That was a great group of women who were nominated but the great Jane Wyman definitely deserved the award. She WAS Falcon Crest and she brought it in every single episode.
She was so terrific in FC. A truly outstanding performance, and I think she was at her best in Season 3, so they even got that right! A shame that she was never recognized for the Emmy for her role as Angela Channing.
So nice to see the audience (which included Cliff Robertson & Paul Newman) so appreciative of her comments !! She was a bit salty but funny as hell and so down to earth.
Cliff Robertson was at her table along with Susan Sullivan, Lorenzo Lamas, and Michael Reagan (her adopted son). Cliff was Dr. Ranson on FALCON CREST that year she won that Golden Glibe Award.
Humergutt how about showing this great lady some well deserved respect?!? This is JANE WYMAN .star of Johnny Belinda , and so many more great fims. SHE was HOLLYWOOD !! She was just having fun with the audience, most, who would give anything to have a career half as great as hers.
@@daniel-johnlavaly4770 I think Joanie won in 1981? Cou;d have been 83? Morgan Fairchild was nominated the year Joanioe was nominated. Fairchild should have won. Better bitch!
a reason Wyman and Lamas were so good together is that she literally knew him from birth - his father left in the middle of The Jane Wyman Show (it was live) when Fernando was called to the hospital during his difficult birth - plus his two mothers Dahl and step mother Williams were very good friends of Wyman
In my opinion this show never got the true recognition it so richly deserved. This was an era when Primetime TV was @ it's 🔥 fiery best unlike this crap they call television today🤔😳🤔How the heck did we go from shows like Falcon Crest to these housewives reality shows😫?
Wish there these kind of shows again like Falcon Crest, Dallas, Knots Landing & Dynasty. Those were the days! And those were great TV/movie stars. Not like today! ❤
Lovely to see this clip, thanks....but it was for Best Actress in a Drama Series, not Best Supporting Actress. Jane was very much THE star of that show
If they were to reboot FC today, they would have to cast someone in power with as much sass, if not more, than what Jane Wyman gave her character and I don't think it would come easy. When my folks watched this program, I remember being scared of her and watching it now, not much different. lol She played the role very well.
Ms. Wyman was a great star and a fine actress. I thought she was fantastic as Angela Channing . As good an actress that ever was in Hollywood she was also a Lady who never ever talked about Ronald Reagan ever. For that much honor
she did when she attended the services at his funeral and upon Reagan's death in 2004, Wyman put out a statement about Reagan, stating, "America has lost a great president. And a great, kind and gentle man." Wyman refused to gossip about anyone and she was known for being one of the most loved actresses from the Golden Age.
Jane finally got old enough to say the truth that we all knew :-) that she was a b****, and so many of us are when it involves our work. I love Jane all the more. It is clear too that she was enjoying herself and had had a couple of drinky-poos.
I took her "bitch" admission related to her Angela Channing character and not Wyman herself, but maybe you're right! I've read she could be demanding of the cast on that set.
Wow! You're way off in your assessment. She was happy to be recognized. Not drunk. And she was referring to Angela being a bitch. Bit herself. Jane was a classy lady. She demanded professionalism. She took her career seriously. She expected everyone to come to work and know their lines. If that is too much to ask, then it's a good thing none of you are actors.
@1111cedargrove Back then, personality was the fuel to a great performance. I think that's why so many modern actors are so dense on screen. Case in point: Meryl Streep. Anyway, film is all about exhibition: close ups, psychological glances revealing internal struggle, the works. Classic movie stars like Wyman were able to bring more of a theatrical element to their work where they could show off more and add gestures to their performances.
Well, its not like she had much to be regretful for in that regard. At least she loved herself that much. I mean, how many times can one see "King's Row" already?!
way to poke fun and get serious attention. If I ever get an award I did not expect, I will quote Jane Wyman, whose greatest personal accomplishment in her personal life, was divorcing Ronald Reagan.
@@Yobbie72 You are acting like she broke the home and bares all the fault. It takes two to break up a marriage, ideally. Who knows? Maybe she caught Ronnie getting a blow job from Nancy and knew it was time to quit.
sick comment from a know nothing - Wyman never said anything but good things about RR, saying he was a great man - she divorced RR because he was a left wing Democrat and she couldn't stand that he wouldn't stop talking politics, Wyman was always a Republican
@stanmarcusgtv yes, he was so great, thousands of HIV/AIDS patients died because of his on-it attention to the disease. He was so great, those Contra resistors paid for themselves to break up a burgeoning democracy without Iran's help. He was so great, Wall Street self imploded in 1987 due to his anti-anti-regulation efforts. RR was a great man, indeed. /s
LOVED Ms. Wyman. (Jill St. John looked like a classless, desperate circus clown in that sequined rag. She probably got it at a Macy's "Half-off" sale.)

I still watch this clip every now and then - pure class
She was such an intelligent woman with a great sense of humor. She and Lorenzo Lamas who plays her grandson were great pair
That was a great group of women who were nominated but the great Jane Wyman definitely deserved the award. She WAS Falcon Crest and she brought it in every single episode.
What a wicked sense of humour she had priceless
She is fantastic! She was so brilliant as Angela Channing on Falcon Crest. Wonderful lady.
The fabulous Jane Wyman. I remember her well.
LOVE Jane Wyman! A marvelous actress with such grace and wit!
Back when nighttime soaps got respect at award shows! Loved all these shows back in the day.
Amen
Jane is utterly adorable here......God bless her, she's in our hearts forever!
Love Jane Wyman - such a wonderful actress!!
Jane Wyman: A true class act. Loved hearing her utter genuine laughs.
I loved watching her as Angela on Falcon Crest. What a great actress! She seems so genuine.
Gosh, I am rediscovering classic shows and always loved Falcon Crest! ❤️

Recommend her outstanding performance in the classic film JOHNNY BELINDA (1948), she received her well-deserved Best Actress Oscar. 😀
yay jane and jill st john.....
I’m such a Bitch! Best line Ever!😎
Absolutely brilliant!!
Fabulous!!!
i remember all those shows from the 80s
LOVE her! She's hilarious.
Falcon Crest truly one of the BEST shows if you can relate to the humor and dialogue of the 80s. Angela Channing had all the tricks up her sleeve.
And all the best one-liners (beside David Selby).
01:02 The manner of speaking, her expressions... like Otis the town drunk on The Andy Griffith Show.
She WAS Falcon Crest. So deserved to a legendary actress.
The queen of the melodrama. Love her.

she won the oscar for film johnny belinda!!!
Jane RIP and I love the comment ”I’m such a B-h”. 👍💪😁

Jill St. John, OMG!

Today's would-be stars look so so so pathetic compared to this humble and witty "performance"!
As a kid I'd stay up late to watch her as Angela Channing!

Tyne Daley is the true actress n that group.
That Mamie Eisenhower hair!Yikes!lol

No.its Jill st.john
She looks so much better than she did on the show. That curly hair did her no favors I guess.
