there's a limited slip system by brakes that simulates the function of an actual mechanical lsd. I don't remember what BMW calls it and it certainly doesn't work as consistent as an actual lsd, but it gets the job done quite well.
I think what these guys are saying it has electronic traction control and it works reasonably well as to not completely kill your power while still allowing the rear to squirm a bit under load.
the platform has really really good rear grip compared to typical rwd cars. 5 link rear end, they do not one wheel badly. Sure, if you do a burnout it will, but my car puts down 400whp and won't spin in the dry in 2nd gear. First is useless tho. I launch in 2nd, do a 0-60 in ONE gear (roughly mid 4s 0-60) and never have grip issues.

Basically what it does is to put light brake pressure on the wheel that spins so that the other wheel gets more power
