Even though Vince Russo is a big fan of Uncle Howdy the character, he is really amused at the thought of said character becoming the WWE Champion. In this edition of Writing with Russo, he talks about how little heat there is in a Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor match. He is also sick of the WWE Universe singing Seth Rollins' theme song, he tells Dr. Chris Featherstone, who offers his own explanation using the 'what' chant. Could Gunther turn babyface on the road to SummerSlam 2024?

I wouldnt say WWE is just phoning it in... We survived Vince and Brock vs Babyface Roman like a hundred times... I was an AEW guy and WWE was so good it drew me back, havent watched WWE since Punk left.

Genuinely curious if Vince was writing for taker and if so did he think that was hokey when it first started? Its been two weeks man gotta at least give them time before crappin on it
May have written some of the ministry stuff. Kane vs Undertaker story during that time was Pritchard's idea and the Hell in a Cell was Cornettes because he basically took the idea from how Lawler had his cage matches in Memphis with the cage around the ring. But whatever Russo did write usually went through Vince first anyway.
He was writing for Taker and Kane for 2 years and wrote the best storylines of Taker's career.
It's not Russo's idea and he's not involved in it, so of course the old toxic bag of shit is gonna crap all over it, bro.

Vince’s comments prove my point to the WWE “Die on that Hill” marks that Triple H isn’t a wrestling genius (😂 I know know, I think that’s a stupid statement too) and secondly, WWE isn’t growing their audience. They’ve survived off name, money, not having a serious threat challenge them since WCW, and having the same 1.9-2.6 million people watching them for the past decade. They aren’t expanding the fanbase beyond marks. These little storylines that only marks are saying “Oh that’s so good, best we’ve seen in years” are only loved by the marks and quite frankly, WWE knows their loyalists cult will never walk away.
Exactly. Those millions that walked away(myself included) decades ago aren't coming back. I'm only here cuz I saw this horror gimmick On my timeline and thought it looked out of place in the horrible WWE kiddie verse and after watching the clip nothing I saw made me say "I gotta start watching WWE again". Glad McMahon is gone, but I'm not seeing anything that will win back the millions of casuals that left pro wrestling after the Monday night wars ended and Vince bought out all his competition

@@BIPOCShakur same here, grew up on WWF/WCW, then early into adulthood, ECW and the Monday night wars really made me into a hardcore fan, reading the sheets and everything.. but in the early 2000s like yourself I walked away, and haven't looked back other than keeping a very loose eye on what's happening but haven't even watched a match in years other than the classic ones I grew up with on UA-cam

You shouldn't put titles on characters like that they don't need it. They made the mistake with the fiend putting the belt on him because you can end up booking yourself into a corner. Even undertaker even tho he won the world title 7 times but people think he should of held it more but that was him not wanting the title runs because he said himself that his Character don't need titles and when he did held it was only to progress other storylines so they were short runs.
They always messed up Bray Wyatts booking. It was never the same after Cena, back in 2014. Even with the whole Fiend rebranding.
