I know this is a comedy sketch but there is so much truth in it. I lived like this for a huge chunk of my 20’s. I probably could’ve paid off my student loans with all the money I spent on delivery.
This is why I meal prep now. Literally all my chopping and some of my cooking is done once a week. I freeze in little single serve containers and fridge some other stuff. I can't believe I haven't been living this way my entire life. Feeding myself is an absolute convenient dream for the rest of the week.
Not really. Just do the dishes and get over it FFS Not complicated. Not time consuming. It takes a few minutes and the most basic of sensibilities. What TF is wrong with people?
Buying prepped meals for like €5 per meal at stores nowadays is a pretty solid way to not cook when you are living alone. And still have money left at the end of the month.
@@TheRICKY85 I don’t even use recipes. What I mean is how do you physically make that much. I guess it requires a HUGE pot, or just multiple pots of the same thing. And that’s also a tonne of ingredients to use all at once. Then it requires so much space in the freezer. I don’t have that much free space.
I either use a big pot, and/or combine it after. My freezer isn't large either, but I also don't put much else in it. I think I usually use a kilo of mince, two kilos of veggies and a kilo of carbs.
@@TheRICKY85 i unfortunately only have access to one of those tiny freezers which is in the top part of a fridge and has a giant unused ice compartment, and it’s shared with two other people… I can fit 4 frozen meals in there max… But also it takes me so long to cook I wouldn’t have the energy to do much more.
For real though, I've found I can get away without cooking by buying ready-to-eat or super-easy-to-prepare food from the grocery store, and it's not that expensive. Making sandwiches is the most effort I regularly put into preparing a meal. I buy cheap fruit, breakfast cereal, canned condensed soup, bagels, and occasionally ramen. Meals only cost me about $2.50 USD on average, which is worth it given the time I save. I also drink a meal replacement beverage called Soylent when I don't want to have to think about what to eat.
I loath cooking so much that I eat pretty much the exact same snacks every single day and say I'm counting macros. Think fruit, cereal, nuts, chicken sandwich, protein shakes, cans of tuna. Nothing requires heating up or preparation. It's the way to live.
I used to order food every day. Five years ago I realised it was too much money and I decided to start cooking for myself and limit ordering out to once or twice a week at most and I also cut out Starbucks and the like as well as alcohol. I estimate I saved at least 25000 euros in five years. When you spend just a little bit every day you don't realise how quickly it adds up.
Just to let yk guzman is actually a pretty healthy decent calorie option and muscle nation is great with protein. unless you eat a whales worth you wont get fat
“Obviously I’m going to go from blowing $700 a week on food to living in a mansion and having a fast car. I can’t figure out how to cook but how hard can being old and rich be?” 😂
700$ a week is crazy wealthy. Like 5-6k$ of monthly income if you include other expenses and you don't even get anything left for the next month. How could someone with no financial self-control get to that level of income?
I pay 500 bucks a week for a part time chef to cook me dinner. Its a good value. Half of it goes to the food they take 50 bucks for the 2 hours of getting fresh organic farmer market food and cooking.
There are two types of friends. The friend that you want for the love god to stop spending incredible amounts of money on useless things, and the friend that it feels like pulling teeth to get them to so much as buy new socks when theirs have holes in them and are disintegrating.
To anyone out there who hasnt yet: BUY A FREEZER, not that little eetsy bitsy ice box in your fridge does not count. Get a proper freezer off gumtree or whatever your local second hand shopping solution is. Great savings and lots of pasta dishes await you. And yes you can literally freeze ANYTHING if you dont mind the taste. How to deal with stuck together stuff? Microwave but 2mins at defrost only. Gets you just far enough for separation.
The other issue is my palate is now so refined from uber eats that when I rarely do actually go to the grocery store I spend like 200 bucks buying fancy gourmet ingredients to make one world class 5 star meal. It's a catch 22.
Cut up some squash bell pepper onion whatever you have on a paper plate, microwave a prepackaged bowl of minute rice, sautee veggies in a pan with olive oil on medium and season to taste, add rice to pan whenever it’s done, cook a little more, put food on paper plate. Eat with plastic spoon. You now have veggies and rice with only a dirty knife and dirty pan. I try to make quick, cheap, easy meals that only take minimal dishes, it’s somewhat healthier and way cheaper than Doordash when I feel exhausted. Frozen meals like steamfresh are helpful too.
It’s usually either people who are staying with family and aren’t paying rent and thus can afford to spend what they would have on rent on eating out/takeout, or people who just have extra money for some reason
Cooking is not hard: *Chef spends 20minutes in the grocery store and does an hour of prep work to get everything ready for cooking* Chef: And now I'll show you how to cook two portions of food in only 10 minutes.
Key is doing things in batches. Get a rice cooker, five minutes of active prep and you can make enough for a week. Frozen veggies are a good time saver. You can cook up a large amount of, say, chicken breast, at one time and use it for various different kinds of meals (rice bowls, tacos, soup, sandwiches, whatever).

Every single video calls out a specific weakness of mine recently. Even if it's a bit exaggerated from my situation
I cook in bulk and freeze everything, out of financial necessity and laziness. One meal for dinner, for a month.
How do you make that last a month? At most I think I have made 9 servings out of one cook up. Usually it’s only around 6.
