Have just seen Dame Joan on the Graham Norton chat show talking about this moment. Apparently when they all went up on stage the girl handed the award to Joan, she looked over to John to come and make the speech but he wouldn’t as he’d already taken offence that they had handed the award to Joan. She said a few words, being the professional she was and then tried again to get Forsythe to speak but he refused and said “you’ve already said enough”… After this awards show he sulked for months and wouldn’t speak to Dame Joan for nearly a year! Jealous Prima Donna springs to mind.
Great that Joan had the presence of mind & professionalism to rise to the occasion & be gracious. Someone inadvertently handed the award to her first. Forsythe took offense & then "refused" to speak after Joan treated him with respect & professionalism. Linda & Diahann just stood there - and stood there. THE PROBLEM MAY BE SOMETHING ELSE. Joan was taught that every man was at her beck and call, Forshyte wasn't like that. Maybe he really did not like her, and this aroused in her aggression resulting from the rejection of her as a woman? Then out of frustration she would say after he died that he was a misogynist and stuff like that.

She asked for a 5,000$ increase per episode which wasn’t that much considering the total costs of the show. Aaron Spellling wanted to limit these costs because ratings were not as good as the years before and didn’t want the whole cast doing the same. So he went to the press and they announced “Oxenberg: Terminated”. That’s how she found out she was fired. And the replaced her by an American unknown actress who was fired mid season. Then the Amanda character was completely erased from the story and Blake and Alexis only talked about their 3 children (instead of 4). Catherine Oxenberg talked about it a few years later and she was not bitter about it. Just detached and amused about how the show business works.

John Forsythe took offence that year apparently. However, the same award was given to Dynasty on 1984 and 1985 and Forsythe gave the acceptance speech both times. As a result, Collins did not even appear on stage for the very same award in 1987. Nowadays, we would say he is entitled. Forsythe was definitely the unsufferable diva of the series.
Forsythe was a bit of a jerk. He was upset because the awards girl handed it to Joan first, so she gave the acceptance instead. Maybe if he weren't the last to get on stage and walked a little faster.

@@Inyourlap Catherine just wanted to earn what Heather got. ABC wasn´t happy with her and I think Spelling wanted to give a sign for the other young cast members not to ask for more money.
Here from Graham
WHEN WAS THE EXACT BROADCAST OF THIS PLEASE🙏?!!
To be fair there was a lot of pretty ladies in that show. But Linda Evans was just a natural beauty her eyes and her grace on stage and off.
I am not surprised that Linda stepped forward and was a little gracious, she was going to do that, or so it seemed, a few times. I just do not get the dynamics of them all.
When you reflect on the show. Lol. Its always her first mentally for me
@scorpio888
dynasty was really linda and johns show along with joan but in the beginning it was john and Linda that was what the show was about there love
BlytheWorld1972 but the show was a flop in the first season until joan came in as alexis in season 2 she was pretty much the viewers favourite from then on.. Without joan the show probably wouldn't of made it past season 2.
So Joan Collins recalled this essentially 100% accurately on The Graham Norton Show. You can see it on his face how annoyed he is.
But he wasn't coming up to the podium too quick and she did prompt him with "John?"
How rude and jealousy driven the colleagues of Joan!!!
No! How rude of Joan to go against the decisions of the producers. She was always up there first trying to have her say. In all fairness they should have allowed her to be the recipient one year.
John Forsythe you can't come back into the world for me... I would celebrate you
John looked so pissed,he should be happy joan took that show too a level that it wouldn't have ever gotten too, joan saved that show years before this silly behavior.
So the real drama is not Alexis vs Krystal but John vs Joan.
@Dynastiefr2 It's definitely a very awkward acceptance speech.
❤❤❤Dame Joan!!!❤️❤️❤️🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈She is a class act!!! John was so petty to make the situation so awkward given the fact that it was the fans who voted!!!
They are sabotaging Joan's moment, and trying to belittle her, but the only people on that stage that look like FOOLS, is them, because they know Joan is the REAL star, especially Linda Evans, who delivers the most limp half hearted Thankyou. cringe.
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. Joan asked Linda to join her at the desk, Linda shrugged her shoulders and said no, only then to just lean forward pathetically and make a halfhearted thankyou, she didn't step up to the mike as you said, she ignorantly just pushed her head forward, this is rude and obnoxious to the people there and to the audience, but she did it to offend Joan most importantly. you can think what you like, but i have my own opinion, thankyou.
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. Excuse me, i am not confusing her with anybody, my comment is my opinion, and it ISN'T any of your business, , so stop trying to correct me on my view, you can disagree all you like, but i don't appreciate being corrected by you, learn how to handle other peoples opinions, You like Linda, i don't, get over it.
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. No i am not confusing her, she acted obnoxious and rude in this video, while Joan acted like a professional, what are you talking about.
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. Are you another one of those bored lockdown idiots, who go around attacking peoples opinions, because you can't handle anyone with a different view to yours, are you REALLY that pathetic. keep provoking, it's hilarious watching your flaky liberal attitude play out. . Linda is a vile witch here, Joan is amazing, Hahahaha Deal with it numpty. you will never change it, Hahahhaa
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. Just as i guessed, an offended snowflake desperate for attention, instead of just accepting MY VIEW, you continually contact me to tell me i am wrong, offended little baby you are, how embarrassing.
@Rowi73
why?
I heard she asked for more money but they said no,later she talked about the bad salary in a interview and got fired the next day!
Catherines "Amanda" was my fav along with Heather Locklear.
You should watch the e true Hollywood story on dynasty. Joan never was fired, she asked for a raise and got it at the time she was the highest paid female actress. John was very jealous because the show started as him being the star but once Joan came on it was clear that she was the show.
When men say women are too emotional and they shouldn’t be put in leading roles… pffft. A LOT of older men are just like John. This is sooooo embarrassing for him, he acted like a toddler 😂
A lot of men not just older men. Never been to a club where there wasn't atleast one scuffle over an accidental drink spill on someone or something as silly.
The Graham Norton show brought me here.
What a petty man John was. Poor Joan.
The boss was Joan and not John
My God, the anger in his face. How petty.
Damn!!! Sexism is still alive and well reading these comments! Dame Joan saved the show from being cancelled and John still got higher pay and in his contract it stated he got to be larger and front and center in all Dynasty photos!🏳️🌈❤️🏳️🌈❤️🏳️🌈 Sorry but what in the Hell would Dynasty have been without Alexis!!!
Joan's a class act, John...no so much.
Based on Joan's take on the Graham Norton show no doubt and not based on this actual clip from the ceremony she references.
@@Garsons-oq4lh Indeed! She totally tried to steal the show - as usual. John was just sick of it and left her hanging.
The big Boss was Joan!!!
John obviously didn't know it was Joan who was the star...as a kid. I knew Joan Collins by name. I knew "that guy" as the voice of Charlie on Charlie's Angels. Lol
eiamos dinastia con graciela mihermana los domingo
Ouch John wasn’t happy , Joan stood strong
How massively massively AWKS 😂 Go Joan 🎉
He embarrassed himself. Lost all respect.
She embarrassed herself......her ego created that mess when she was not asked to receive and speak.
Joan ever the glittering professional. Forsyth the old bitter misogynist.
Dig a little deeper......
@@rah1721 I did, that's how I know that Joan is ever the glittering professional. And
Forsyth the old bitter misogynist.
@@sebetc7 It's actually the other way around. She created the mess by refusing to honour the wishes of the producers.
I never liked John Forsythe , I'm pretty sure they could have found someone much better for the role of Blake. Joan Collins is one in 10 billion , she's awesomely talented and beautiful ❤
Joan is normally so immaculate with maquillage but she made a faux pas this time with that blanched pallor, and why not show your natural hair Joan on this occasion?
We are all here after Graham Norton 😂😂😂😂😂😂
John Forsythe took offence that year apparently. However, the same award was given to Dynasty on 1984 and 1985 and Forsythe gave the acceptance speech both times. As a result, Collins did not even appear on stage for the very same award in 1987. Nowadays, we would say he is entitled. Forsythe was definitely the unsufferable diva of the series.
John was a preck
He acted like a jerk
Joan and Michael B_lined it for the stage. She probably felt as though she was the reason for the award.
she was
Forsythe was a bit of a jerk. He was upset because the awards girl handed it to Joan first, so she gave the acceptance instead. Maybe if he weren't the last to get on stage and walked a little faster.
Your last sentence is the clue......Joan deliberately always got up there first so that she could usurp things.
Heather Locklear....Sammy Jo....no1....tv star Forever....legends👍👍👍❤💕❤💕💋💋⚘⚘
@Dynastiefr2 Wow, I'm very amazed to hear that. I would never have thought that John would be like that. But he really had no choice, Joan immediately went to the microphone and spoke.
He came to the stage LAST! Did he expect the presenter to ignore the 20 people on stage until he got there???? Plus Jackie (and Diahanne Carroll) were the reason for the shows popularity anyway.
Geez ,joan just happened too get there first she tried too give it to John that's kinda ,petty of him.
She truly made the show not sure why John’s the big boss, typical male chauvinist society.
What an arrogant man. She was gracious and offered for him to speak, but he declined and behaved childishly.
She was not supposed to speak in the first place but raced up there first as usual to try and usurp things.
If looks could kill.........( hey John )..............lol
Joan was dynasty. Fact!
Sad to say the least I see my all time favourite actor in a different light now Joan called on him to say something he declined very imature and childish I thinks Joan Collins definitely made the show what it was it was slowly going down the Pan until Joan arrived
Oh please. Judging from this clip Joan's recollection of it on Graham Norton is not entirely accurate. Her words on Norton, (John) 'She said enough.' What he actually said was, 'No, you said it.' Joan then recounts how John 'walked off' but he doesn't do that at all here.
That "big boss" comment was shady though. 😏
Nah... she could see John's face and thought her statement would freshen him up... It didn't, so Joan carried on a bit longer.
John was maaad, lol. Hey John cool down, we want eye candy not you , so its good she did the thanking, lol
What childish behavior going on here, Joan is very dignified and gracious in comparison.
Made himself look like a right nob! Bad actor!
Joan asked John to come forward but he didn't, I heard he was annoyed with Joan and didn't speak to her for some period after. If this is true then it is really sad, Joan was really professionnal and let's face it Dynasty would not have been a success without her.
