one
de las mejores
Definitely one of my favorite band! And I must say I like your commentary on the album. Keep up the great work! Straight fire video 🔥🔥🔥...much love from Houston Tx!

awww no you didn’t include the satisfying change between super fast jellyfish and empire ants
I think you should look at their newest album next, song machine season 1 strange timez
Second this. Song Machine is easily a top 3 Gorillaz album and deserves so much more attention that it's been getting.
finally ive been waiting for this one!=
Nice that you reviewed this on Damon's birthday :). It is an absolutely brilliant album in every way
Definitely listen to either Humanz or Song Machine, both great albums
Yeah, Humanz is overhated. Song Machine was legendary also. Can't beat Plastic Beach imo though
I'd understand if you skipped gorillaz next album The Fall because most gorillaz fans don't consider it a real gorillaz album, but Humanz is another worldly experience. It's very jarring upon first listen but I don't think another album has ever grown on me like it has
thank goodness, some else who loves Humanz :)
The fall has such a unique vibe, i think people need to give it a chance and hear it with the right mindset

One of my favorite albums of all time, thanks for checking it out and I hope you enjoyed it

I saw this tour in PHX - they brought literally everyone from this album and most from demon days - absolutely amazing
One of Gorillaz best album
best gorillaz album, my top 10 all time easy
My favorite album by them!
Plastic Beach (the song) was one of my go to smoke sesh songs back in the day. Still have a big soft spot for this album
no headphones?? :(
I know that you only listen to music on the channel, but you just have to watch clips for those songs that you have already heard, you miss such a beautiful part of gorillaz, their clips works of art
i saw somebody comment requesting Nurture by porter robinson and i second that
Porter Robinson is high on my list :)
Do you plan to listen to the rest of the Gorillaz discography?
I need Nurture - Porter Robinson
I would really recommend the album Songmachine if you want to listen to more Gorillaz. It’s an album with a different musical guest and Genre on every song. Humans and the Now Now are also good but a little inconsistent.

Excellent video, if you can react to all gorillaz albums... Each album is totally different musical feet.
You should listen to Little Dragon - Ritual Union. One of their best albums in my opinion.
This album is still a 10.
there is no thrill like watching someone react to empire ants for the first time
Gorillaz 💪💪 awsome album. greetings from Argentina🇦🇷🇦🇷
Check out Nurture by Porter Robinson!
30:04, it makes sense that it sounds Carnivally, as Carousel was Damon's scratch project name. His father worked in various amusement parks.
That makes Merrie Land make alot more sense.
