The last time I spoke to my father it was an argument over loaning me 50 bucks to get some supplies before leaving for basic training. The day after I graduated I was called to the commander's office and told he was in a coma with 72 hours or less. They had me on a flight within 4 hours. It was late when I arrived but I made it in time to hold his hand. An hour after I left I got the call that he had passed. While it no doubt tasted very good, it's also a popular dish in Vietnam that she must know will absolutely be destroyed in terms of presentation, considering she only lost her sight in her 20s. I didn't understand why she chose that particular dish for such an important occasion. When she said in this video she chose the dish because it reminded her of her mom, it all made sense. That was a tribute to her mom. She obviously wanted to win, but above all, she wanted to feel closer to her mom in one of the most important moments of her life.

I remember this show as if it were yesterday. Her determination to not allow a disability stop her from achieving her dream is profound. At times when I see her struggle it made me cry, but she turned her tragedy into triumph is very inspiring. Knowing that she exist makes my life that much better. This show alone, not only made me respect Christine but also the judges for showing a different side of their humanity.

You'll only be shocked if you don't know a blind person. My MIL was blind since her teens and yet she cooked and baked for a family of 5. Up until a couple of years before she died, she used to cook Christmas dinner every year for the whole family.

I've lost my dad years back, he was a western chef and had never taught me cooking either. I used to joke with him that I can become a chef just like him.
He didn't want me to become as the job was so tough, you have to work rotated shifts, high temperature working environment and long hours of standing.
He adores me for my pass twenty years, and I didn't have his own personal receipe that I could learn to re make or duplicate his dish.
It was all too late and I'm starting to forget how the taste is and how he look like, it was just like yesterday when he prepares for my F and B class, all the necessary ingredients and seasonings which everyone was so envious abt how professional I am
I miss my dad, he was the best dad and the best chef, he's irreplaceable.

"Inspirational" isn't a strong enough word. I fight my own inner demons and I watch her story when I need to snap myself out of it. If a lady who is BLIND can be a MasterChef, there are NO excuses for anyone else, IMO. Well done Chistine! You are a roll model.

Christine Ha is someone I can relate to. I lost my granddaddy this year and he was an amazing cook. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to learn his recipes. I always thought that I'd never be able to cook like the rest of my family. When I saw Christine and learned her story, I started thinking maybe I could.
If she, a blind woman, can overcome her struggles and surpass her wildest dreams, then why can't I do the same thing?
And now I'm on my way to do just that. If I could talk to her, I'd say thank you. She is one of my biggest inspirations.
