I’ve got this exact unit & apparently after watching this video it’s definitely broken ( reading high & stays high after power off ) Thanks for the video 👍
Thanks for the sharing! The pessure gauge isnt working at my sand filter. When I unscrewed it off, there was non-stop water flowing out from it. Did I miss anything?
Mark, first I want to thank you so much. Spending my whole vacation week on my inground pool problems….🙄( leaks to find, etc), decided to change the pressure gage, and….overthight, tiny crack in the housing, tried silicone it, no good, anything else you suggest as a patchy job? Beside changing the whole housing on my Hayward filter? Thanks in advance from Montreal, Canada
If the multiport housing is cracked then you need to replace the multiport. The valve is under pressure and patching it is temporary at best, and usually does not work. Thanks for watching.
Hi Mark nice video. If I wanted to clean the glass visual piece next to the gauge, does that just unscrew? I have same multiport as in your video or close to it.
So, do we need to move the lever to CLOSE before removing the old one or will this not get water and/or pressure as long as the pump/filter is off? Thanks for sharing!!
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies I will say, there's no mention that water will leak/pour out of the port between changes. I hope this is fine and I didn't ruin anything. The water valve was shut off and the head was moved to CLOSED - still had water pouring out.
The pressure gauge can be installed on the side of the multiport. On some filter systems the gauge can be installed on the filter tank itself. Thanks for watching.

My Hayward multi port gauge opening is leaking due to treads being ruined on the multi port no matter how much tape I put on it it will still leak and suggestions.
If the multi port is cracked or the threads are stripped the best way to repair is to replace your valve. Sometimes sealants can be used but this is a temporary fix.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies do you have any idea what size pressure gauge is on the intex 16" sandfilter? Iv already bought two that are too big! I measured the one that came with the intex but i measured across the bottom that screws in, and it was about 3/8. But then i read . You are supposed to measure the inside diameter of the female npt, but i still am unsure as now iv overloaded on npt mnpt fnpt 😵
You have to be careful and try to tap out the broke piece. You should be able to remove with a flat head screwdriver and/or a pair of needle nose pliers.
If this is a new gauge then make Teflon tape was wrapped around the threads or it’s possible you may over tighten the gauge. Check for any cracks in the valve body.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies ok thanks, I didn’t touch it once I took the wrapping off. It was nit leaking initially. The pump was off then when I returned from work to turn it on then I noticed it. I wish I can send you a video of it lol.

Love your simple clear explanation. Thank-you
Once again great informative video. I find myself watching your videos even when my above ground pool is working perfectly fine.
Best pool videos on UA-cam!
easy to understand very clear and precise instructions thank you

I have the multi port xl. What should the pressure be when running and when should i backwash?

Yes it just unscrews out.

You didn’t ruin anything, this can happen and you will be fine.
Thanks 👍
Merci!
Love your channel but you should never tighten the gauge by the face use the brass flats so you don’t rack the gauge
my new cartridge filter came with a broken gauge, can i still start up my pool, new gauge be here tomorrow

Hi, where I install a pressure gauge in my multiport hayward SPO715G50M? it came with no pressure gauge?

so you don't need to release the pressure valve on the filter first, before unscrewing the old pressure gauge?
That is correct, if you want to you can but it is not necessary.

my gauge broke off this afternoon so that sleeve is still inside the pump. how do i remove this?

Mine stays at 0 when motor is running. Is there anything special in replacing it or soes it need to be replaced?
The gauge should only be on 0 when the system is off. I would recommend to replace it.
What happens if the gauge gets broken inside the Hayward ?

do i need the gauge or can i just plug the hole?
The pressure gauge will let you know when to backwash. If you go by visual reference then you can plug it, but a gauge is best.

How do I remove the old one? It is beyond hand tight.
Have you tried pliers or give me a call and I’ll be glad to discuss other ways over the phone.
Use the Pink stuff polish. I had mine crystal clear in under 2 minutes and mine was in worse shape than this one.
