The story was unbelivebly fantastic . I played it around launch . Had to restart multiple times but once I mastered it , I went and got the non-company-approved ending
can you explain what happened in the aftermath of the ship launch in the solar system. why is that villain AI ship that's hunting us is one the scientists from the prologue ?
@@nicbahtin4774 apparently after the Lunaclysm Battista left the DOLOS and established the Black Market Society, his own side in the war between the UN vs DOLOS and the Ashtangites, the one beyond conventional Earth laws (he talks about Earth laws not applying to anything happening in space). And at some point the BMS built the Piranesi, with its AI, Naraka, based on Battista's personality, to ensure the destruction of both the UN and the DOLOS. It seems Naraka "devoured" all of the remaining BMS personnel, assimilated them into the Piranesi's megastructure. The Piranesi followed the Etemenanki and the Protagoras after they left the Sol system, caught up with the Etemenanki after the latter had scrapped Protagoras, and after a lengthy fight used its planetkiller gun to destroy the Etemenanki and the gas giant behind it, but the cannon severely damaged the Piranesi itself and after another jump (towards Remus) Naraka was forced to shut the ship down and begin repairs. Centuries later our Tiqqun arrives there and accidentally awakens Naraka and the Piranesi while retrieving coordinates of Remus from it.
Man yes it was 😩 reminded me of battlestar galactica , I follow two people on my ship I think they were sisters judging by there names they were twins… they both joined one of my science ships and died … I was so up set and I still remember them 😔… i followed them from the very beginning then when I got to I think it was the 2nd or third solar system we ran in to this experiment and was curious soon as them retrieve it … next thing I know … zombies …
31:17 I actually like playing under this mechanic and hope they can expand on it in DLC. It shows a trust in the player's ability that most colony sims lack.
Thank you for the review sir. I dont know why you have so few views, but i enjoyed it! Personally i dont enjoy ixion due to struggling to even survive in chapter one as well as struggling to understand which choice is actually good and which ones are not, such as the very first event choice in chapter one killing either a few or many people, which feels kind of random and punishing to the player. I am a strategy gamer/colony manager, not a scientist, so I'm somewhat upset that the game expexts me to have that same knowlwdge and realizing that thawing the ice is a bad choice Love the music however, as well as the space station spinning. And though i may not like it as a whole, i hope they continue to develop it because listening about/watching it, and i believe it contribures a lot to the gaming world. Also, thank you for also making the review after a year - so many games get a review when it just released, when there is little time to analyze it and the most critical features/fixes may not yet have arrived. Have a good day sir
Glad you enjoyed the video! Many reviews on this channel are done after a year to allow games to cook abit after launch to get a better understanding of developer vision.
Just finished the game 5 minutes ago. I am very impressed by it. Only downside is that chapter 5 is pretty underwhelming, and that there is no freeplay or DLC.
Very well made and presented review. I feel Ixion is ultimately more style than substance, the shots of distant stars and the Tiqqun hovering over alien worlds, coupled with another knock-out OST from Guillaume David are probably its best parts, but the actual gameplay/substance of the game is still well made and enjoyable.
Maybe no free play but you can spend as much time as you want at the end of each but the last chapters. It takes awhile to collect all the resources on the map. The ship doesn't have enough room to hold all of it. It's tedious but easy. Once you get some things in place the population being unhappy isn't an issue.
I saw the release reviews were negative but around 70pc positive from actual owners so I tried it. I think one text user review said it best when they called it an rts that forces you to play in parallel. Acknowledging that the micromanagement is part of the game would help it's appeal. Also Imo there should have been more procedurally generated events and different galaxies. Like a pool of 10 galaxies but you only play through some of them when jumping. The replay isn't great because of the optimisation that makes it linear.
what do u say about visuales in this game ? is it just cutscenes ? i saw it in the trailer , it was amazing but when i saw the actual gameplay it looked like citybox or city sandbox bluid (u know what i mean) i played space engine , it's the best game in term of visual and have 90% realistic scenes but the space travel is suck. so i'm looking for game that smiler to space engin and has a good spce travle gameplay
Ixion has been fun, albeit as someone that is okay at these sort of games, I was only challenged when the game walked me into a trap of opening a new sector too early. After that everything was pretty easy and soon enough the curve turned into a cakewalk. The story was nice, although eventually got a bit weird (it was implied that the CEO in charge knew we would blow up the moon? The heck?!). So a nice game with great visuals and music, but could've been a bit more...
Take functioning brain, place in searing frying pan, season to taste. When complete you have experienced ixion. Hard. There is a fine line to walk for everything to run smooth. Smooth meaning bald tires and fresh snow coming down. Good game. Worth the money. Only way to experience it really is to play and fail. If you watch a lot of playthroughs you basically take more and more away from the game. The game is the experience of having to be in charge of the last of humanity being just a guy being placed into the position and no experience. Once you know everything its just do option a until said time then switch to option b. Clicking sim.
Well the game is good, but could be greater... it feels like some missions are missing close to the end... and the end is where everything falls apart.... It could be so much better... I hope they release some paid expansion for this game...
I see it not easy. I guess it design to balance not easy job. As we are same. Going crazy and moral is not easy to maintain in long journey. History to be forgot due to current world changing or something.
The story was unbelievably shit. I played it at launch .I mastered it in the first playthrough, you really need a low IQ to fail at it or make the mistake of playing it like a city builder. Bad time to be had, music is the best part.

I'm sitting on the fence for this year for a whole year now. glad you made a review for it.
Good review! The game itself is pretty awesome and unique. Dark sci fi City builder that is sometimes brutal. Soundtrack is fantastic!
Love your step by step indepth reviews

the game is pretty good, the soundtrack is a 10/10
very much enjoyed this game, i wish they expanded more on the mysterious space anomalies

Story is nonsensical, illogical and ignores basic physics....
Gameplay is excellent - just play and ignore the fluff.
