- This chocolate cake hack will turn any box cake mix into a bakery style or homemade cake! The best I have made so far! Decadent and rich!
Ingredients Used
For the cake
1 box chocolate cake mix
1 small pk instant chocolate pudding
4 eggs
1 cup melted butter at room temperature
1 cup cold half and half
1 Tbsp instant coffee
1 Tbsp cocoa powder (*Dutch process)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
For the frosting
1 cup powdered sugar
3 Tbsp butter at room temperature
10 tsp whole milk (add 1tsp at a time)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract

I made this tonight. I WILL NEVER, EVER MAKE CAKE ANY OTHER WAY AGAIN 💯. I used two pans. The cake is sooo moist and fluffy at the top. I made my own frosting. The mix is almost the consistency of a chocolate mousse 💜🥰

The ONLY thing I do differently is add the butter or coffee just a smidge heated (only when doing chocolate cake) -- the heat will help the cocoa powder flavor "infuse" (just trust me on this small change!) -- I also pull cakes out just short of the tooth pick being completely clean/dry -- everything else is ON POINT and I'm so happy to have found you! I can tell by this one recipe and your tricks that I will love your channel!
*If you want to "up" your decorating, simply add some cake crumbs and/or nuts (pecans or walnuts) to the outside -- these small additions will elevate it to a "quick" masterpiece! ❤
@Silence if using coffee then use it while hot or heat it a little in the microwave, or you can melt butter and mix it while still warm -- if using milk you can also warm the milk up a little before mixing -- hopefully this makes sense and helps!

I made this recipe in cupcakes for my nieces birthday party but instead of 2 cups of butter I substitute 1 tbs with vegetable oil and then use the remaining in butter. Taste super moist and yet firm so this recipe is good for stacking cakes as well. Thanks for sharing this amazing box cake hack recipe.

This is what they call guilty pleasure. Oh my! It looks so rich. This instant coffee added to the mixture will take it to a whole other level. The half and half really combined well with the coffee. Absolutely if you want that richness to cheat on once in awhile, this is the way to go. Never follow the box instructions. I will say go with your own delicious twist on it. Cooking like i always say is a form of art. You see what works and you make it your own like a chef. Great content. Tfs an amazing recipe. Love it.

🇨🇦 Mansa, Some of our ingriedences are a little different than U.S.A and hard too find sometimes. I always use milk in cake recipes no(water) l have tried my third cake followed too a tee and a very big hit

Oh yes you can. I suggest you make it thicker so use less milk. 3 teaspoons is usually all I add for that consistency. Thanks for watching dear sis ❤️

Mansa..I have searched high and low locally anyway..no one has the triple chocolate cake mix..the only other triple chocolate is Betty crocker.. says it has pudding in it..or should I use D Hines devils food
