Peugeot 3008 SUV review: carbyr.uk/2dZmDoL
Watch our latest video: bit.ly/carbuyer...
The Peugeot 3008 is now a fully-fledged SUV, and a remarkably good one at that. It's styling is superb, and the interior is beautiful and practical. Its clever i-Cockpit dashboard is a 12.3-inch screen that displays your speed, navigation, phone and audio information. And a four-wheel drive-aping Grip Control system enhances traction when needed.

Goodness, a Peugeot I actually like. Who would have thought
Paul Hojda N
2WD SUV for a price of 4WD Mazda CX-5 ? I choose Mazda.
Indeed Peugeot has improved !!
French cars indeed have improved a lot, seems like they're back to their glory days as in the 80s.
Don't believe all the clichés which say that French engineering is bad, in fact the French are among the top in many reliability indexes.
It's crap I dare wouldn't step into one it's such a pussyboys car
I am beginning to change my mind of buying a Peugeot now after watching your review... I love watching your reviews in each car... The one of the best reviews when it comes to get complete knowledge of cars
well done Peugeot, the 3008 has just won European Car of the Year 2017! well deserved
psa really back in the game
It's amazing to see how James progressed as a car journalist in the last year or so. Very enjoyable review, professionally executed. Thank you!
I agree
Dmitry L I agree, I think he's great! :)
Dmitry L you are right, I also watch every his review.
Never have i ever thought of a peugeot as this desirable
Peugeot made a real master piece 😍
Peugeot have really reinvented themselves these past few yrs. Far better than german rivals and now far more reliable too. Who would have thought!
franch cars more reliable then german ones? I highly doubt that time will ever come. Theres a reason renaults and pegeuts lose so much of their value over the years
Babylonian the reason French cars lose so much of their value is because of reputation. French cars where bad from 1999 until 2006 for Renault and until 2010 for Peugeot Citroen, no real quality issues since unlike VW cars
Babylonian Already been proven. Peugeot came above every German manufacturer for reliability and customer satisfaction. Peugeot have been improving whilst Germans have massively declined in recent years. Its not an opinion either, it is objectively a indisputable fact.
For the extra money you get a lot more performance, more sophisticated drive train and technological advancements. The quality of materials used is also greater. In the same sense Heinz beans taste nicer than ASDA smart price beans. You cannot compare the two, they are engineered and sold for a different demographic. Anything that is more complicated and performs at a much higher level will naturally become less reliable. You cannot compare the two cars. In terms of performance and price range, they are directly competing with the Japanese and Korean manufacturers and they are not even close to building cars to their quality.
NickLiang Your comparison is ridiculous. There is no correlation between Heinz and asda smart price, and say Peugeot and VW who are on the same level. Lexus are clearly more upmarket than Peugeot, but VW? C'mon.
The fact remains that Peugeot are making very reliable, stylish cars with a more upmarket feeling interior than rivals in the same segment. The scratchy plastics of VW, SEAT, Ford, Vauxhall et al just seem cheap, nasty and poorly built by comparison.
I wonder why people are so butt hurt over Peugeot's obvious come back?
I didn't like your first reviews James but you are doing a really good job now.
lol if a british loves a peugeot french car ... it means that this car is the best of the world nowadays : ))))
stephen10 thank you Stephen 👊👍💪 and I LOVE UK London land rover jaguar fish&chips. Renault peugeot Citroën in the best car in France
Waited for this video since September, good job carbuyer ! P3008 is amazing
Easily the best car in the class
Such a cute guy
well done Peugeot and their entire range the past 4 years are far more reliable and economical than any of its overrated and costly German rivals!
Ross Donovan No Germans would ever alienate customers by blocking the speedo with the steering wheel.
K_Q_ J_H No they didn't. Still can't see a thing in a 208 or 308. And when you resort to calling people names that just shows your lack of being able to construct anything intelligent.
pipsicle if your not able to adjust the steering wheel and seat to suit yourself, then you should not be allowed drive a car.
it seems the most pointless and only argument Ive heard from the media, mainly cos their nit picking on a car thats won European car of the year whilst not having a German badge! the 308 also will be more reliable and has a world record for fuel efficiency in its class as does the 208. these are reasons why the 308 was top of the class in last years driver power survey too, not the golf, a3 or focus. I personally think its the best looking car in its class as well 3 years after its launch with probably the seat Leon in second. Cars like the focus are totally dated looking now.
I'm not the media. I can't see the dials in the 208 or 308 unless I put the steering wheel so low down that it's jammed on my legs. Awful design. My friend is much shorter and has the same problem. VAG would never sell cars with such huge flaws. If I was ever given one as a hire car I'd have to refuse to use it as I couldn't tell what speed I was doing. Shame, as I like Peugeot's but they sell 2 models that I couldn't own. In this day and age they shouldn't be alienating any customers!
pipsicle to be honest my wife can easily see the dials by adjusting both the seat and steering wheel and Ive no problem either. I seriously cant see how anyone could not do that and be able to see the dials and without having steering wheel jammed into your legs unless the seat back is pushed horizontal into the rear seats, that your driving the car lying down.
And if thats suppose to be a major design flaw then they're after a doing great job on the car altogether. what I consider a major design flaw or decision is installing software to cheat emissions testing and then introducing a cheap fix that affects the performance of the engine and the value of the car, ala VW.
I’ve rent one for 2 weeks in Corsica. It’s a GRRREEAAT car. It does extremely well on the little bumpy and curvy roads of Corsica. Did a bit of off road driving to get to some secretive well-hidden beaches and the lack of 4WD was not a problem at all. Compare to 3008 my every day Tiguan is dull and boring.
beautiful design but the sunroof seems to start quite in the back, do front passengers even feel it, if is open?
after 9 years of owning a peugeot i decided last month to move on and get something else as peugeot were not progressing, look at them now loln awsome car
They're back at making great cars since the 208. Peugeut and Ford are my favorites (the ones i can afford - doesn't count BMW and MB).
The car really has a very nice design. Peugeot is a very successful brand in car designs.Especially the orange color suits this car very well.
This is THE car. If you had any sense, you'd pick it over the overpriced German heavyweights, if obviously, you couldn't afford them
K_Q_ J_H it's excellent
For the extra money you get a lot more performance, more sophisticated drive train and technological advancements. The quality of materials used is also greater. In the same sense Heinz beans taste nicer than ASDA smart price beans. You cannot compare the two, they are engineered and sold for a different demographic.
NickLiang I get what you're trying to say. If you can afford the Heinz, go for it. But if you wanted to, you could get two cans of Asda beans for the same price, making it better value for money, meaning you'd compromise the quality, or would you...? Either way, it's the way you look at it and personally, I'd pick the 2008 and that would be if I couldn't afford an X3, or GLC, or Q3...
K_Q_ J_H So get the 2008. That's what I'd do if I were you
K_Q_ J_H I know! And I know you like both of them but what would YOU pick? If it was between the A4 and this, then I'd pick the 3008. I generally like SUVs and this is a perfect package
love your video.... i loved the slow mo trick at 06:24 you should do more of these tricks in your next videos... keep up
I love this car ! The french did a good job 👏🏽
I see that Car wow and Car buyer are sharing filming locations
Test drove one today, 1.2 PureTech turbo petrol. Was amazed by the pull and that was with 3 people in the car. I'll be ordering one in May. My only worry is the reports from some owners of the infotainment screen giving issues, being non responsive etc, can any current owners attest to that? Also what KM return are you getting on a single tank with the 1.2 model. I'd imagine 400 to 450km being very much acceptable.
this car is too damn beautiful to be driven
It's a Peugeot, soon enough you won't be able to drive it anyway
dave kahn haha that is probably true. My dad owns a 2013 Peugeot 508. It has already had numerous problems including its timing belt and engine mounting. I hope they are stepping up their game lol
Ethan Wong I think that was probably an exception rather than the norm, as I also have a 4 year old 508 and have never had one single issue with it. Nothing whatsoever. The 508 also topped German TUV used car index for best in class reliability ahead of the Honda Accord. The VW passat came last.
Just ordered one they are good!
John McHale price ?
I test drove a BMW series 2 active tourer because I wanted a badge and boy was it dull ! I have since test driven the Peugeot 3008 and loved it ! and have ordered one should be here middle of March can't wait
joseph sitti glad to hear so many people now prefer French cars over German cars
Stunning car nicer than any other SUV. After my experience with my 308 would defiantly recommend to anyone. There great cars. Built very well!
wow very well engineered, impressive
Ordered the GT LINE 1.6 BLUE HDi Pick it up towards end of March.
Just bought one, no regrets. Buy it you one and you will love it.
How's the reliability? Any over costs on the service?
This is really sharp lookin'🇫🇷
Wow the production value of the video just went up! Great job! I'm curious if Peugeot will fit a hybrid drivetrain to the 3008 down the road. Rumor has it that the new 2008 will offer a hybrid drivetrain. Rumor also has it that it will used compressed air instead of a battery, but I will believe it when I see it.
My wife did the test so I can only really comment the passenger experience.
The interior finish is very slick and modern compared to it's rivals. The digital dashboard is stunning and the model I tried had a mock carbon fibre like trim. The very small flat bottomed steering will be distinctly Marmite.
Great suv! I test drove a 1.2 petrol, 6 speed manual. The infotainment system is sluggish and not the greatest, the gear box was really light and plastic feeling and another thing was the pedals were quite close together but other then those faults there, it’s a great suv!
Did you find you were pressing 2 peddles together with them being close together?…I found this a problem when test driving the 2008 a few years ago, must be a French thing. However, I love the new design of the 3008 & I want to test drive it.
just beautiful!!
Put my order in for the GT Line model. Beautiful car. Inside and out.
I would consider this Peugeot and new Toyota CHR..if you dont need an awd.
I’m receiving this as a company car, thanks. Great review!
Great car it seems but how reliable is it and do repairs cost a fortune?? Is the car over computerized and are repairs only possible at Peugeot dealers??
Great review of one of my favourite SUV. Thanks!
Good review dude.
I've got one 2017 and satisfying.
its looks like complete package..!
Deval Upadhyay almost. 4x4 is missin.
Excellent review and I'm quite impressed by this car!
Interior is really impressive, as I’ve been looking at Hyundai, Toyota, And Honda....and the Peugeot seems better designed for Western UXD wants...only issue I see is that it lacks 4x4 as at times you want the car to handle dirt based roads...
Nice review enjoyed it
Stunning 😍
probably the first Peugeot I've seen I like
Well I've ordered mine today 😊 the GT version. So looking forward to when it arrives in March 😊
Paul Bryan hey man, did you get your 3008? Just wondering how you've been finding it the last few months? I'm ordering mine in May 2018 so I'm just curious.
nice review James.....other brands need to Up there game now.
They have not moved the twin drinks holder in the centre console so when drinks are in place they get in the way in the driver trying to changing gears also the glass sun roof internal cover was better in the older car. Now its very thin mesh i don't think that will help with heating the car in the winter.
how about the glovebox? is it still tiny? he didn't mention it.
I wonder why PSA don't move the fuse box over to the driver's side for right-hand-drive cars?
Bro i am confused between 3008 and qashkai. Which one is the best in all terms.
Is the new trend for cars to have really high gear stick positions? Got a new ford Focus and I find it quite high. You get used to eventually but it's still not as comfy as my previous car.
My mom is trying to buy the old one....... I HATED THAT CAR. But i love this new one. Aaagghhhh
Great analysis! I wish I could buy a car like this here in Brazil with the prices you have in Europe! =/
I wish I could bought this car in Portugal whit the prices of other European countries...
Hey Carbuyer, how the fudge do you obscure the dials of the 208 with your positioning? Are you 5ft2? I am 6ft0 and I get a clear perfect view of the dash in my 15' 208...
James Batchelor Can't understand it. I drive left as I'm in Europe out of UK, but I guess that doesn't make any difference. The glove box in mine is indeed way bigger than yours due to the fuse thing. The dials I can't picture it. I can even photograph and send it to you so that you can see it.
João Paixão I'm 6'1 and can't see the dials in the 208 or 308. Complete fail on Peugeots part to alienate any customers. Will have to check this car out and see if it's any better.
wait you are that high? and can't see it? I can't imagine your driving position its impossible to believe now, your credibility is lost whit that information...
My favorite was CX-5. But now... I doubt!
Excellent review, I'm looking at buying this car and he answered everything about it and then some. Very knowledgeable.
I think this would have a chance here in the states considering how popular small SUVs are; this seems a nice one. Would have to be automatic though, and only the gas 1.6.
Who the fuck in their right mind would pick a gutless petrol over a powerful diesel? Diesels are superior in EVERY SINGLE WAY in normal, non-sports cars. They even sound nicer than 4 cyl petrol engines.
derbigpr500 yes definitely those 1.4tsi engines vw make and those 1.2 purtech engine peugeot make sounds absolutely shit. Although the PSA 1.6 and 2.0 BlueHDi's sound beautiful.
Never ever had the problem with the small steering wheel , so it’s not “Bad” news at all !!!!
Nice review showing how the 3008's drive, style, cockpit can more than easily compete with other somewhat overpriced popular models. Now, let's check my first finances!...
@0:53 I feel the enthusiasm, great review mate.
Vraiment hâte d'aller essayer ce nouveau SUV 3008 ! Je vais réserver un test drive chez mon concessionnaire à Alesia !
Hi sherukka, actually you are probably right because it does look lovely inside.
Why is this new 3008 only available with front wheel drive?
there is a Grip Control for sand, snow, mud and in 2019 there will be a 4X4 hybrid plug-in with 300 Horse Power.
The hybrid version will be available first on the DS7 (Geneva 2017) and on the 3008 after ;)
well you can chose awd or flat floor for your feet in the middle seat on the back, also the cost is much higher and Peugeot wold need to develop the thing, also forget the small weight of this car if it was awd...
Personally I don't think some people will need four wheel drive anyway...
Because it is a crossover. You also have grip control system for multiple situations such as sand or getting out of snow. If you plan to go offroad, maybe a jeep would fit better your choice?
have orderd mine get it some time in march 3008 gt model
i had a Citroën C4 coupe and it had air vent perfume( 7 dif levels ) and GSM port in navidrive system...back in 2006 it should be pretty cool, actually Maseratti Grand Turismo used the same navigation/radio unit(RT3 model).
I was really interested in this car until he mentioned the high bite point of the clutch, it really puts me off buying a Peugeot but I suppose that's more a personal issue. Might still see about a test drive as this looks like a cracking buy.
What if you have an accident and that detail on light the breaks off?
Hi James! In December I ordered a 3008 1.6 BlueHDi EAT6 but now I can change (only 450€) the order in favor of the new 1.5 BlueHDi EAT8...
Could you please give me an advice?
did I just watch an advert?
Too bad these are not sold in North America... would love to have one.
Why didn't they bring this out earlier, already bought the kadjar now.
Fantastic review James, thanks.
Which engine was shown in this demonstration?
What about the offset steering wheel
Why I do think that it manufactured on the same platform as Range Rover Evoque?
i wish i could buy it. but here its cost 180k which is almost 38k £.. its insane right.
murad dawod if it had a Mercedez logo in the front you would find it cheap. This car is insanely good for the price. You get shit like this from a basic version Audi for 70k€. Peugeot asks 40k€ for a GT Line and you say its expensive lol.
Just went for a test drive the other day because I loved the looks of the 3008. I was blown away ... Really good car!!
One thing I want to find out ... how good are the autoboxes and how well the new active cruise control works, because I won't be buying another car without them. Otherwise, this could be my next car ...
the autobox are good, typical torque converter made by a Japanese company called Aisin, they are "fast" for a torque converter and very smooth, its no dual clutch but will do the trick...
Thanks for the info! I think smoothness is always preferred to sportiness in a french car :)
Yooka: Well, that’s what we call...
Laylee: ...An actual Peugeot SUV...
Yooka and Laylee: ...That throws the SUV rulebook out of the window.
Playtonic: Although Peugeots "suffer rather steep depreciation".
#respectVW #YookaLaylee
still its a french car. money maker for the mechanics. but true, nice looking car.
By local statistic though, mercedes' spend more time in maintenance than french cars. (post 2000)
p5ychonaut in my country Peugeot just use 1.6 THP for this car (made with BMW partner)
yes but who buys mercedes, this peugeot is more expensive than rav4 or new hybrid ch-r, you want toyota or french car ? I choose japan
MrZiemwit
Well besides the Toyota C-HR being nearly as ugly as the 2016 prius, over here the C-HR is 4000€ more expensive than the respective 3008, and the RAV4 is outdated and the same price anyway. The only positive to that is the fact that the toyota has better resale value.
french cars = which do you mean, you can't put them on the same page (Renault/PSA)? PSA = best real quality of all european cars nowadays (VW easily worst).
Why would one get a crossover if it is without awd? Seems to be missing the point
not really sometimes you go to bad roads but you don't really need AWD just a high car, also is better for people whit bad back is easier to enter, I would like this car I really don't drive in mountain road that often but the seating position the space and the comfort of a long suspension on travel.
and have in consideration that a AWD car had a lot of complexity to the system, more fuel consumption and more parts to maintain for little performance gain specially when you have a electronic grip control like Peugeot made, used it once in a 2008 test course and it worked like a champ...
in 2019 there will be a peugeot 3008 4X4 plug-in hybrid.
Blake Swan doesn't look too bad, vision out the back not brilliant ....I'll stick with my Forester for now
People are moving back to petrol and I'm not convinced 1.2 turbo is enough. Its 10.8 seconds 0-60 is 2 seconds off its rivals which have a 1.4/5T. Add family in and it's not going to be enough.
Peugeot do seem to have improved on reliability although this model has not been out that long
Try that 1.2, you'll love it. 130hp doesn't tell the whole story. It delivers torque like a 150hp diesel.
very informative review indeed.
that front camera off-centered looks very odd
Amazing. I want it!
I'm dying to see the review of the new Renault Koleos for some french comparison
Should I get X1 or 3008
saw one the other night and the brake lights are that thin ..you can hardly see them
Missing 4WD option is a big fail. Otherwise a very interesting crossover/SUV, though I generally don't like these.
Great car !! BRAVO PEUGEOT !
Ay least it looks like 10 years or more ahead of Jeep Compass in style and maybe practicality... Thing is will it keep itself in order, speciaslly the 1,2 puretech had some intake valve carbon buildup. That is a costly thing to handle. Anyhow, a real automatic with a proper torque converter is a big plus! And, the larger 2,0 liter diesels seem to have rather good reputation.
Bought one 5 weeks ago. Allez les Bleus.
5.23 seat didn't quite fold down on it's own - needed a push!
Peugeot used to make attractive cars in the late 90's early 2000's like the 306 and 406. Then they went pig ugly through the mid 2000's to fairly recently, starting to make better looking cars again. But can they take a mileage without needing wheel bearings or a driveshaft after 60 to 80k. Some French cars just do not like high milage without needing half the suspension needing replaced, if they were more robust I would buy one. They always seem to have OK engines and gearboxes but its everything else???
Lion is Back .
Pls make a review for bmw m2
How the h--k are you sitting when you drive?? Looks like you got the seat leaning forward. Must be some very local British custom
That Mustang rear is kinda good and bad at the same time :/
Ad Peugeot rear*
