This is by far the best course preview video on China peak! Nice work and thanks for the high quality content. I’ll definitely analyze this vid going into next year.
Thanks Jeff 🙌🏻 Much Respect, I am stoked I got to see the place for the first time and bring my GoPro for the journey! Since I’ve edited this vid I’ve probably watched it over and over almost a hundred times trying to cut everything up & I’ve noticed so many more lines and options that I missed in my two days of practice and race excitement! It’s amazing how many options are really out there & I’ll be stoked to come back and see if I can improve on next year also! 🙏🏼😎
#1. Go pro lies... that track is so much steeper and dangerouus than it the camera showed. #2, it reminded me so much of Glorieta, NM Jagged Axe trail or Chili Dog, #3, great run Jay, that track is pretty much DH course and you did fantasteeq!
Thanks man! Definitely enjoyed trying to give it my all & also conserve as much energy as I could to be able to handle the last 2 stages.. those were trying for sure after being tired from so much riding 🥱
Thanks a Millionator Mr. Miltonator!! 🙌🏻😝 Definitely appreciate everyone’s support from the race even tho it didn’t go exactly to my hopes/expectations! More to improve on & hopefully I’ll do even better next time 😎
Wow!!! This is a terrific video of China Peak. Having ridden at Mammoth and Northstar for a long time, I agree China Peak is overall more Gnar. Maybe this is the next EWS site in Ca? Dude, great ridding and thanks for posting this vid. I've gotta get out and ride this!
Really enjoyed the video! congrats on getting up and finishing. tough terrain. its our backyard and ride their all summer long. rarely the black diamond stuff. I have to give a try this year. Does MTB Norcal sale the jerseys? I've look but couldn't find any. would be a great and easy way to raise some money. perhaps its for members only.
Awesome to hear thanks a bunch! I’m sure if you reach out to them on MTBNorCal.org or Instagram they may be able to help ya get one! Or I’m sure they will have another Jersey idea soon!
If it looked Gnar it must have been Gnar! 🥵 Thanks buddy, so much different in person then I could have imagined! Yesterday was the first day I rode since this race & I took out the road bike and punished myself a bit to really get ready for Shasta which is next.. not this weekend but next! 😎
Thanks. Our first stage (stage 3) was a lift.. followed by 9+ min of descending then we climbed about 1500ft to stage 1 & 2 descending another 8-10 min then climbed that same 1500ft back up for stage 5 & we got a lift to the last stage 4 All in all the day was about 7.5 hours of being out there & I was mainly just happy to be able to finish the race ☝🏼😎
@@bike_somm damn that’s a lot a riding! Trying to get more fit because I wanna start racing enduros, hopefully I’m fit enough by next season. You’re a big inspiration man!
@@vallejodroning9578 Well thank you. Stoked to hear I’m helping inspire others to reach for their own full potential 🙌🏻 What’s nice about Enduro is it’s you against the course and yourself! 😎
I’m about 5’11 3/4 tall & full 29 for me! Tires Maxxis Assegai 2.5 Exo+ or DD casing front is my preference all the time & in this race I tried a Maxxis DHF 2.5 Rear tire with DH casings and Max Grip Compound for extra grip and protection! Other favorite rear tire is the DHR2 2.4 WT DH casing rear tire Max Grip compound
Ohh yeah! It was odd going into turns and only giving the bike a quarter to half turn and having the whole bike steer the rest of the way through on its own! Lots of micro management to keep the bike in control out here ☝🏼😅
We rode the course today to see what you guys were doing, and stage 5 is SCARY!!! I walked it.
Man it was intimidating as heck! I’m sure you had fun if you looked at this trail haha 😎✌🏼
@@bike_somm I just rode stages 1-4 (stage 3 was my favorite). I'm old, stage 5 is for you guys.

Looked like a hellava course. Was fun watching you race it.
Man just the sounds of that vid sounded gnarly, glad you made it down safe
Haha yea bud! It was a wild place to race some gnarly terrain! Stoked I can say I made it through okay also! 🙌🏻
Always enjoy watching you go full speed man. Keep up the great content.

Thank you much!! 🤙🏼😎 Happy to share it all 💯
Awesome job, Jay! Mad respect for you. You’re riding hella fast man 💨🤘

Thanks a ton! Glad it came out well and people are digging it. Would be pretty good to see a EWS out there but who knows what the future holds 🙌🏻
Kinda looked like Northstar with all the loose berms and rocks gardens. Awesome job dude!
Absolutely… key words being “Kinda” lol it’s so much more gnar than most of Northstar in my opinion! 🤙🏼🤠

How long are the stages?
Depending on the race it’s always different.. this race the longest stage was over 9 min long
Nice riding man! Do you have to climb to any of the stages or is it always a lift?
Thanks. Our first stage (stage 3) was a lift.. followed by 9+ min of descending then we climbed about 1500ft to stage 1 & 2 descending another 8-10 min then climbed that same 1500ft back up for stage 5 & we got a lift to the last stage 4

Haha! Thanks 🤘🏼🏁🚴🏼♂️💨
Dats Somm western Sierra gnar!
Absolutely was🤙🏼 😝
What size wheel/tire do you run on a dry loose race day like this?
He's got a megatower it's a 29er f/r
@@kidklayko3555 Yup thanks 🤙🏼

Wow hahaha.... "Camera Roll, thats nice... Theyll have something for the eulogy"
Hahah.. yea as soon as I turned on my GoPro and got ready to drop into my first stage… he had to go and say something like that! 😬☠️😅
🤘💪🙌
1:25 camera rolling? "that's good, that way they got something good for the eulogy" 🤣🤦♂️
😅 Lol.. one of many silly comments throughout the day, but he meant well 🤙🏼
Can't believe how dusty and loose that terrain looked!

I can see why stage 5 was annoying damn chainsaw guy....
Haha! Indeed.. each time I thought about just going he revved up the chainsaw and that was a big nope!! Lol wasn’t prepared at all and I froze hard! 😬
