    The price per oz for ISDIN sunscreen is actually less than EltaMD UV Clear. I think it seems more startling because of the larger upfront cost for larger size. (ISDIN sunscreens are twice size of EltaMD UV Clear.)

    I’ve been using the isden ( non- tinted) for a few years. Grew up in Florida on the beach, I had extensive beginning skin cancers ( Actinic Keratosis) on my face . My regimen of Isden on face days/ neck and Retin-A 0.5 nights has resolved all pre cancers, and improved appearance tremendously. My dermatologist was shocked, my skin looks amazing. Wears awesome under makeup. I don’t like the tinted isden… too orange for my relatively light and cool skin.

    Many of the Heliocare sunscreens contain DNA repair enzymes. The Age Active Fluid is excellent as is the AK Fluid. Sesderma also has an excellent DNA repair product called Repaskin Mender that has a range of other beneficial ingredients including Teprenone and antioxidants besides the DNA repair enzymes.There’s so much available once you start looking.

    I have been waiting for you to discuss the legitimacy of the DNA repair enzymes. This video is exactly what I wanted to know! Thank you! I'm not on the bandwagon but mainly because of budget restraint. I would rather use an inexpensive sunscreen everyday. Someday if the cost comes down, I would prefer to use a Serum with the DNA repair enzymes in it. That said I have no history of skin cancers and none in my ancestors thankfully. I might think differently otherwise

    Great video Dr. D! Our dermatologist recommended ISDIN Eryfotona Actinica for my husband and I to wear as our daily face sunscreen. We are both 43. I really like it. It is very emollient, so it spreads very easily and is not greasy once rubbed in. And I have brownish skin tone, and this does not leave a cast. The 3.4 ounce bottle lasts a decent amount of time. I don't pay anywhere near $70 for it though! I pay around $50 when I buy it directly at my derm's office. Sometimes, they run "specials" and I get it for around $45. Yes, around the eyes if I'm sweating a lot and the sunscreen gets in my eyes, it does sting. We've been using this sunscreen about 2 years and are happy with it. I have no wrinkles or lines, and wear zero makeup, so I always want a great sunscreen!

    • @mce1939
      @mce1939 2 роки тому +2

      @@MamaMia914 No, I don't find it to be sticky at all. I think because it is so emollient. If you put some on the palm of your hand and turned your hand upside down, it would drip off. Kind of like a "runnier" sunscreen. Which, I actually like because it is not super thick & sticky, and is very easy to spread. Hope that helps!

    I have used the non-tinted ISDIN for years. I really think it has made a huge difference in my skins appearance in addition to offering sun protection. Never noticed the fragrance so that was interesting to hear.

    I've been using ISDIN Eryfotona Actinica for a few years. I have found it does not irritate my sensitive skin or make me break out. It holds up really well during super sweaty bike rides and even though the cost seems steep, it lasts a long time. I was told to use it on the backs of my hands (for DNA repair/sun damage). I liked what it did for my hands, so I started using it on my face too. It is now my daily facial sunscreen (and I just wear sun gloves on my hands). I am as pale as my avatar.

    I’ve been using ISDEN for years - discovered it in Barcelona while traveling. I use both - I found the tinted a bit too dark and orange for my fair complexion so I mix a bit of the non tinted in the tinted formula. They work well under makeup (foundations - Surratt, Chantecaille, Le Mer, Chanel, Lisa Eldridge, Tom Ford - been using ISDEN for years with different foundations :-) and in fact most times I don’t wear foundation with the tinted/non tinted mix. My skin is on the dry side. The scent dissipates almost immediately - love this product.

    Just purchased ISDIN Eryfotona Actinica, as I have been looking to switch to an all mineral sunscreen. Most are way too thick and goopy on my skin. Also, I don't care for tinted sunscreens because they always look "off" on my light complexion, which is why I didn't go for the Ageless version. WOW, I was an EltaMD Clear user for years and I have been converted. Elta was always a tiny bit greasy and though I loved it, it was the one downside. I had a definite sheen in my T-zone all day. For a mineral sunscreen, ISDIN is a complete dream!! I personally didn't notice any white case, though; I am somewhat fair. I have combo, sensitized skin and this was the perfect mix of moisture without the shine....seriously just perfect for me. Very lightweight and while I amno longer a big make-up wearer, I think it would go over this nicely. Only downside was the fragrance. It is a baby powdery smell and is a bit strong at first. I can say that it quickly dissipated and whatever the "fragrance" additive is, it didn't seen to affect my sensitive skin, so this is now my go-to. It is pricy ($60 vs. Elta's $39) but the bottle is big and I can see it lasting several months. MAKE SURE TO SHAKE IT WELL BEFORE APPLYING ;0)

    I started using ISDIN Eryfotona Actinica a week ago and am IN LOVE. First of all, it wears beautifully under makeup. You do have to let it set for 10-15 min though so it won't pill. But once it sets..beautiful. There is a white cast initially (I'm white but have very olive/mediterranean skin tone) but once it sets there's no cast at all for me. Some hyperpigmentation has already faded with this even though prior to switching I have been wearing an spf 50 for 8 months. It's just a great sunscreen. There is a hint of scent but it bothers my rosacea prone sensitive skin less than some other 'non scented' sunscreens on the market. My morning routine is just a light warm water rinse, followed by the ordinary's azelaic acid and then the isdin. If I'm feeling extra dry I will put on a lightweight moisturizer on before the isdin. LOVE THIS STUFF.

    Thank u for your review dear Dr Dray. I've been using eryfotona actinica since last Nomeber. I live in a very sunny with high degree of humidity city and this product helped me a lot to get over previous sunburns and by the time I've noticed it helps with redness too. The only problem for me is, the white cast, it takes some times (about 30 min,which is a long time in working days) to fade away, other than that, I prefer it to many other mineral sunacreen such as supergoop, skinceutical sheer mineral, heliocare and cerave. Additionally it lasts longer thanks to its amount.

    This was very interesting, Dr. Dray. I have been curious about the DNA Repair enzymes, too. As far as the DNA repair, do you think it makes more of a difference for older people who already have significant sun damage from growing up when there were no effective sunscreens (me), than for a younger person with not sun damage? My derm has visited ISDIN in Spain and says it is so clean you can eat off the floor. She loves this sunscreen, too. When you first reviewed it 3 years ago, it did, indeed, have a very strong awful scent. It seems that ISDIN has really responded to customers who don't like that. I find it very mild now, and somehow, by the 2nd half of the bottle, hardly there at all. I usually am really irritated by fragrance but not this one. I try a lot of sunscreens and, like another viewer, keep coming back to this. I have tried the tinted, and it is quite nice, but I finally realized I just don't like tinted sunscreens, like I don't like foundation. Too much of a hassle. I may be giving up the iron oxides, but it isn't staining my clothes, getting on my tissue when I blow my nose, etc. Last summer I used the poly podium supplement, which is like Heliocare with some extra stuff, bought on sale. I swim everyday, and did not burn or tan. I do of course wear heavy water-resistant sunscreen on my body, too. Thank you for your channel, I have learned so much and my skin has improved greatly since I started watching you in 2019.

  • @Clau574
    @Clau574 3 місяці тому +1

    I have tried both, but in my location, they are a bit different. All versions here are only half the size of the video, they are expensive for a sunscreen of this size and the non tinted one portrays a 99 FPS protection (99 UVB and 38 UVA) - Eryfotona AK-NMSC fluid and promises the DNA repair technology. The tinted one is a 50 FPS and the product is called Fotoultra ISDIN Fusion Water Color. There is another Fotoultra ISDIN Active Unify Fusion Fluid which is also a 99 FPS that promises to prevent and treat hyperpigmentation.
    All versions sting around the eye area and the fragrance is mild, especially the non tinted versions. The tinted one has a more annoying scent but still okay.
    Now the tinted one does give a yellow cast that I dislike but it is not an 'ugly' look, it just gives you some kind of 'warmth' if you have a white rosey peach skin but not super pale and pink. I prefer the non tinted version, it feels less greasy and more subtle, maybe more absorbable.
    I have been using Eryfotona for a year now.

Apart from the overwhelming scent it was a fantastic sunscreen, non-sticky, lightweight and surprisingly qiute inexpensive. I would repurchase it but the scent was so strong my husband hated it when I was using it. I bought this product and really liked how it felt on my skin, but after today, I am very disappointed. The UV protection actually offered by this sunscreen is much less than advertised. I went to a football game at around noon, and reapplied my sunscreen after 1.5 hours. My mom had told me that my freckles were showing and I was very confused. I did apply enough of the sunscreen and didn't put anything on top. Upon further research by EWG, I found that it has a very poor rating for it's real SPF and doesn't protect from UVA very well.

    After going through several sunscreen brands, Isdin sunscreens have the first brand not to cause me irritation near the eye area. I love how the formula blends into my skin seamlessly. Also, reapplication is smooth and I don't feel any buildup throughout the day. Both the tinted and non-tinted formulas keep my skin protected, smooth, and hydrated. I say Isdin is worth a try if you have gone through several trial and errors with other mineral sunscreens.

    What do you think would provide best anti-aging benefits on the long run: a sunscreen that in addition to UVA/UVB also protects from long UVA (New La Roche), a sunscreen that does not do that but has DNA repair enzymes (ISDN for example) or one that does not do either of this but protects against blue light (as regular tinted sunscreens)?
    Oh, also, what is the benefit from protection of infrared light? Saw this on Heliocare sunscreens, but have no idea what is the benefit (if any). The Heliocare by the way I think also has DNA repair enzymes, Vitamin C, and protection to visible light, but no protection from long UVA, so I don't know where it would stand compared to the new one from La Roche.
    Ahhh, so complicated! It is hard to know what is better with so many options.

    • @levisinner2694
      @levisinner2694 2 роки тому +3

      La Roche Posay has the UVmune 400 Tinted Fluid with vitamin E so you can protect yourself from UVA, visible and IF with one product. Btw, IF protection = antioxidants (B3, C, E ...) As far as I know no SPF filter can protect you from IF.

    • @jameskivior6062
      @jameskivior6062 2 роки тому +4

      I think honestly antioxidants are best in the day and DNA repair enzymes are best at night. Your body generally repairs damaged DNA later in the day and is more focused on protecting it during the day.

    This is very promising if it actually repairs DNA damage, but I have some follow-up questions. Would it be good enough to use these sunscreens a few times a week, and use a less expensive sunscreen on other days, or does it have to be applied every day to repair DNA? Could you use it every day for a few months just to repair DNA damage, and then switch back to a less expensive sunscreen? Would it be better to save this sunscreen for when you're going to be in the sun a lot, like during summer when you go to the beach?
