@itsRomainFaure ~ HoHoHo ~ Thank you so much for our moment in time together. You are on the Good Kids List!!
I love your style and as a younger " boomer " who is NOT rolling in the bucks, I appreciate your focusing on some older people occasionally. Not every one in my age bracket is sitting on millions in retirement savings, an image young people seem to have of us. I appreciate that you ( unlike other young finance YTers) remember the 2008,09 financial crisis that knocked many people on their ar___e.. I remember how desperate many laid off middle-aged workers were to find ANY job and how many were forced to draw on their retirement to survive. This represents a lot of people who are now in retirement age. What happened to them?
This is the most realest Santa I’ve seen in real life. Wow. ❤
@aleencaeli HoHoHo Thank You very much. Spreading the Christmas JOY!
So nice of you to do the GoFundMe. This Santa experience made me believe in the magic of Santa as an adult, for different reasons. The fact he takes times to read and hand write letters back to the kids had me crying 😢
He is a survivor! Clearly traumatized by his health care crisis as so many others have been. He has a good soul. I pray for his financial stability. His tole as “Santa” gives him sparkle and purpose. God bless him❤️🙏🇺🇸🎅🏻
Love it!
This man is an empath and feels so many hurts of others. But he needs to get paid to be Santa Claus. He has to take care of himself so then he can give even more to others.
He had a great year with donations ! Also we completed a go fund me with $1000 for the holiday period ☺️
but he says that he spends all the money on gifts! NO that is not good. @@itsRomainFaure
Santa needs to get a job as a voice actor!! And Santa services ❤❤❤❤
I like these way better than Caleb Hammer, his constant screaming and drama gets tiresome after a while, meanwhile I could listen to this in peace while working :)
I agree. You can tell the difference in quality just by the comment sections. I personally feel a lot people watch Caleb Hammer videos to make fun of the guests and have a laugh at their expense. Doesn't help that Caleb begun to get a little more mean-spirited the more popular he got making it his "style".
Right and he calling his guests stupid and offend them in different ways just for the clicks.
@@fatarismo I've watched Caleb since the beginning and I miss his disappointed dad style. Now he's just nasty. It gets old fast, I unsubbed from him the other day and subbed to Roman instead. I got a caleb video right after uploading the other day, and the title changed four times in three hours, getting more offensive and click-baity each time. I bailed that day.
I get there is an element of judgement and rubbernecking at people's bad decisions in all this kind of video, but there is a limit and caleb's guests are no longer in on the joke. More and more of them are on his show are saying I've get this mental health issue/My meds are getting sorted/I'm going through diagnosis for this mental issue and it's clear where their problem has come from and caleb and people in the comments are ripping them apart.
I can't be part of that.
Caleb is a young dude with financial knowledge. He's got lots to learn about life and that money is key to a lot of things we do, but it isn't everything.
What a great episode! As difficult as his financial and medical situations are, I think it's wonderful that he has been able to find something that he's so passionate about. I would love it if you were able to have more older guests on the channel (50+) because I think it's very impactful to see how small financial decisions can stack up over time, for better or worse. Wishing Santa all the best!
Noted ! and yes we are doing our best to engage with a vast variety of ages and stories. The goal is to have as much of a representation as possible ! Know that a content like the one presented today represents over 60 hours of work for our small team so we put great importance in providing the most relatable stories 😁
Santa is so sweet. An amazing man.
I agree ☺️
I love Santa. What a wonderful person he is.
This is a sobering reminder that no one is coming for you. You have to make sure you’re taken care of when you’re old. I’m 50 right now and while I have a seven figure net worth and often consider early retirement, I quickly come back to reality and imagine 70 year old me and imagine if I do stop working now, I may be in this guys shoes some day.
You seem to be doing excellent, keep it up and I am positive that you won’t be in our friends situation here
At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter how much you make but the impact you make on the world. Thank you Santa Clause 🎅 Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays 🎄
🏆
Merry Christmas to YOU! at the end of the day, it is all about the impact you made in the world and how you made them feel. Sending Christmas JOY to You and Yours.
This Santa is very resourceful and knows how to survive. He may not be rich, but he is living the way he wants which says for a lot and maybe perhaps maybe he is happier than a lot of people who are super rich. Actually, I think if he had a UA-cam channel he could do quite well on it. He is really good in front of the camera and people would love to listen to him just talk about whatever lol
I agree :) it was a pleasure having him !
A sweet person this Santa is. I wish him all the love & happiness in his lifetime❤
What an amazing person! ❤ He's Santa at heart.
I felt the same way☺️
I'm so glad Romain that you are getting much older people on your show as we have a greater challenge if we fucked it up when young and running out of time as we are older
I try to bring the greatest diversity I can :)
💯
amazing episode as always! 👏 He has been through a lot in life and hope that his journey will continue in a better direction!
Thank you mate! Guys also check out Bailey’s content - he is also in the space and has a ton of great stories too 😁
I just want to give him a big hug. When he got choked up - so did I
Bless this sweet man forever❤❤❤
Mr. Romain was a psychotherapist in a previous lifetime - a darn good one! 😊
Hehe thank you Sacha :)
I have been binging these shows. I have never cried before on a financial show. Please keep doing them. They are amazing and you are doing a great service in a kind way. Thank you!
I am overwhelmed with the fact that this show connected directly with you, I had such an intense experience recording with John (Santa) as well. It felt like I was speaking with the real Santa!
What a wonderful soul and a generous heart. If we all give a little it can make a difference.
Santa was so likable. And his closing msg at the end 🥺
I randomly came upon your channel last week and have been binging all of your videos . I really love your content . So educational. Praying many Blessings for this Santa 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Awesome! Thank you so much for your support:) Glad you like them! I try to bring as much of a diversity as possible
❤❤❤ He is a real Santa. I know we need money in life but his purpose and heart is richer than many others with lots of money.
I agree with you - it was a magical experience :),
Corny
You're very talented, I like your format more than Caleb Hammer and your quality of guests are so much better. Please don't give up on this channel, keep going! I subbed
Thank you very much for this comment ! It keeps me going :)
When seeing this Santa and listening to his heart, this really IS Santa!!!! “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause.”
Right? I felt the same way !!!
I love how you really meet people where they are while intensely listening and never shaming. That's a gift. (Currently binge-watching your channel.)
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you for all of your nice comments Marian :)
I just wanna say Thank you Romain for always being so kind & humble to every guest you have.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t think you can have a beneficiary for SS other than your spouse or minor children.
Thank you for being a loyal subscriber too :) as for the Social Security Beneficiary it would be his partner (aka. His wife) who would benefit from it 👍
@@itsRomainFaure Ah okay. He never called her his “wife”, only referred to her as “partner” so thinking they weren’t married. So anyone boyfriend/girlfriend can be a beneficiary then?
@@teachersherrie8420 you are correct for the need to be either dependent or wife/husband. In the case for John here it would be his wife 👍
@@itsRomainFaure I think once he starts collecting, she can get half of his benefit, too, and then his full benefit if he predeceases her?
Social Security is really unfair to single people. A spouse who never worked can get half their spouse's benefit and then their full benefit. Divorced people benefit, as well. SS should do better by single folks, too.
Awww 😢 ❤I couldn’t stop tearing up! That’s the sweetest Santa ever! I pray 🙏 he heals up and gets strength and lives a very long happy blessed life ! An absolute treasure 🥰💕💕💕Your show is so loving and deep and thoughtful with great advice from both yourself and your darling guests. Thank you all🙏
My apologies for the late reply, I finally just read your comment :) Thank you soo much for taking to time to write this very kind comment!
The best santa ever 😊 what a kind hearted human being. I wish you all the best ❤
It’s notable how the years makes a person more humble.
Yes, experience speaks for itself!
I respect that he is frugal most of the time, but he still sends the message to give $$$ even if you're struggling financially. There are other ways to enjoy the holidays that doesn't involve consumerism. You have you help yourself first before you can help others.
This episode was absolutely beautiful ❤
I agree - one of my favorite !
If more people were like this gentleman the world would be a lot better place to live in.
What an amazing conversation!!! I learned new perspectives. The kindness, positive spirit, and genuine interest to sort out the financial issues of Santa were very refreshing to witness. All the best to both of you.
Thank you! Very kind comment ☺️ I am glad you liked it !
He has a giving heart. I hope he gets financially blessed in his life! It would be great to do a follow up story on this sweet man.
Will do my best!
Proud of you brother! What an amazing job. The world need more people like Santa around the world. Thank you for sharing
Thank you Esteban !
Such an awesome story!!! Keep up the amazing content!
I am watching this on the 29 th January 2024. Bit soon , but Happy Birthday Santa 🎉
Its never too late :)
Any way we can donate to him?
I have some old phones he can have for entertainment & half-decent texting and would gladly throw him enough money to feed his cat and pay laundry for the year. Dear lord this man seems wonderful, I'd love to help. Probably doesn't hurt that he looks like Santa either ;)
NVM - Just made it to the GoFundMe part!
Wow, John is amazing, a true Santa. As food for thought I think living in Mexico is a great opportunity for Americans whose money multiplies x18! And there is a very nice American community in Vallarta that would love to have John and his partner. Wish you the best. And thanks Romain, for the opportunity of meeting John and contributing a little on his behalf.
Thank you very much for sharing!
Thank you Roman for letting mankind understand what is truly happening in our world. Depicting others struggles is the only way we can educate the masses to comprehend the reality of the world and make the needed changes to prevent dissolution.🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for trusting me with your time Mary ☺️
Santa is amazing!!! Hope his health gets better
Yes this was an amazing experience !
The pension system is so harsh 😮 it's nice that you didn't rush through the background stories of the guests since it's actually very important. Sometimes the bad financial decisions are not the issue but actually the symptoms or results of something bigger in the person's life. Keeping it humane is both respectful and way to provide the better advices. His story is such a great reminder why we need to save and plan for retirement early with proper insurance and emergency funds. All good decisions could be ruined just because you fell ill or have an accident. And honestly, when can school start teaching kids personal finance.
True re schools - however they do teach mathematics and many kids aren't interested.
I watched a very patient and astonished newsagent recently explaining basic addition to his new assistant, who looked totally not understanding it. He eventually said: "this is primary school maths, you would have done it...."
When I was at a small island school, the teachers saw their job was to make sure every child knew how to read, write and do mathematics - that was back in the 1960s on a small island in north Scotland. And you could leave school at 15.
Other countries and cultures don't seem to respect and love Learning like we did. And times have changed in many places too.
I like how you encourage him to have a plan for his cat if his cat gets sick and needs vet care. He’s an animal lover and pets are important to us animal lovers. I have a cat named Alice too.
I had to make sure that I pierce to something that is highly important to him in order to motivate to take action :)
Idk why I’m suddenly realizing you look like Where is Waldo😂😂. Love the channel bro.
Hahah I might use this one day for one my future videos lol
This is your best show 👍
Glad you liked it :) this one is one of my favorites too
He's quite the story teller. He reminds me of my older cousin
I agree, pretty sure we are missing some context here.
Great episode Romain, this guy is a sweet heart, I hope he finds balance and can get himself in better financial standings :/
Cheers ! Thank you 😊
Donated! We can all use a little help.
I saw thank you so much for your donation ☺️
@@itsRomainFaure It's a bit late, but I am catching up with your videos and watching them in random order :)
@@annemarie3636 go for it haha
Just found this channel and started binging the episodes. I feel for this man so much, but I'm so happy you started a gofundme for him. I can't give much being on my own financial action plan. Maybe we can get him that $2k e-fund by that 6 months mark?
Thank you for trusting me with your time :) yes we reached the goal 😁 we will see how it continues and don’t worry just watching the video helped us out to continue
I Loved the snow 😊
What a Beautiful soul. Christmas magic is Real. Thank you ❤🎅
It was an AMAZING Experience interviewing him!
Thanks
This one really touched me. A real-life Santa that values what is really worth in life.
I felt the exact same way as you interviewing him !
Wishing him the best! I kinda wish my job was watching others' dogs 🙂 I enjoyed hearing a bit about your life/family as well.
Thank you :) you could always donate some of your time to rescues / foster dogs ☺️ could bring great happiness too !
God, this episode was soulcrushing
Yes this one was tough but also so REAL!
Wow ! What generosity... Even in his situation he wants to live a little longer at least just for his wife... You dont see this dedication anymore
The Real Santa.
Damn this is so sad
An emotional swing for sure, but I see here the positive with opportunities for a greater life in the short term and the emotional rewards he gets from engaging in this activity. I felt like I was speaking with the real Santa for a minute :)
I love this channel!!!
Thank you for trusting me with your time !
Love this guy...I really hope he can generate more income just to be safe but he really seems content just getting by.
Yes I also really liked my interview with him ☺️
Beautiful
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the story :)
He could rent his services to adults - these Millennial teens would love this and their parents will pay for anything. Don't think about little kids when you book for parties, little kids living in a fairy tale still. Best of luck to you!
Us millennials are in our late 20s to early 40s. I think you mean Gen Z and even many of them are adults now.
Interesting episode. I'd say its nice he's so into giving but certainly he actually regrets not finding balance between living in the now and planning for the future. It's a cautionary tale. Certainly he's a kind person and I wish for the best. I do believe when he gets his 1500 he'll be able to treasure those dollars. I'd suggest he NOT give away every dollar he has now though on gifts. There's a realtiy that phsyical items aren't what's valuable . His loved one's don't care about gifts more than they care about him.
I agree with your assessment - looking into his accounts he spends a decent (not overboard) amount on gifts. His primary expenses are very much on needs 👍 that $1,500 extra is key!
@@itsRomainFaure I heard him mention he was going to spend all the money he had on christmas. So i'd say its this season he puts all his money to, and he always has. Thats Im sure a huge amount of his year's flexible amount. the 1500 will be life changing for him and I'm glad
@@TheahLil yes exactly! Also I want to thank you mate for being loyal to the channel it’s always nice to read your comments and thoughts I appreciate you engage in 😁
thanks :) do you remember our other convo? I know you have a ton of them. I actually sent you an email a while back to tell you some more stuff I didnt want to post on youtube, but not sure if I it made your radar

Your channel and compassionate advice will help a lot of people. Thank you so much❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the kind comment and donation ! Really kind of you ☺️
🙏🏼💜💜💜
This was such a great episode, very philosophical especially the ending.
Your guests are great usual. I also love Romain's style of interviewing. Great job! I hope there is a way to tweak the YT algorithm to make this channel viral.
Thank you so much, I am hoping too :)
Ah. I see Nancy Williams, a trusted financial advisor has finally made her way over to the channel
🤣
Right I will soon delete those … 😅
J'adore ce que tu fais! Tu as de très bonnes notions financières et c'est bien de voir que tu peux connecter avec les émotions des autres pour leurs offrir les meilleurs conseils, c'est génial Romain!
Merci bien :)
This man is so sweet and well-intentioned, but generous literally to a fault! Is toxic generosity a thing? 😅 I wish him nothing but the best, but his precarious situation makes me so nervous. I hope he cuts back on the presents for his family because that's really not the spirit of the holiday. I'm sure his family would love to just spend some quality time with him as a gift and would take comfort in knowing he was a little more financially stable. ❤
Lovely comment! Thank you
Also I wanted to let you know that we were able to collect $1000 of donations for him during the holiday period so hopefully that helped out :)
Your an Awesome Santa 🎅
Is he the real one? I felt this way interviewing him haha
I have been binging your videos because aside from financial lessons I got to learn a lot of things from the guests! Thankyou and keep inviting different variations of guests!
However 1 question since I am not from the US. How does health insurence work because you seem to rarely ask about that. Is there any governmental insurance?
Sorry for the late reply, thank you for reaching out! Health insurance is generally provided by the employer, there is government insurance (such as Obamacare) for example but most of the part it is to the responsibility of each to have their own medical insurance! And US Medical insurance can be very expensive!
Santa could do Christmas in July service.
@dm3988 Christmas in July ~ thank you for the thought. Merriest of Holidays to YOU!
We all lose our illusion of independence as the health goes.
Wow … powerful
I learned when I retired how much money many retired people live on. One lived on $1200 a month and another $1300 a month. Many would think you could not be happy. That is far from the truth. One is doing a dog rescue. She quilts and enjoys life! I help keep her sidewalk clean but with low income she demands to pay.
I have been fortunate to have saved in a 401k to have extra money. The crazy thing is retiring early I spend only 75% of the SS check!
Well done.
Santa is from seattle?? I’m in seattle!
You should go check him out haha :)
It doesn't matter, John. Get a VA counselor and take all of your medical records with you.
Christmas is not the time for giving gifts, its for being with family. Folk need to get this out of there heads..
His attitude changes when it comes to getting a job. Lol people crack me up. Excuses excuses. 😂😂😂😂😂
My parents used to tell us to write our letters to Santa and post them via the fireplace😂
Lovely!
Sweet man. He needs to get on a list for eventual senior low income housing if he can no longer live in his current boat life scenario. He would qualify.
Congrats! You have gotten big enough that you are getting a bunch of spam bot comments promoting “crypto financial advisors”
Hahaha 😂
❤
❤❤
Toys for tots or another similar organization should work with this Santa to get presents to kids who need them.
Good points ! Thank you
I live in a costly area... His grocery budget is insanity. There's all sorts of discounts stores in America. No reason if there is a food bank.
For me its $300 a month MAX. Yeah that means eating out is almost out of the window. Coffee is at home if I have any.
Have almost no social life. Thank god with my situation.
I encourage you to continue developing your social life :) Well done managing your budget.
Moral of the Story. If Santa can do it so can you, IE live a minimal lifestyle in times of crisis or very limited cash flow
He doesn’t understand the ss for his spouse if he dies is incorrect. She’s gonna be in for a surprised and disappointed.
😞😞😞..Romain should do a go fund me to help santa,he need us....!...😢😢😢..!
We did, check out the update at the end of the video :) and we reached our goal of $1000 ♥️
Why not request that (vetted) nursing home residents help respond to the letters?
Wow didn’t think about this but what an amazing idea !!! 10/10
He might want to try Asian (not Japanese although some are ok but others can be very expensive) and Mexican grocery stores - the produce is good quality and cheap. You can get a whole fried fish for like $7 (they will fry it for you, you pick it out)
Thanks for sharing!
He is very sweet. Do the charity Santa thing but also do some corporate events. I wouldn’t be bothered if he was living alone and covering his own bills but his partner is keeping him afloat. Get some real gigs to help her at the very least.
Good points !
How does this video have 6k views? This is magical. Sharing w/ everyone.

And now they pulled the rug out and you can only take either or of a spouses or your own as of this year.
Whoops, Social Security is what Im talking about
He will soon qualify for the full benefits!
Why does he not apply for Ssdi or unemployment when he is not working as Santa?
He mentioned not being able to qualify for either at this point. I was curious too
@@itsRomainFaure & @kellytoukatly4318 Thank you for your question - I have applied, after my stroke in 2016 - and was denied, and appealed and denied ~ I was told that I was able to make substantial income, which the letter referred to minimum wage and part time hours. I was very frustrated with the system, my partner (yes my wife) was able to sustain us financially, though I should have continued to appeal, I stopped. Since my heart attacks, I have reapplied for SSDI, and currently waiting to hear back from another appeal. it is a very long and tedious paperwork process and waiting and waiting.
Are you sure he’s 61? … I’m thinking 75 or 80.
61 correct.
I wonder if he tried applying for SS disability. With his health challenges, I would think that he’d qualify.
Yes and he does get it :)
Wonder if Santa applied for SSDI may be eligible with his health issues. He would be eligble for food assistance as well
He did and he has food assistance as well yes !
Almost anyone can get food assistance in u.s but its usually never quite enough for a healthy diet( fruit, veggies etc). Some seniors get $30 a month even less its a damn shame.
Did you mention disability benefits?. He had 4 heart attacks he should be able to receive some sort of disability benefits.
He does 👌
