When she hit Broadway, the critics and more importantly the real music men, like Lerner & Loewe and Rodgers & Hammerstein immediately recognised her star quality. She became unfashionable as society changed but 45 years on the quality still shines through.
Chris Norton never underrated nor did it get out of fashion! Her singing is ageless, never gets old, am most certain most especially for those who appreciate real talent & music

She displayed her all round talents on her Emmy winning TV series only for it to be scheduled at stupid times of the day and dropped. She wasn't doing anything wrong but public taste was going through a sour mood.
Moon River is such a beautiful song, but in Julie's voice is simply SPECTACULAR! What a voice! And certainly, you can tell by the way Mancini looks at her that he adored her!

Sadly, Julie needed surgery which effected her vocal chords and with deep sadness, she lost her ability to sing. I have heard Julie Andrews speak of this, she went through a great mourning period for the loss of her voice. This is why Lady Gaga sang the songs from "The Sound of Music" at the Oscars.
I wish her Julie Andrews Hour would be available on DVD... been looking for it! Hard to believe her awesome show didn't go on air for the longest time, that was before my time but watching clips from her brilliant & spectacular performances, why America?!?!

Julie is my STAR & Queen! Talent wise, charm, personality a beauty inside & out! Her charisma & affection are genuine every single person who has ever worked with her or has had the pleasure of meeting & knowing her always attest to that! She is a goddess!
Cant really compare with Julie, because Julie is a classically trained coloratura musician, with perfect pitch. It was said that her voice could tune a piano and ears pick up the slightest wrong in pitch in any musician in the orchestra pit.
Class, elegance, and beauty perfectly describe Julie Andrews, not the nasty skank which is Barbara Streisand. Julie Andrews had an absolutely beautiful singing voice before surgery destroyed it. While Barbara Streisand does have a very nice singing voice if she's singing a song in super-slow tempo, the superstar simply can't sing outside of a very tiny range/niche. Also, the woman is selfish, shallow, and empty on the inside and simply has no soul.
