  • Here it is!
The first round of the California Enduro Series.
Georgetown Ca. was host to the Enduro event for the first time in history & we all got to be the first racers with number plates aboard our favorite mountain bikes!
So incredibly stoked to race out here as I got the chance to ride here once just over a year ago with the California Expedition shuttle services & the MTBNorCal race team.
This year I have had many changes happening in my life and I was simply too busy to get up and pre ride this race course. I still wanted to come and give it my all going in Blind & I did my best to ride well and smart.
Ended up finishing about mid pack or 11th place in my expert level category of men 30-39years old. Felt pretty confident and calm most of the day even being on a brand new bike & having not seen these trails in over a year.
Huge thank you to Shaun from N1Bikes.com for coming through to help me get on this Rocky Mountain Instinct just 2 weeks before this race! He has so many awesome bikes in stock at his store in Tennessee. From Rocky Mountain to Ibis & Intense he’s always got many bikes available in stock! Give him a call and mention me “Bike Somm” and have free shipping delivered to you wherever you may live.
The Rocky Mountain Instinct 29 did very well for a race like this.. I felt pretty good on it too for only having ridden it about 7 or 8 times before race day. I did feel as tho my confidence was lacking a bit where things got really high speed and chunky, as I’m much more accustomed to smashing aboard my old Santa Cruz Megatower with 170mm front & 166mm rear travel Vs. the Instinct’s 150mm & 140mm build. All in all it’s hard to compare two completely different bikes entirely in any sentences, but I really enjoyed changing pace and skill sets by seeing how another bike feels and handles in a more “True Race Fashion”
I’m happy to be able to say that things will be changing even more soon with a new job opportunity I’ll be taking up with Norco Bikes! More on all that in another video later on..
With much more to come, I hope to keep making more racing style videos and document more of these awesome events and my adventurous life journeys.
Thanks for watching everyone enjoy the Full & Raw Uncut Shredding from the first ever California Enduro Series Georgetown Enduro 2022 ⛰🏁🚴🏼 💨

Appreciate these videos! Me and my son are hoping to race some of the CES this year. It's completely new to us... we're going to try to pre-ride well ahead of the events but it's really helpful to get an idea of what the courses are like.

Absolutely, THIS is exactly why I've been making all these "Full" race course coverage vids! It's been my goal to showcase all the local and non local enduro events, so that any future riders looking to race the series can see the full stages before signing up. I'll still have Northstar's Enduro & the season ending Ashland Mountain Challenge videos to upload from 2022.. should be releasing those soon too. Glad it's been helpful!

Love the Rocky mountain Instinct! Wanted one so bad but didn't want to wait so got a YT Jeffsy instead. Really cool you get 2 bikes in one with it sharing a frame with the Altitude.

Also do you still have the Santa Cruz? Don't think I've missed a video but just curious 😅

Yea the Instinct is a really unique bike in that the frame is the same as the altitude! Love that idea really!
Nope just have had many things going on in life and I’m probably 6-7 videos behind what I would have liked to put out.. just gotta keep moving forward and do the best I can with the time I’ve got to edit and keep fun vids coming 🤘🏼⛰🚐💨🚴🏼‍♂️🏜🤘🏼

question for those pedally sections, do you stand up and get on the pedals pretty much the whole time? i was at that race as well, and found myself popping the seatpost up and sitting down to pedal a couple times but i'm not sure that was a good idea (even though my legs were screaming)

      Haha, I feel ya!
There was much pain management going on out there.☝🏼 Lots of both.. seated pedaling to spare my body weight some, and upright pedaling just to get through some things without feeling bucked by the seat being up.. lots of up and down seat post action for sure.
Looking ahead and just focusing on half mile an hour increments help me dramatically when I’m gassed.. rather then trying to make yo so much extra power and effort
