Being a lefty, this brought a happy tear to my eye. Thank you!
As a lefty this is awesome. Never seen a left handed EDS
Impressed how well you did with the playing demo there!
Right? I don't think I would have been able to play upside down like that.
As a fellow lefty I'd love this 👍....
Same.
Dave Amato from REO Speedwagon owns a 1275 where the 6 string is on top and 12 on the bottom that was purchased through the Gibson Garage. I was there when he got it.
He has a doubleneck Telecaster too, doesn't he?
Finally, there’s a lefty out there! Bout time we get to see it. Thank you, Chris for ordering it. It’s a beauty.
LOVE IT, and I'm a lefty!!
Just a few minutes in and the top on that guy looks great! Love it!
Edit: its going to be painful to remove or alter that wiring. It looks so perfect..
Congrats to all the lefties. You have a shot at owning one now.
I still can’t believe the rate in which you upload content. It would be very interesting to see a behind the scenes and show us how you organize the shipments, storage and creation of content. You seem to work like a well lubricated machine! Btw, I’ve never considering buying a Gibson until I started watching your videos 😂 Keep it up!
As a old lefty in 1979 i tried to play right handed and i just coudnt do it! So the hunt is always on for cool guitars
Playing it upside down, having the high strings on top, it's all pull down instead of pushing the high strings up. Think of taking the high E and pull with all 4 fingers! Of course, upside down, some chords are impossible to play. Give and take. It's all sort of the same in the end, but it sure does look weird. I've seen other upside down lefties play, and it looks weird to me even though I play it that way myself. Good job playing it, Trogly!
Finally, a guitar I can respect. As a lefty, I get down seeing all the Gibson's I can't play, Thanks for this one.
Not quite ready for a 40 year fixed rate guitar mortgage
Luckily, I wasn't sipping anything when I saw your comment. Just sayin'...
i think the rate is variable, not to mention
@thehark6247 probably right, depends if you want dinner with Jimmy Page.
I need that double neck Gibson ! Yeah a left hand model
@@ianyelton407As someone who has suffered from G.A.S (guitar acquisition syndrome) for decades I really want a Gibson double neck, just not left handed.
Love the lefty!
Most unique feature is the parallelogram inlays, they are on right handed guitars made by Gibson.
Trogly!!!! I finally got my first gibson guitar. A dream come true. Its a Teal SG standard 61. Its beautiful and plays like a dream. My wallet blames you and he and are both happy. I will have a les paul at some point as well but the SG has always interested me a little more.
So, that was You! 😆
@@georgeprice4212 Were you also looking at one in guitar center? Hahaha
@@No_Lucks_Given actually, I was in the keyboard/ DJ area of Guitar Center.
@@No_Lucks_Given nope. Can’t lift the thing. Shoulder issues.
Your playing on that was Great 👍. Some of those 12 string chords were really nice. Cheers 🥂 🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸
I was hoping he would intermix the footage of cutting the chibson in two. Make people freak.....
Just incredible to see such a lefty.
You joke about 4, but Bill Bailey (English comedian) played a 6-neck beast on one of his tours.
the middle pickup position on that 12 string had a great sound. a little more bite than expected. good job playing it!
I'm glad the tailpieces are closer to the bridge. It looks better that way. And probably easier to restring if you run out of room.
That is absolutely gorgeous!!!
Guitar actually arrived 3 years ago and Trogly has been spending all that time learning to play lefty upside down.
That wood is beautiful
Refreshing to see a NEW version of this! I think a big difference for the 70s version is the 12 string head stock is smaller with the tuners closer together (see Alex Liefson's) I'm guessing part of the reason for the "claw" tailpiece is that your arm sets on it and this tailpiece's won't dig into your arm.
I'm curious as to what will surpass Steve Vai's HYDRA as far as multiple neck guitars go.
Rick Nielsen has a 5 neck guitar I think, don't know what the hydra has
Rick Nielsen also once had a _nine_ necked guitar!!
Trogly you did a great job playing that thing…well done👍
I’m a lefty who started playing a left handed guitar, but got frustrated not being able to play friends’ and family’s cool instruments. I started forcing myself to “air guitar” the opposite way until it felt normal. Decades later I can still play cowboy chords on a lefty instrument. (BTW, Paul McCartney can play cowboy chords right handed so he can pick up a stranger’s guitar at a party and play something).
6-string half sounds awesome!
John Paul Jones has a 3-neck … not sure of the configuration, but I think, mandolin, bass, guitar??
Let’s do this!
im a lefty that learned right handed, ive always wondered how my playing would differ if i had gone lefty
Only one way to find out!
You would be a guitar God.
I was kinda wanting to do a 3toggle rewiring for my double. I see with that route it’s probably not doable
Oh man! I'd love a lefty version Kazuyoshi Saito Les Paul.
That double SG is very nicely made.
The detail is meticulous and the mix of wood , plastic, and steel is pleasing.
Gibson is doing nice building in this era.
SG!!
I'm guessing he wanted the pickup and guitar switches swapped around. It's much more logical that the switch that traditionally switches pickups, still switches them on this guitar. Likewise, you'd think the switch that literally points at each guitar would be the one that selects the guitar. I honestly have no idea why they wired them counter intuitively. I'm also disappointed that Gibson refused to do it, comes off as a bit 'uppity' to me. It's been on my to-do list to re-wire mine, been low priority as much as I play it...
As a right-handed person this has been the best lefty review I have seen so far.
As a lefty I love it, wish I could afford it
7:54 yep. Left-handed for many things in life, but I learned guitar right-handed. It's definitely cost me a lot more, and I have way too many guitars, BUT the initial thought was that I had more dexterity in my left hand for chording and riffs. Who knows :)
OMG hook line and sinker I fell for that one!
My fave stage doublenecks: Page's classic, Frehley's cherry sunburst, Afroman's white Epiphone 1275
Brave to take on trying to play this. Looks very well made.
When you zoomed in on one of the truss rods , I could’ve sworn I seen finish checking when you zoomed in or am I seeing things?
That looked absolutely gorgeous.
Glad you tried to play it lefty as well, good show Trog. It’s a cool guitar for sure.
All 1275s come out of the Custom Shop. There is no such thing as a production shop 1275. Therefore, all 1275s come with the “Custom” truss rod covers.
I'm one of the many lefties who learned to play right handed. I grew up in a small town. The only way to get a a left handed guitar was by special order.
It's crap that they wouldn't let you place the tailpiece/string claw back like the Jimmy Page model on a "left hand" custom order.. ....uuuum okay Gibson are you going to even make a Jimmy Page eds1275 in a left handed option? ..........if not then telling this guy "No" is just petty and rude, do better!
True, but maybe Page had a strict licensing policy on how many could be made, but 100% there will be no lefties
I'm sure they're saving that for an $80,000 Jimmy Page Artist Deluxe Uber Ultra Limited Edition Signature model.
Maybe they didn’t have the ultra long strings for it yet? 🤷♂️
They don’t often do signatures in lefties due to contractual limitations.
@@oonamorrioghanblackthorne yeah all those right handed guitarists say no we want to sell fewer guitars and have everyone make less money.
Congrats Chris on a beautiful example of EDS-2550! Lefty here too but learned on right hand guitar playing right handed. I figure it makes sense cause it was easier to learn lead playing with my left writing hand on the fretboard when young. And like a lot of lefties I was ambidextrous enough I could still learn to finger pick with my right hand.
I'm left handed and learned to play right handed. but I don't have a an ambidextrous bone in my body.
@@musicauthority674 in the 1960s in some places they still tried to make left handed kids covert to right handed or get corporal punishment. Motivation to adapt.
Thanks for featuring a lefty!!
The B roll was beautiful.
I've seen John Paul Jones Play a three neck accustic. Never seen it sence.
That finish is to die for!!
Almost got me!
As a lefty, what a dream!
Strangers of Jimi Hendrix style 1:12
Very nice figuring on that lefty. Love seeing that on a Mahogany body
I think Gibson should make a doubleneck ES335 semi hollow would make it less heavy. I think it would be cool like the Slash Guild Double neck.
Great review.
What is the acoustic track used at the end?
Trogly’s boss in this, thank you Chris!
You able to do a view reviewing the new epiphone Gibson custom guitar line please!
The Double neck, also known as Gods guitar or the Stairway guitar! Most iconic guitar ever!
1979 serial, sweet! My birth year! Great job trying to play it!
Congrats on the new double neck Chris good job playing upside down Trogster 🤘
Great review and demo Austin!
Seeing the final product is nice but maybe one day you could do an episode going through the whole Made 2 Measure process.
I was thinking Trog doesn't sound as sharp as usual + remembered the strings were backwards like you mentioned . So that was impressive.
Wouldn't the rewiring of the pickup knob be just a matter of turning it 180 degrees?
Curious...did you rehearse before the playing demo...i love a challenge...🎸🇺🇸🤘
If you did do a Quad, it has to be in In N Out colors & called the Double Double.
Yep, when I first started guitar, the shop guys asked if I’d played before as a lefty… and they talked my dad into just getting a righty. Funny thing is, I’ll still play drums (badly) lefty (righty is much worse).
Why is the middle voltage reading "just for fun"? I mean it is a legit position to use on a guitar :)
From right around the first anniversary of when I began learning to play guitar in the spring of 1996, I've discovered that I'm capable of playing a left-handed guitar in both positions. I've also made at least one attempt at playing a right-handed guitar in lefty posture.
More available string choice with the shorter anchors ;) Way better
that Cherry body was particularly nice. I have 2 2015 Cherry. One an SG Std the other is a SG Special and a total of 4 guitars and I can't play lol
Cool guitar looks like a total beast to play!
YEP! My brother does everything LEFT handed, but when he first picked up my guitar I flipped it over and told him the RIGHT way to play it. Luckily he then ended up learning to play on a 'regular' Right handed guitar, so has the luxury of not having to source lefties!
I had a white one years ago, it hung down past my knees.
Wow! That guitar is, guitars are? gorgeous!!!
At 0:34 you can see on the six string part, that Gibson forgot to put the Dot over the i in Gibson on the headstock. It is there on the 12 sting headstock. Where is the quality department?
That is a vintage spec
Wow was just watching a feature on Rick emmett and his favourite Gibson double neck and why player's use double necks, it's 10 year's old but so cool check it out, then trogly's comes on with double necks,A fan from calgary Canada 🍁
1:50 Trogly giving us his Rick Nielsen impersonation :)
As a lefty and a DN lover, I'd no idea you could actually get Gibson to build a LH double neck. 8 month wait is great. My LH Tokai LP took about 8 months. I guess the price was stupid expensive?
Super Cool and Good to Know!
I really think that is a beautiful and extremely cool guitar. I just don’t understand Gibson and their pricing. I am a guitar maker and I know that you have to make a profit and pay your overhead but the price on some of these guitars like this are absolutely out of touch with the normal player. I can see collectors wanting the latest and greatest. I would think Gibson would’ve done a little bit better on the tailpiece on these guitars. Sometimes when you charge an extra 2000 -4000 for the really awesome piece of wood on the top? I have played some really really great Les Pauls, Most of them from the late 60s into the early 70s, that was way before my time, but it seems to me that’s when they made them so phenomenal, I had a Gibson Paul that was made in the 80s all walnut and it was one of the most fun guitars I ever had. The ones that I look at are the Les Paul custom? Awesome guitars but I can make them for 25%. They just don’t say Gibson ha ha I guess that’s the big difference. They are truly all legendary company. Awesome show I catch it just about every day, I like it when you go off and do some fender stuff, as well as all the other makers.
That red is fantastic
That guitar sounds good...
Have I always wanted a left handed EDS 1275.
Don't know what it is but those are my favorite inlays by Gibson..that top is nice....cool guitar Forsure ..
Mine too!
Yeah, I loves me some double parallelogram. Them on a gold 295 is nirvana.
Don’t forget Junior Brown’s guit-steel double ‘neck’.
Nice
Hey Trogly why does one headstock have the I dotted on Gibson and the other one doesn't. Was that intentional. Or is that standard on that model.
i want to see the pickups.. T-tops?? those 70's new wound from gibson? i was told there maybe were some Seymours in jimmy's guitars...
hope you buddy enjoys it for sure
Nice job!
Hey trogly " ...DO you keep all the box sales tags?..and if so how many guitars box tags have you collected?😊
Austin, would you be interested in checking the specs on my Epiphone ES-1275 double neck? It was made in Korea and is very close to Page's version. It looks really good and sounds fantastic. I was thinking of using it temporarily until I had the money saved for the Gibson version, but now I'm not so sure I want to swap it out.
