so glad you used the theme to the A-TEAM during the intro construction period. I have been following your channel to get insights into "mining" so I can duplicate your work.
Awesome! Thank you!
I love it , when a plan comes together!!
Au Team .... Oh Yeah
You are actually making a mine shaft. wow. Your amazing.....
yep and thanks you.
thank you for all you do I have been a faithful follower for years and claimed and started on my lode mine in Arizona. and I study your videos over and over and due to your teachings I confidently worked it the last year and were on the gold.Really hope to meet you in person one day..you rock.
you betcha...really appreciate that ....that is fantastic and we always love to hear that. Keep us posted Darren and stay on the Shiney.
I’m a new fan. It’s nice to see safety in mind. I worked at the power company here for 38 years and heard of a lot of cave ins that took lives. Good job! Pat
Jeff Williams is completely BOONKERS - we sure do love him - he's the go to guy in mining for that YELLER STUF
thats me.
Nice job Jeff, structure Joinery is super important. Theres a reason the old timers used laps, dovetails, & mortice/tenons.
exactly and they were very good at it.
Another reason was labour and even skilled labour was comparatively cheaper than fasteners and other hardware.
Nice work Jeff.....SO C'MON!
thanks.
Love the background music in the opening.
Love this vid series, cheers Jeff
thanks.
Hi JEFF..
You truly are a professional..
So come on let’s go Digging..
Cheers Famo59.👍🍺⛏
thanks , really appreciate that.
Information absorbed.
Thanks Jeffrey!
you betcha.
Valued information, thank you. Cant wait to see it go into its new home!
Well shiver me timbers! That's a lot of wood!
yes it was.
standard 2 by's like that are actually 1.5" by 2.5" but who's measuring lol. I can't wait for part three. Thank you also for having Nevada Jack on once again like you did. also thank you for having Slim on in part one of this. my daughter who is one now has loved Slim as much as I do since she was only a few hours old. Thank you Jeff for your hard work to bring us these great videos
Good work Jeff I can't wait to see it put in the ground :)
me too.
I was just curious those caves do they open up get bigger and any good gems coming out of the hole other than nuggets? Any saphalite or zircon diamonds anything cool?
yes they get bigger but noises are coming from them......no gems yet just fossils
Ok jeff if what your saying is not a joke noises? Maybe you have heard of a guy buy the name of Red Foghorn? If not you should watch his videos on utube its creepy stuff but may be some truth to it and word to the wise be careful in caves you might just make a major biological discovery it might be hostile brother be safe :)
Oh wow Jeff I just got home from my Mine and to find another highly informative video waiting for me in the in box how GREAT is that ...... I have nothing but hard rock right now but there is plenty of hard clay further in I am told that is harder to deal with then the rock yep atleast a rock will break with a couple of blows from a sludge hammer ...... Great vid keep um a coming !!!!!
So C'mon..... Let's ....Go !!!!!
Hi Mike......yes clay can be a lot of fun as it is always moving and the compression of it is different then hard rock......you will have fun removing it.
Love the music at the start of assembling the unit.
Thanks for the video
you becha
Part 5, if you’re goooodd!!! Another awesome video!!
Omg A Team Love it You are going to be a legend for ever Ty so much for awsome vids. You make it so fun and easy to follow.
you betcha.
Awesome video Jeff! Can't wait for part 3!
me too. Lol
That looks nice and solid. Great work. Lots more to mining than digging a hole into the ground. See ya next time!
Jeff, Another outstanding how-to video. You whipped that set out in record time! Part III ought to be real interesting to see how you place that collar-set in a shaft. See you found threaded rods for the hanging bolts - clever - Home Depot?. Take care my busy friend. Say hi to Silver Spurs Lila, Pops, Nevada Jack, and of course old cantankerous Slim.
Hi Steve and Cecilia, thanks ...had a few extra minutes so me and Slim decided to whip this set out to get it ready for part 3. We left out a few things but figured we would cover that in the next vid......All thread works great for hanging bolts and you can find it cheaper but we got our from Home depot. ...now the big question....where is this monker going ..you will have to wait and see.....see you soon my friend ( very soon )
SUPER!!!!
Awww, cute kitties. “That’s a lot of lagging, son” 😹😹
yes it is.
Come on Lets go!
Good stuff thanks for the tips as always jeff
Love it
THE A TEAM INTRO
Impressed on the use of music.
Lots and lots of credits there Mr. Jeff. Almost looks like the Phoenix, AZ White Pages, just not alphabetized. LOL Good Vid!!
A-team mad dog.
Hey Jeff, brill video again, a wanna build one for my back garden 😂😂👍👍 so c'mon lets gooo 👊👊👌😂😂
Nice work lets . go...
Jeff,
Brother..... What the hell? I thought you were a geologist and gold miner. What is ALL that antifreeze, engine oil and maybe canisters of R-134a doing in your mining shop? I am talking zillions of gallons, jugs, and canisters! Brother... Hope Scott Pruitt and the EPA don't watch this video. How many county ordinances, permits, approvals you skirting? HA! I am a prepper too, but you take the cake on auto maintenance of future bug out vehicles or gold mining equipment! I do all my own Mx too. You are a true Renaissance Man! Randy C-17A :)
Yes I am but also ASR certified Master.....got to be ready for the Zombie apocalypse .....gotta have a skill if you want them to keep you alive and not eat you up... huh...Lol Thanks Randy ...
THE A TEAM...!!!....I PITY THE FOOL...haha
That’s a lot of people donating 10.00 a month or more it’s enough for a full on operation!
Hi sir, I was wondering why you do not use screws instead of nails? My old wooden chair came apart using nails. Had to use a screw to get it on tight again. I just thought in time the nails may come out. Best. I learned so much off you. Thank you for knowing science.
we use screws now
@@Askjeffwilliams be safe, I know it's dangerous. You have my support.
@@Askjeffwilliams Just to note and depending on the use, nails have a better shear strength, compared to brittle screws.
Have you ever thought about using corrugated metal pipe that you can bolt together sections? Something like they use for over casts under ground.
yep but very expensive
Way Cool Jeff. Do you do Garages? just kidding I'm Waiting SO COME ON LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS . That did fit together very nice WELL DONE SON!!
thanks and we thought so too.
Very nice but placer gold for me. No way I would go that far and tight into ground. Lol knowledge is always a GOOD thing. Thanks Jeff. Pan on all
it was super cool for me to see my name and help keep the DREAM ALIVE. So do you know what I'm gonna say. WEll do ya . Come on lets go. ( gold mining,, fishing , hunting, Play in the desert.)
Hi Brian, thank you so much for your support ....yes we know what you are gonna say my friend.....
I just saw a young jeff williams on ancient aliens on the history channel. Lmao. To cool dude. To cool.
That's me or........my clone baby.
Steel ibeams and weld or old railroad/mine tracks and thermite
your hired!!!! ,LTL CONSTRUCTION. NF, NY. nobody around here knows what the hell they doing lol
Thanks.
Ask Jeff Williams any time
Great background music! Get er Shafted!
nice looking collar son thumbs up
thanks.
I would suspect galvanized nails would be more appropriate. Here in the PNW I think treated wood and the ceramic coated screws would work better also. (Rain, Jeff- You DO remember rain, don't 'cha?).
Kick Ass!!!
great show jeff got to give you another 500% on this one to...
thats great we will have to do it again my friend.
Another get video!!! Doing it in a private mine would it be more cost, material and weight efficient to use steel?
Hey Jeff and Slim... nice build! let me know if you need any help I'm good at picking up big things
Thanks
Hi, Boss.
I found some small pieces of gold and some smaller pieces that were "as heavy" as the gold. And I've studied a UA-camr, Prospector Jess's video about Platinum. Do you think it might be right for me to suppose to have found Platinum in Norway?
I did not do any "snuffel up" of the bits, because I thought it was lead .... :(
But I know the place very well and are allowed to do more panning in that creek.
"So come on, let's go"!
Nice job Jeff! BTW - where's slim when the work needs to get done?
napping.
Have you thought about a ledger for the lagging? A piece of 2x2 or 1x1 for the lagging to rest on. That would stop it from falling down before the next set is ready. Or is this not a problem in an actual shaft?
very good Stuart....you are right ..that is what they used
Hi Jeff and slim and Nevada jack, I have question, I found some quartz, with iron in it, but I do not have a rock crusher, looks like their might be some copper, iron in it, what’s a good way “primitive” to test it? Thanks for the videos my wife thinks I’m crazy, stay on the shiny, UA all the way
Your a man of many talents Jeff , Carpenter , Musician ,Mechanic , Prospector ,etc , lol, very interesting series , thanks for your efforts , much appreciated , ohh and didn't Adolf Hitler have one of those ---------------------- you know, Mein Shaft , sorry I couldn't help my self ha ha .
Thanks....whaaah whaaaaaaaah Lol.
Is there a building code you must adhere to when shoring up a mine or can you just use your own judgment?
yes ...it must be MSHA approved.
Remember a oldtimer named Buco
yes
Hi Jeff, how is the drift mine going? Those are very interesting, happy hunting.
we are mining when we can .
Can I claim a area in San Gabriel river, mountains in that video you found gold on? Or since there’s to many people there it shouldn’t be done there?
check your land status
Instead of using all the heavy wood for lagging, could you use some type of metal fencing?
nope.
I tried to ask a question the first time you uploaded the video, but it said you took the video down lol. What size is the all-thread and where did you get it from? It looks bigger than 1/2”-13.
that is 1/2 inch and we got it from Lowes...used a 5/8 drill bit
Jeff, great practical video followup to the previous theoretical video. It really shows the amount of materials and effort to create just one set. We always marvel at the amount of work it took to build the old mines, especially those with a lot of square sets, hoist rooms, and shafts. The Delamar gold mine is one of the best examples. www.mine-explorer.com/Delamar/delamar1.htm
Hi Joanne, thanks and yes it does ...can you imaging the amount of lumber and men it took to put those square sets in the Delamar mine.....I still watch those old vid of the stopes that have all the collapsed square sets and think...wow. I have to agree very impressive.
Why such a small work area with the framing? Can you bring it already assembled and drop it in the ground?
easier to build it on site.
What is the typical gauge and weight of rails in historic mines?
baby gauge .
Good Lord. The cost nowadays must be prohibitive.
Hey Jeff, would it take less material and work if you used some sort of metal instead of lumber?
more expensive
@@Askjeffwilliams Aww come on. Go bankrupt for our entertainment.
😀🖒
Whats up jeff....i spoke to you on a email about abyear ago. I still havent started mining my property yet but yes the us gs reports that the area does have Au ...i have a question..have you heard of that gold rush nugget bucket...what are your thoughts on that?
Hi Anthony.....yes we have and seen demo's on it.....we have not used one yet so can't say.
Any dimension or cut sheets out there for this?
not yet
How big is the ready bolt stock are you using? It looks like 1/2" or 5/8".
1/2 inch from Lowes.
Ask Jeff Williams, is the second all thread hole for the next, lower section?
That aint you Jeff, it must be a stunt carpenter........
Too late, I took my pants off when you started calling me "Sunny Jim"
you're losing your mind son. Well done! :)
pretty much....
It's just too perfect ,just don't stain it.
anyone have a general cost for parts per 3' of shaft?
yes we do ...that set cost $ 300.00
Ask Jeff Williams that’s a Lotta cheddar!
What song is that over the end credits?
thats ....Slim and the Bone heads . Lol
@@Askjeffwilliams I am not familiar with this, do you have a link to it or a title?
Thank you. BTW you got some guts going down in some of those mines. Good stuff.
How much did it cost to go 3 feet? Im estimating that's like 2 yards of dirt, so unless you are getting almost an ounce of gold out of that shaft its going to be really hard to get very deep.
$ 300.00 dollars but actually 4 feet . the next set should be a little cheaper.
Ask Jeff Williams dude I got gold out of crushed rock today!!! Gold Fever!!!
Do you sell automotive supplies? Or are all those fluids saved up for your own machinery?
My wild guess is for his "day job", Jeff is an ASE certified mechanic and works in his own automotive shop doing repairs for others.
Bingo.
Treat the wood it will last forever 😋
yeah we need to do that.
how do you dig in something that small
yo will have to wait and see.
do you have a cut list ?
yes
@@Askjeffwilliams omg yer gonna make me beg lol share / post it to video comments please!!
only 3 feet fuck me dead xD
You should sell paydirt from your super secret mine
we actually give it away...
Ask Jeff Williams I knew you gave away gold but I didn't know about paydirt but cool
Do you even need that slating/lagging?
yep and you will see why.
AUUUUUU
Ya need to find a lot of gold dust to pay fo all that lumber .Unless you used slim credit card .
Won't pine just rot?
Stuart Chignell . Depending on the location of the mine and drainage.
Pine timbers last quite a while. One of my hard rock mines in Idaho Springs Colorado was dug in 1905, I have some beautiful timbers running almost 1300 ' back.
Hmmm. Interesting. Makes sense though. Dry mine and it doesn't rot.
Do you try and leave air gaps so if it does get wet it can dry? Pack large rocks behind the lagging?
If you are in a wet environment, you could use pressure treated lumber. Collars and shaft timbering is usually Douglas Fir, which is very resistant to rot and insect damage.
Thats Douglas Fir, not pine. I asked Jeff about this in the previous video. Fir is also a softwood but its much less prone to warping and twisting, its also much stronger than pine.
At 3:37 you can see the mill tag/species
Hi
Howdy
Ask Jeff Williams ha ha nice😆
WOW, Amazing...Is there anyhing you cant do?...You wear a lot of different Hats, sonny Jim...

Was that you on ancient aliens?!!!
yep that was me or......my clone Baby.
it sure doesn't look like Home cheapo lumber
Who's Son of Jim anyway huh?....lol
How come you don't notch them joints?? And let's face it nails??? and not 3 1/2" wood screws??? Come on LET'S GO !
we wanted to show the easiest way possible but yes lap joints would be better.
