This deserves way more views and likes. Id like to see a more in depth tour of the truck.
I swear extended cabs on the 88-98 look sooooo much better than the regular cabs to me it’s 2 different trucks
I have the extended. I love it.
Extended cabs are so much better then crew but some day I will I will get a extended cab 6.5 and swap a duramax in it
u missed 2 more years theres a 1999 and a 2000 obs
@@temper734 the 1999/2000 was for the 3/4 and 1 tons only... so y'all both right
Definitely, regular cab long bed jacked up a bit looks good though as long as wheels and tires are right
Excellent Job you two!! First time seein this dream come true which has been mine since the end of my 5.7's life.. IT'S GONNA HAPPEN NOW!! Thank You!! Chevy Forever!!
Best Chevy truck body style with the best Chevy engine. Good job guys!!! Wish I had a brother to do this with
My DREAM truck! Ever since I've bought my 98 k2500 I've wanted to do a lly or lbz swap! I want to do a 4 door long bed swap! Super jealous! Love the truck
The GM Man do u want a 99 crew cab long bed dually ? For the swap ?
Beyond cool! Earlier this year I sold my mint 98obs k1500 to upgrade to a 06 lbz Duramax. This thing is dream truck material nice work!!
LOVE IT.....WALK AROUND VID OF THIS TRUCK IS NEEDED
My favorite body style and my favorite motor in 1 truck well this just changed the whole direction of my project truck
This is great my shop did this with a 03 lb7 in my 98 k1500 3in lift and 36in tires almost 10yrs ago
Such a clean build, awesome job.
They did a great job!
I LOVE THIS. imma do this to my OBS suburban one day
Hell yeah! Congrats on getting her done!
Beautiful truck! It's projects like this that make America 🇺🇸 GREAT!!!
That is definitely a sweet looking ride man nice job guys
I have wanted to do this since I was 16 and had a ‘96. Glad someone finally did it. Looks amazing!
Matt Ryan same I bought a 95 once mine blows I’m planning on doing the same
Planning to run a lml in my 99 k3500 cclb dually
Awsome truck loving the color
Unreal. Well done fellas
PLEASE make another video about this truck!
Can y'all make another video of the interior as far as what y'all had to change and more info on what all it really takes to do this swap please
That's so sick! Tuck those filters and fass up closer to the frame.
Very cool swap. Love it. 🙌🏻
Two car shed! Same color scheme as the burban I t-boned a trailer into. Good times
👊👊
Haha bad ass. I own both a 98 that i grew up in (340k original miles, like a rock), and an LBZ 3/4 ton (90kmiles) and have been having the same crazy thought of possibly doing a swap !!
I love the story of you talking about your dad having a 98 chavy truck I was about 8 years old when I saw my uncle Jim and ant marry Joe truck k1500 step side bed that when I knew that my dream truck now I got one I keeping it forever 92 Chevy Z71 off-road when I bought it. It have all ready have 4 inch lift kit the rims have 17 inch rims tires is 285 70R17 vary good shape I ever seen. Soon or later I will upgrade it all the way like the truck just came out the factory
Nice job boys truck looks and sounds great
In God we trust, love it!!! Yeah you couldn't have done better. A 6" lift would definitely set it off though!! I'm a Gasser fan myself but still very jealous!!
Obs is my favorite Silverado of all time nd lbz is my favorite duramax you made such a gorgeous truck I grew up around my dads 1991. I want a 98 with 350 bored and stroked and bigger cam USAF logo on the tail gate to honor him. I would love to do a duramax swap on it but I wouldn't be able to afford that lol
It’s beautiful. If you ever feel the need to do another. I have a 96 Tahoe that has the 6.5 Detroit in it right now. Was thinking of getting something like that done.
🙌🙌
My mistake he did say lb7 at the end tho 🤷♂️
Nice job guys
Looking to do the same with my 2005 chevy! Really wondering how it’s all going to fit.
How was the wiring harness made and configured if I may ask? Or was it purchased ?
Did the trans tunnel have to be modified? I would like to do a duramax and Allison swap into a 95-98 regular cab long box 2wd for fuel economy reasons. Wish they would show the interior I was thinking I'd use the steering column and cluster from my donor truck.
our GM service rep drove a 98 k2500 into the dealership with a duramax and allison trans to show off what was coming out in 2000 so GM did it first
Derrick Moyer that is a super cool story!
That would be cool to find that original truck
did you have to move the transmission mount and shorten the driveshaft i am looking at doing a 1999 4x4 dually from 6.5 to duramax LBX
cool project
Beautiful
Ok now I gotta find the build video of this, or the build thread on one of the forums.
We aren't sure if they documented the build anywhere, but it's definitely possible!
i seen that truck in person in a shoping center parking lot i think it looks like the same truck but the one i seen said money pit on the windshield
Did you have to add metal to the frame for the swap to make the frame stronger
I have a 1994 K1500 that came with a 6.5 turbo, I’ve been thinking about this very same project
I was just given my grandpa 95 6.5 turbodiesel and was thinking of swapping out the 6.5 for a Duramax any tips
Love it
Same here, it's such a cool build! Thank you 👊
I have so many questions! Amazing work! Looking to do this in my 93 2wd and I keep reading clearance is an issue. I don’t want a cowl hood and looking at yours it looks like it all clears with ease! Did you make mounts or buy the adapters? What about trans mounting? It looks like you guys did amazing work! Hopefully you guys post more on it.
Great questions! Unfortunately, this was a customer truck so we don't have many details on it. Sorry about that!
Did you have to add to the frame to swap in the duramax
Two dislikes from two Ford owners hating!😏
For those saying it's a body lift its a 2500/3500 frame from the 2006 chassis
No its not
Do you think that same swap could be done on a 86 Chevrolet Caprice?
How did you make the motor mounts work
I'm trying a swap with a 2012 lml and need some insiders get back with me!
Great diesel truck.
Sweet
What about the computer, did you swap that too?
I want to dmax swap my k3500, how much of a pain is it gonna be?
Wow, what a beautiful job you guys did. How did you get the gauges to work?
There should be a lot more info on their youtube channel, or other social media pages on the build!
What size are the rims and tires ?
I have a 1997 GMC Sierra K1500 what size Duramax motor can I put in and what one would be a good one to run?
Great question, and these guys put in the 6.6L Duramax like you'd find in a HD pickup!
I assume the frame can handle the HP/torque.
I wanna know if they use the existing structure of the old truck and modified from their, Or did they throw their old body on to the DuraMax chassis?
did u watch the video? they were talking about how they had to stuff all of the duramax components into the engine bay. clearly an engine swap......duh
They used the duramax frame, dash etc. Mostly a body swap. They had a difficult time fitting the cooling stack behind that 98 chevy grill
@@devinprescott4090 you didn't listen very well. They were trying to fit everything into the body and the engine bay. Also look at the video at the end you can clearly see that it's not the obs frame. It was more of a body swap still cool
I am buying a 96 k3500 crew cab 4x4 6.5l turbo diesel. I was thinking about swapping it with a 6.6 duramax turbo lbz with the Allison transmission but I'm not sure what the price tag would be to do that
Thank you so much for reaching out Robert. That is a great question, and a swap would be something we would suggest getting quoted at your local diesel shop.
This way as well if you needed something done, or adjustments down the road you would be able to take it there, and they will know the build.
Again thank you for reaching out, and we hope that swap goes well!
I wanana do my truck like this
That's badass I have a 98 that I wanted to put an LBZ into. I am just worried about the weight of the engine and what could I do to compensate for it
Pretty common on 4wd to crank the torsion bars to compensate for the weight
getting rid of my 96 k1500 custom truck for a 99 k3500....gna definitely look into this as we'll be hauling a travel trailer for awhile...what color is the interior?
That's awesome! The interior of the truck is grey!
@@FASSFuelSystemshave a link to the full swap ?
I have a 97 k3500 with the 6.5 diesel. Was wondering what all i would need to duramax swap it.
detroit diesel97....everything
Like 10 grand
What did you have to do to the front end to support it!?
Heavier?
Do you guy offer a kit with motor mounts and stuff for this swap? If not, does anybody? I think a lot of folks would be interested. I have a 98 1 ton and would love to swap in a Duramax but go with Cummins due to cost
We definitely appreciate you asking! I do apologize as we only work with the fuel systems.
Can you pair a Allison with the 5.7??
You COULD. But you would lose tons of power from powertrain drag and it would feel sluggish. I thought about it did the research and since it is the same bellhousing pattern as a big block and 8.1 which had the Allison behind it in the pickups. I was gonna do it to my gen 6 big block suburban but there’s not much to gain for me.
When Chevrolet was testing the duramax that put it in one of those trucks
That is badsdd
Contemplating doing this to my wife's 99 burb
That would be awesome!
That body lift though
Fot real. Why cheep out there
@@bradycarroll6665 body lifts help with fitment in these projects
Roughly how much does the swap cost?
Since they completed this a few years ago, we would assume the cost has gone up quite a bit as everything has become more expensive.
And here I am alone, converting my Hummer H1 6.5 NA to a Duramax...
How is it going
Also is it 4x4 or 2wd
james Gardner the c/k is basically the indicator for the older ones, c’s being 2wd k’s being 4x4
Lb7 don't have a variable vain turbo
How can I get ahold of these guys?? I have many questions to ask
Unfortunately, we don't have their contact information available. Sorry about that!
Do you guys have a contact number i can call. I have a 2014 silverado 1500 that i am currently looking to do a duramax swap. Don’t wanna get rid of the truck because i love the truck.
Welp! I know what I'm doing this year
🙌🙌
Does it have a body lift that's allot of frame
No sir, the frame just shows a lot.
Its cool but like
Why tf did you put it in a k1500 instead of a k3500
It's different which makes it unique. I dig it
Anyone in here know who the owners of this truck is?
Just remember it's still a 1500 so don't overload it.
That chassis is allot weaker then a true 1 ton
Dump all that time and money into a nice truck like that and then put body lift on it like wtf?
They probably had to do the body lift because of the engine or transmission. I know the Allison is a bigger trans then the 4l80e
Body lift bc that Allison Trans is huge compared to a 60e or 80e. Either body lift or cut the floor apart.
Jordan Pate it doesn’t look too bad
I had to cut a hole for the Allison in my GMT400 dually
A Suspension lift would hide the body visibility, not literally but it would draw your attention away from it
Spent all that money to have two goofy fuel filters hanging below the frame and body 🤦🏻♂️
The muuusicc suckssss
This truck is what made me want to build one. Do you have a body lift on it?
We believe it has a leveling kit, and upgraded suspension to handle the weight of the diesel.
@FASS Diesel Fuel Systems thankyou. I'm just about done with my 1991 k2500 with LLy and ZF6 swap and ofcourse it has a Titanium 165 feeding it because I want nothing but the best
@@JoeJoe-bz9nb That's awesome man! The 6-speed will make that truck a ton of fun!
