Hyper-focus on one useless task for hours, then get burned out and completely forget about it
For real 🤦🏽♀️
Real
And the worst part is hyper-focus is also a sign of damaged frontal lobes
@@W1HURI Really?? I am staring at one page from 2 hours and waiting to get the peak State of anxiety so that I will go on into hyperfocus mode. I thought that's the only good part about so I should use it.
oh so real
I get so much done in that time. The dophamine hits, and it hits hard, then i feel so good about completing everything forgetting that something was cooking
I have to stand in kitchen if I’m cooking something that may burn. 😂
I learnt this a few times too many.
I also need to name my alarms 😂 slow cooker alarm , oven alarm
Washer alarm and not just turn it off 😅😅
Oof yes, put food in, forget, go and start repotting plants
I literally did this today…
I thought everyone did it this way. Always feel great having achieved so much but then realise I'm running late.
OMG this is me. I forgot to do the thing I meant to do. :( BUT I got so much other stuff done in the process! :D
The running late part is so real, because then I’m convincing myself ah just one more minute isn’t that bad. Aw 10 minutes is fine. 30 is normal!
OHMYGODSTOOOOOOOPPPPP!!!!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 I feel personally attacked by this extremely accurate video of my life 🤣🤣🤣 Bravo!! 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
Fr I never have time but in that 15 minutes I manage to be doing everything I ever wanted.
And you better get it done because after the 15 min you need a 48 hours break
@kevenbouchard7973 spott on 😂
@@kevenbouchard7973 True
@@kevenbouchard7973so true. I was starting at my one slide for 2 hours waiting for my brain to start processing. Then study for some time and then took the rest for rest of the day because of burnout. It's my life. I am accepting it.
Exactly this- cannot wait so long so you do anything to pass the time and finally you find something that devours you completely and you forget about what you were waiting for...
When multitask go bad .
My dear husband is so gracious. He hardly complains, even with the burnt food, lol!
"Honey, it's not burned, it's caramelized"
Exactly what you said. That's why I have to use the oven timer when I'm using the oven, so I can't forget I'm cooking.
This is so me!!! I get so much of nothing done and can't keep track of time if I don't use a timer. Do you get anxious when there's a mess? Do you constantly check and recheck ? I guess I have ocd too. You are really silly and fun to watch! It's amazing how our gift allows us to get so much done. The race with no finish line. I really appreciate you sharing your journey. It helps to know I'm not running this marathon alone!
A few days ago I learned from the practitioner who finally diagnosed me with ADHD after years of misdiagnosis from others, that apparently ocd type behaviors is very much in the territory of people with ADHD. Common co-symptom. Skin picking is also an ocd type behavior, if any yall struggle with that too.
Isn't the "OCD" symptom in ADHD of checking and re-checking just a result of us forgetting do much shit 😅😅 I'm pretty sure that's why I'm so neurotic about checking that I locked the door etc, because if i dont pay extreme attention while dping these things, I'll forget if i actually did it or not 🙃 ive left my keys IN the door countless times..
I have OCPD (obsessive compulsive personality disorder)- which is what you described. OCD is where you have a compulsion to perform rituals. I’m just VERY anal retentive 😂
@@googleuser25that’s not OCD. That’s just being neurotic. And yes that goes along with adhd for sure!
All I can think about is that one time I tried to shower and left the beans on the stove and the water ran out. The whole house smelled for days after, even all our clothes in closets and dressers. Omg I was so mad. LOL
I’ve done that with oatmeal! 🫣😂
I did it recently. Boiling chicken for my dogs, went outside to feed a cat and saw two loose dogs run by, caught the dogs and knocked on doors until I found the owner, spoke to a few neighbors on the way home...walked in my house and my whole house was filled with smoke. Could barely see my white dog staring at me at the door. Traumatized me. Sorry, run on sentence 😂
🙋🏻♀️ been there too many times with too many foods. My pots and pans are forever scarred 😂 🙃
I'm so glad i found your channel. I feel so seen...but in a good way
Yes. It made me realize I might be a member of this Tribe and I now have a referral for testing.
Scary! You're showing me how I often am at home. 😂
Love the Handel's Messiah score!
Its Verdi, not Handel.
what works even better for me is a visible tool. like once I found a huge hourglass with bright orange sand in it. it took 45 minutes for the sand to run through and whenever I had no motivation to clean my flat, I just had to turn the hourglass and was instantly trying to finish that task in time
Im laughing so hard.. the times I forgot about my food….
focus here - focus there ... now you've got nothing to eat 😬
Why is each of these so accurate. Some I didn’t even know I was doing.
I’ve burned so many things even with the timer on because I’d leave the room and start cleaning the bathroom and wouldn’t hear the timer. I have learned not to go on to another job until I’ve finished the one I’d started with or nothing would get finished 😂
This is not even funny how much this is true for me. And now that I've seen you post these videos.. I laugh at myself when I do it.. only to catch myself during it.. and realizing how much I can get done in the matter of a minute lol
I’m the opposite. Queen of do nothing.
his point is that he would procrastinate, but by creating artificial urgency and time limits can motivates himself
Let me guess, you chose to live in a modern attic flat because you enjoy the absence of people making noise upstairs.
Sooo spot on! Sending this to spouse. Now he know
Your videos are the BEST ❤
Just the past year, I’ve been on a healing journey and life changing journey…I found that setting my timer, reminders, sticky notes, notes app, and calendar really helps, but it took me time to get on track with it ALL. ❤
Putting a playlist on for laundry or dishes and organizing mini tasks by song duration
Lesson learned: don't put noodles in the oven
I burned one a pizza and remembered it because ut came pizza commercial on tv 😂
Hits hard when you also have music in your ears while doing all of this
I love cleaning the kitchen and living room while waiting for my food to finish
I switched to electric kettles years ago because I kept burning holes on kettles when I used the stove. I can relate so much, frustrates my family a lot, too, not that I mean to forget things.
Well, i bought an electric kettle. But it's still in the package. But I keep eyeing it for reason, questioning whether I need it (l do). What's up with that?
Done this today my wife always tells me dont know how you do it so fast.
For me its usually hard boiled eggs. Water evaporates and then the eggs blow to the ceiling like a gunshot(of course that triggers a panic episode) and my ceiling looks like an old 70’s popcorn ceiling made of egg bits. So im left with a mess to clean up and no egg salad to eat!
This pisses me off more than any other wonky out of place behavior I do. When I need to eat, I need to eat and this one self sabotage irks me to no end.😂😂
Yup, that's exactly how I do things 😂 Great minds 'do' alike! Much love from Italy 🙏🏻
For me it's the bathtub challenge; start it then swap laundry, get distracted and run back upstairs to only cold left running into the tub... hot bath time ruined!
Oven that turns itself off after you set a timer
You’re welcome
I thought it'd be neat to have one, but I'd just forget about the food and find it a day or two later when it started to smell - or I went to cook something else.
That's what I have. It's a medium-sized oven that turns off by itself and an electric kettle that turns off the moment the water is ready. It has saved me so much time and burned food. 😂 Despite the fact, I have a countdown clock, it's never enough time for everything.
I’ve found that listening to music, a podcast or audio book distracts me just enough so my mind can stay focused on getting ready for work in the morning. Otherwise I get distracted easily and start cleaning the kitchen or organizing something. 😂 Used to be late everywhere!
When many task gets oh squirrels diverted.
I feel so exposed. No amount of alarms are enough once we get completely distracted. Sigh. Just got my referral for ADHD testing this week. Maybe we can catch it early. 😅 I'm "only" 69. Sigh...
The gasp I gasped seeing him put on headphones I'm like "noooooo don't do it bro!!"
Lol!!!! SO TRUE!! Many a burnt vessel… now I just eat fruits!
OMG THIS IS SO ACCURATE!
Yup happened way too many time so now i have to stay there and stare at it but then sometimes i still forget
This is so hilarious to watch yet so very identifiable!
I have literally done this play-by-play😂
Everyday life. And actually as much as I enjoy the process, at the end comes the regret of wasting time after getting tired. Endless loop 😶
yes, every single time
My entire life in a nut shell. Always racing some clock and dont let somebody throw off my timing. Awe man 😩🤣
I was laughing at the "check the minutes" thing. 😂😂😂😂
I have only truly burnt things about 3 times in my 56 years.
Mostly because the timer wasn't set correctly..... and that one time when I was 12 & left pancakes on the griddle while I ran up the street to tell my friend that a cute boy was helping my dad in the yard.
I got swats. 🤦♀️
I dont own a microwave. I did once for a year and...my house was spotless!
I'm particularly fond of setti the oven to turn itself off... 😆
I burned an entire log of house made sausage at work because while it was in the oven(10 mins) I started the mashed potatoes, finished brown butter cream sauce, cut the napa, checked timer (6 mins left), ate breakfast, and checked in product. When I smelled burnt sausage I knew i fucked up and my 10 minutes was more like 20. 🤣
You are the male version of me. It is not easy to live like this, but it is not impossible.
ADHD made my boy dirty
I started this video saying "if that food doesn't burn, I'm unsubscribing." 😂 I literally just did this four days ago... Recipe said to cook the chicken two hours, so naturally, I went and ADHD'ed for what I thought was two hours and came back to a black gelatinous mess stuck in the pan (it'd been five hours). 🙄
Beating time as a person with ADHD is hard
Yep, setting an alarm to remind yourself and shutting it off forgetting why you set it. 😑 If you make a notification, you have to label it!
Haha so me, timer useless, burning smell is my only alert !
My dog is really good at letting me know when something concerning is going on with the food. Dogs are very helpful that way - he NEVER forgets about the food!
Yep lose a lot of food that way.
The truth.
Two steps forward one step back, adhd dance. 😂
Every day routine
That's why I have 3 different timers, apart from my phone timer😅
Always. I never bake. Too many smoke alarms have trained me not to.
Every single day😢
This is me..I also warm up food and forget about it. Realize, go get it and it's cold so I warm it up again, start doing something else, forget about it and by the third time it's ruined and I'm building a shelving unit while trying to code 😩😩🤣
I do that but i get distracted looking at the timer
This happened to me while watching this short.
When he is dancing the oven is already open lol😊
The reason why the other side of my grilled cheese is always charred 😂
I will never understand why it is i work so much better under a crunch. Chores or anything. At work i have to be in a fast paced job or i just suffer in work. But I'm a fast paced environment i thrive so well
I burned my bagel again this morning. Did I change the setting for tomorrow? No. Will I go change it now? No. Will I change it tomorrow morning...I'll get back to you.
Will I get back to you? No
Chuckles. Every morning I switch on the kettle, unload & reload the dishwasher before it finishes boiling. I have to do this pattern of behaviour 😂
I’ve burnt so much oatmeal in the morning! Electric stove takes time to heat up. Just go off thinking I’ll be back in a min to check . Nope!
Yup! Been there, done that...🤦🏿♂️
Seriously! I really was great at multitasking......about 20 yrs ago 🤔😞
Every single time
My concept of time is far gone, it still thinks were in March 😂 seriously though that is some impressive speed productivity! I wish, im in task paralysis Stage
How funny to see me on the big screen😂
Easteregg! When You were listening to the music the oven is opened in the Background 😅... I Love that Video
Oh my god, this THIS is me. My husband totally doesn't understand.
The more I come across your shorts the more I realize that your ADHD is not the same as my ADHD except for some of the subtitles you put on videos
It's honestly great to see different forms of it are being represented since it's definitely not a one size fits all diagnosis from what I've seen
😂😂😂😂 How am I only just finding this guy now?! So accurate
My brain: I would even forget that I've set an alarm after the completion of 1st task. Do something totally unrelated and eating anything that I watch.
Forgetfulness to any task and instructions to the core..
Micorwave oven with a timer is the best
I couldn't live with out it!
ahh real adhd youd be off doing something else, then 4 hours later your food just carbon.
This is why im not allowed to cook pizza or sausages in my house.
Oh yeah. But I do better at my boyfriend’s place. He’s OCD and a hoarder. Finds things to do with junk.
Empty boxes everywhere. Mail from decades ago. Crazy. 🤪 I just want to cut loose. HOWEVER- Moving after an unexpected divorce was traumatic and stressful. Much was auctioned off and losses of people too in process. Took ME a decade to sort papers etc. as painful memories😢Do understand, so trying to be patient. Lost his Dad in teens, Mom at 30. Unwanted divorce too, wife n 3 younger children moved out of state. Many things left the same in this old house 🏠. God is good when life gets hard. We went to high school together. Reconnected at Fall class reunion. Thank you Lord….
Recently i put toast in the toaster i literally forgot i put it in a few seconds after, only remembered about it when it popped up 🤣😅
this was me two days in a row this week! 😅
I csll this good time management... until the end. Lol
I recently started filling a pan with water to boil noodles and tried to put produce in the fridge before it was filled. I put the produce away, turned around, and said "What the HELL is that sound??🤔" Then, I saw the pan overflowing. How does a person forget something THAT quickly? 😐 So frustrating. 🤦🏼♀️
Feels like playing my life video
So youre telling me that i cannot do anything in 7 hours but i can take a shower, brush my teeth, organize my room, water all the plants, dust and fold the laundry in 25 minutes while my savory cupcakes are in the oven?
DAMN HOW ACCURATE!
Totaly me! Always burning my meals.
Can I ask where you got your couch from? I've been looking for one like that🥺
Have to name my timers and still might burn stuff!
So I'm learning:
1. Buy ovens with timers that turn themselves off when time is up ✅️
2. Buy an induction pan with good setting options and a timer that turns off when time's up ✅️
3. Buy a rice cooker (they automatically go from cook mode to keep warm mode when done) ✅️ (oh, wait that was another video).
Spot on!!!
I’m doing that now actually!!!
