    I saw an interview with Christopher Plummer and he said that if Julie hadn't been in a relationship at the time that they made The Sound of Music, they would probably have got together. The implication was that they'd always loved each other but unfortunately never got together in real life. I'm glad to hear they're still very good friends.

Mr. Plummer has the same grace and class. I am happy these two masters have each other as friends. My mouth just drools with the richness of such friendship.

    Julie Andrews pointed out the importance of therapy, the clarity it helps you achieve. If you've tried it and it didn't help, you didn't find a good match for yourself. You have to seek out a good therapist fit for you.. They don't let you just talk non stop and cry about everything that hurt your feelings. They listen to what you say is affecting you and what you'd like to achieve over the next while. After 2-4 sessions they should be giving you tools to apply in situations that cause anxiety or whatever your dealing with that you need to figure out how to knock down that wall or jump feet first into something that has you frozen stiff. I only needed 8 sessions, really 6, but I assured her I needed to come again. But I didn't need to for the reasons I thought, she just reassured me of how to apply what she had taught me. And you may need less sessions or more it just depends on what your reason is for going. Now it's not a quick fix, you've gotta apply the tools and instructions she gives you at the times in need. I promise you she's right. But some places look at you as money, so they want you to keep coming back and coming back. Now yes sometimes you need someone to just spill your guts out to, but you see them like once a month, 4-8 weeks. That's different. However just as important.

    • @idde4345
      @idde4345 5 років тому +11

      It's extremely important to find a good fit. Someone who is capable enough to tailor the type of therapy you need, at that moment. Some people are good with eight sessions, others might need years. But yes, going to therapy to achieve clarity (and possibly other stuff) can be terribly important. And yes. Why not?

      @emfisher8168 5 років тому +6

      @@idde4345 Yes I'm for therapy for what ever your need is. Spell check changed some of my words. If it came across any other way. I was hoping the way she said it would help others who've had a bad experience or afraid to go because of the ridiculous stigma about going to a "Shrink". I was hoping to share my experience when I finally found a great match for me who didn't just sit there and let me relive horrible situations from my past. Someone was able to help me, help myself. It changed my world. I could say a lot more about how much better peoples lives could be if they'd take the time and give it some effort. I also like that she mentioned how you should really look into it if you can afford it. It's crazy that insurance barely cover the Wellness Field.. Like therapy, physical therapy, chiropractor and massage therapy. Of course the Pharmaceutical companies wouldn't have that. Anyways yes I agree with you 100%, And wish I could share it with everyone who is missing out for one reason or another..

    Just watched an interview with Kristen Bell talking about her depression and anxiety, and now here Julie Andrews is touting the benefits of therapy. I think it's awesome that some of the stigma around mental issues is getting better. Honestly, I think pretty much everyone could benefit from therapy (assuming you have a good therapist!). You learn to be more self-aware about your emotions and why you react to other people and situations in certain ways, and learn tools to help you have better relationships and a more enjoyable life. I tend to repress and bottle things up because I hate conflict, but therapy has helped me improve my communication and learn to address things before everything builds up to the point of blowing up. A lot of us have developed less than healthy coping mechanisms throughout our life that we aren't even necessarily aware of until someone else points it out.

    She's like a virtual "Mother" figure to me and no doubt many others. The Sound of Music was on TV about once a year when I was a child, eventually got it on video tape and used to watch it on a regular basis to the point where I can pretty much quote every line and every song. It's probably on my real Mother's top-3 favorite movies list (#1 being An American in Paris). Julie Andrews, just her name evokes thoughts of purity and perfection, but she is refreshingly real and brave to talk about some of her darker moments. Why talk about your therapy? Why not? If it helps somebody else... Bravo!

    Damn, Jon Batiste killed it on that intro music. It's his best performance to date. I'm not exaggerating. I love her at 0:47, "What is that music?!". First video I'm liking just because of the intro music.

    A big chunk of that book is about her challenging marriage to Blake Edwards and her later work including her losing her voice and all that she has done "without a singing voice". She was on another show recently and shared those things and it was a delight to hear her talk so graciously about dealing with losing her voice (a botched surgery which she sued the doctor for and won a huge undisclosed settlement). You know that it was devastating but she shared how she came to realize that her identity was not just with her voice though she had been singing professionally since she was 13 (she is 84 now) and she is doing a number of other very satisfying things now. It would be fun to have had her daughter Emma on with her and hear how she was involved with the book project (she helped her mom on her last two books). Julie Andrews is a treasure and a beautiful soul.
