I worked on 59th Street and 5th Avenue I went opening night and practically every night afterwards, it was a fantasy music scene like living in a live movie set , I miss those days
Yeah like Le Mirano in Belgium where a clandestine pedophile blackmail operation allegedly took place in the 1980s. Ol’ Roy Cohn might know a thing or two about that on the American side.
Gary Mortimer I wonder when Netflix can and will also show Studio One, Forever. That was after all the disco that was so successful, and when the people from New York saw that, they went back and opened Studio 54.
Went to the fake 54 in Vegas. Well it wasn’t the real thing but the closest I’ll ever get to it. But let me say it was the most amazing night! the place was very similar to the photos I’ve seen and in books and on tv. I’ve always wanted to go again but unfortunately it’s now closed. The little piece of 54 I had is still memorable. I can’t wait to see this movie!!!
james h Knight Steve Rubell said he liked to call the mix of ppl a tossed salad& he really had a great buisiness sense on just right combination of people. Not only famous people but like he said the nights where there was no big theme party were the nights people would pay good money to see: Michael Jackson dancing with Liza, a McDonalds worker w Calvin Klien. There was no ism’s. No ageism, sexisms or racisms. There will never be a place like this again.✌🏾💜
The first Club that became a international myth and magnetic for people even when almost no one has made it in. A good door is hard door. „Not tonight!“ Known by hundreds of millions. Visited by a few thousand. Blueprint for every club that wants to be special and cool. Cheap booze, top ten music and a door everybody pass never create a special night without conflicts and great memories. And such locations always come and go because People simply stay away when time pass by.
I was too young to go to 54, but made sure I hit every club in the 90s. Limelight, Palladium, Roxy, Club USA, Twilo, Club Expo, Tunnel, Sound Factory. You name the club, I was there. Every weekend for 3 or 4 years! Friday and Saturday night. Drag queens and celebrities and drinking and drugs, oh my. lol

In esclusiva su Raiplay, il film documentario del 2018 che racconta l'epopea dello Studio 54, discoteca di New York aperta nel 1977 da due giovani imprenditori, Ian Schrager e Steve Rubell.
It's extremely disappointing not being able to buy this being in the U.S.A. Why is this only available on the UK Itunes (especially when Studio 54 WAS a club in the USA)? Why not offer it on USA Itunes as well? I've tried to purchase on all of the recommended sites on the website - Itunes, Amazon, Google. None of them work without a U.K. address. Very frustrating.
Studio 54 was open to all genders and yet if you're fat, ugly, or odd looking, you can't get in. You have to fit in the White fit male profile and the woman has to be hot. i wonder if they mention that in the movie.
That’s not quite true, they wouldn’t let people in that would break what made it special, maybe homophobes, sexists and racists. Maybe they felt the juice heads might be judgemental
ha ha! bro, i heard about that place from my parents who grew up in this era. i have family all over the east side but i grew up in hollister! by the time i was of age we were hitting club bodyshop, club miami, and toons, lol..
studio was the place to go in the disco era I was only 13 when it was at its peak wish I would have been older to go interesting to see actual documentary instead of movie played by characters
It was interesting to hear from the two original creators of Studio 54. I couldn't tell if their level of energy, talent, ambition and greed made them great but terrible humans like one hears the Hollywood studio moguls were. Ian talks more like a reformed mobster than a hospitality titan. Well done documentary that presents everything shallow, decadent and despised about late 70's pop culture. As for the music itself, Punk and New Wave came along just at the right time to rescue us from Disco hell.
Dogwoof I just followed your instructions and it shows me a message “there are no showings within 50 miles of hour location”. I don’t understand why they can’t just make it available for purchase in U.S. ITunes. Currently it is only available in U.K. iTunes, which US. Residents can not access. I think you’re severely limiting potential sales by not making this available to U.S. consumers. It’s baffling to me why this is so difficult.
We don't have any information about the home entertainment release. You can contact Zeitgeist Films to find out when the film will be released on iTunes.
Went there for my 25th birthday and got in! Pretty fabulous and wild; I'll never forget that night.
@Michael Dunn - And proud of it!
@Michael Dunn Did you ever go in?
You lucky bastard.
What year was your 25th birthday ? I would love to hear a storytime ! 😊

"A haven for inclusion and acceptance"...WTF? Tell that to all the people they didn't let in.
But they did let a mix of people in. It wasn't all famous, beautiful people. The mix of people is what made it so interesting.
