re: bridgerton i love the show ESPECIALLY season 2. specifically season 2. particularly season 2. season 1 is still good until the SA that happens which sours the whole thing for me. but season 2. season 2.
Agree! Season 2 was EVERYTHING for me. Benedict’s book is my favorite though. 😍
Agreed and actually book 2 in the series is the best. Book 1 has the scene you mentioned that is abhorrent however book 2 and Season 2 is enemies to lovers and they are two characters who are an equal match for each other in every way. *chefs kiss*
The show is better due to the diverse casting and slight changes to the story that in my opinion made the story better
Where The Crawdads Sing! I just CANNOT get over how beautifully the author is able to depict nature. The end (last like 25 pages) was a little *meh* for me after how fulfilled the rest of the book was for me, but still gave it a 5/5!
I loved that book last year! My favorite part was how the author portrayed solitude, a 5/5 for me too :)
My best book of the month was “East of Eden” by John Steinbeck - OMFG!
My most delightful book of the month was “Book Lovers” by Emily Henry - I devoured it too!
And my biggest surprise was “Don Quixote” - by Miguel de Cervantes - So funny, but so tragic. It kind of made me feel bad for laughing out loud at some moments, since a mental illness is involved.
@@molliee5183 Do it, please! You won’t regret it. The writing is so beautiful. A masterpiece in my humble opinion.
I love all of John Steinbeck's books, my favorite is The grapes of wrath.
@@deidrediane9594 Thanks so much for the tip. I’m going to add this one to my TBR. I’m in love with his writing and can’t believe I have never tried his books before. Shame on me!
I just ordered book lovers Glad to hear everyone likes it I can’t wait to read it
@@tracy_cakkes It’s so good! The perfect summer read.
I am SO PUMPED for this video!! The way you describe things is chefs kiss 🤌
Just honestly so obsessed with your sense of humor, truly makes me laugh out loud. My little sister shared your channel with me a while ago, and the clip that sold me was you talking about August from Beach Read… and I was like YUP IM IN!! Have loved your videos ever since! 🧡😊
I definitely recommend listening to Viola Davis’s memoir on audio! Listening to her tell her own story was SO powerful!
I hope youre gonna LOVE piranesi. I read it this year in february and it became my new favorite book. Its confusing to get into but its so rewarding when you finish it. I loved the magical realism of it and the writing
I work in a secondary school as a maths teacher. Your videos got me back into reading about a year ago. And now I read out loud to my tutor group of SEN students and have got them all interested in reading! We’ve read six books together since September and some of my students had never finished a book before and are now on their second or third independent read. I wanted to leave a comment so that you could see some of the positive impact your actions have :D thank you!
my biggest surprise this month was “conversations with friends” by sally rooney. i decided to read it before i watched the tv show. i still haven’t made up my mind about this book, but i couldn’t put it down. i was so intrigued by the narrator’s thought process and behavior + the interactions between the characters. i loved that it sparked actual conversations between me and my own friends as i was reading. nonetheless, i’m not sure what’s my opinion on it (LMAO).
i’m currently reading this too and i feel the exact same way!
Agreed, I've been reading Tropic of Cancer except I like to pretend the character Van Norden is like a Bailey Jay, mite write my own book think I'll call it "Beyond the Valley of Penises"
I haven't been reading that much, so listening you talk about books always motivates me a little bit!!❤
For the month of May I read "The Girl with the dragon tattoo, and currently reading "The girl who played with fire." I am really enjoying this series.
I read "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" this month as well and I really liked it. I'm planning to read the second one soon.
@@adumbass1548
There is also a third, The girl who played in the hornet's nest. I just ordered today 😃.
@@deidrediane9594 We're both roped in this series and I don't know if it's funny anymore.
I read the first 3. I enjoyed the second book the most…I think? It’s been a LONG time since I read them. I distinctly remember the ending of the second book being bonkers 😂
The spicy scenes in Book Lovers were surprisingly the best ever, like so well written and romantic without ick.
I haven't read a book in over a year, but your videos just bring me so much joy!
I love the 60’s-70’s Just Kids sounds right up my alley 😍
brings tears to my eyes to see how close you are to 200000!!!! you were my lil secret for a long time HAHAHWHA and I'm so happy so many people in the booktube community agree w me on how amazing you are 🤎
I didn’t think I could love Noelle more then she does a British accent 😂❤️🥰
i read „the last house on the needless street“ this month. i really enjoyed this book and was suprised by the twist at the end
Just Kids is such a good book! I read it almost 15 years ago, and still remember so many details!! I didn’t realize how much she expects you to know who she is talking about in the books, but I picked it up specifically wanting the behind the scenes of some of my favorite artists and musicians, so I had a different perspective.
I devoured Book Lovers and it's so good so glad you loved it too!!
The painting in the background is truly amazing :)
I had an amazing reading month! I read Yolk, Project Hail Mary, and Hamnet :)
I love that you read Yolk as I felt the exact same way about the story. I have been thinking about the book ever since I finished it and have been telling so many of my friends with sisters to brace themselves and read it.
Also just wanted to add that my boyfriend started watching your videos with me and even then we have different tastes, we get still amazing recommendations from you. When we find out you read a book that I’m either of us have read, we race to watch the video together to hear what you have to say :) thank you for being you!! ❤️
Since you're into memoirs i would recommend "This is going to hurt" . It's a doctor's memoir, super funny, but also heartbreaking. I think you'll love it!
loved this read!!
I got Yolk because of you when I saw the gorgeous over / hands on the pages from a book shopping video and I read it and loved it and have been waiting for you to read it. Knew you’d love it!
Hey Noelle!
My favourite (& biggest surprise) is Bernadine Evaristo's Girl, Woman, Other. It's soooo beautiful!
i definitely think you would like season 2, their chemistry is so palpable!!
biggest surprise this month is one i’m not finished with yet- dune! i tried to read it a few years ago and couldn’t get into it but for some reason this time around it’s clicking wayyy more for me and i’m actually surprisingly loving it 😳 i thought i wasn’t intellectual enough to get into it but having an audiobook AND a physical book at the same time has been helping me focus and not miss things lol
you perfectly described how i felt about just kids! loved the story, patti’s writing, but it was so painfully hard to read this book just because of all the names i didn’t know, events that i’ve never heard about. like the story isn’t boring, the writing isn’t THAT dense, but still it took me month to finish it. i even thought of dnfing it at some point😭
still recommending Moti on the Water for you, it’s a wedding romance so it ties in with your previous video 😁 it’s got island hopping so perfect for summer, also, food!!
In second this recommendation! The food 🤤 and Moti is hilarious to me.
I third this recommendation!!!!!!!
Loved the video and the acting!!! :D I totally agree with you on Bridgerton, I actually watched the first season and then decided to read the book before the second season came out and dear god that book was just so long!! I would recommend watching the show, it was much much better than the book, which is usually not the case, but even I won't continue with the books!
I just finished In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer and it was a very cute rom-com about a woman who gets laid off from her job, gets her dress stuck in the subway doors, and a handsome stranger literally saves her behind by giving her his jacket. Lots of over the top rom-com situations and I liked all the New York vibes. Fun, light read with a nice cast of characters. I really liked Anthony's book (second Bridgerton) and even though they changed a lot of his story in season two of the tv series, it is a lot of fun. And as always thank you Noelle for your wonderful videos! I always look forward to them.
I don’t usually jump on the bandwagon when it comes to what social media does. So I haven’t and probably never will read CoHo. I wasn’t planning on watching bridgerton. BUT my friend forced me to watch it, and you know what! 1st season, good! 2nd SEASON!!! Amazing, delicious. Kate and Anthony??!? Loved it
omg i love SO MUCH her accent, i literally would just sit all day and listen her talking (sorry for the bad english, not native tough)
True Biz and Part of Your World were my favorites from May. Sooo excited to dive into Book Lovers this month! 🥰
“Immediately has feelings in her nether regions” so funny 😂 love your monthly wrap ups Noelle!
Agreed, I've been reading Tropic of Cancer except I like to pretend the character Van Norden is like a Bailey Jay, mite write my own book think I'll call it "Beyond the Valley of Penises"
Just finished Just Kids. I am of that generation, so the artists mentioned did mean a lot to me. I agree with you on the way it was written. Certainly not like most memoirs I have read, and I read A LOT of them. Peaceable Kingdom is my all time favorite Patti Smith song. Give it a listen while her book is fresh in your mind!
New favorite romance of all time???? Now I gotta read itttt
You are one of the first people I’ve seen actually like Book Lovers! I’m super intrigued about how I’ll feel.
Your videos immediately make me smile! Best book in May for me was Part of Your World. I loved it! And I bought Sharks in the Time of Saviors for my flight to Hawaii next month! 😊
A book that surprised me and I really liked was The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin! I thought that something that was basically a sci-fi love letter to New York would be hard to relate to but Jemisin's writing is just so *chef kiss*. I found myself really rooting for the characters and feeling the affection she had for the unique bits of each borough.
Read Book Lovers in the month of May too and really loved it! That book got me hooked right from the beginning.
The Pattie Smith memoir sounds great. Noelle you should really give a listen to some 60s and 70s rock n roll. IMO the best music ever recorded by talent which we will never see the likes of again. So many wonderful songs and artist.
This month i finally got on the Taylor Jenkins reed train and didn’t expect to like the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo as much as i did. I’m usually not into historical vibes but i ended up flying through it and now wanna read more by TJR!
Daisy Jones and the Six is a master piece. Really recommend the audio book!
@@Freakingcurly I agree, the book is sooo good
My absolute favorite reads this month where act your age eve brown(which is one of my all time favorites now I love it so much 🥲) and the mothers ugh I loved all the quotes in the mothers it was written so beautifully
I loved Reprieve so much, and I have about 100 pages left of Patsy, and I’m loving it too
Also bridgerton season 2 is EVERYTHINGGG. The YEARNINGGG!!! You must watch
Wow, 12 books, that's amazing 👏 I can't decide whether Normal People or A Man Called Ove was my favourite this month... loved both of them 🥰
My absolute favorite this month was Book Lovers, it definitely became one of my favorite of all times!!! What a supreme book (like everything Emily Henry writes).
Favorite books this month were Dave Grohl’s memoir and Dial A for Aunties. Also really enjoyed Nghi Vo’s novellas!
A safety book!!!! Only book people understand the need for a safety book. Love it!
With Bridgerton, I found (and am finding) the books to be very middle of the road. The tv series though is quite stunning, I love the way they have adapted and modernised it. I particularly love the way they have used modern music.
SHOOK over Book Lovers beating out The Hating Game!!!
I am loving memoirs rn and I just finished ‘lust and wonder,’ by Augustine Burroughs and it’s genuinely one of the best, most life changing books I’ve ever read. I truly adore it
YESSS PIRANESI ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS EVER!
'that of the bible' is such a funny way to refer to pages of a book and looked accurate! i finally read rising strong by brene brown in may and appreciated some of the wisdom she had to share in the book about courage and getting real.
Please do more vlogs! Miss seeing more into your life and what you’re up to 🧡
About to start Book Lovers today on a plane ride!! Can't wait!!
agreed about colleen! which is why the only book i truly truly love is it ends with us. i felt for the characters deeply
Bridgerton the show was amazing! It’s a must watch! They do a better job with that scene you described in the show
You read Reprieve!!! I have gone back and forth on whether I should buy that book (I work at a bookstore and have been putting the book behind the register for myself, then putting it back out on the floor, then changing my mind and putting it behind the register again LOL), so it's cool to see that you've read it and get your thoughts. After your review, I am even more on the fence ahhhhhhh
Yolk🙌🏻🙌🏻 My favorite book of 2022 so far!
my favorite book and the one that suprides me this month was season of migration to the north I wasn't expecting to love it as mych as I did .
I read Song of Sorrow and State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury this month and I absolutely loved them. Drew me in wholly and completely and captured all of my attention. The kind of books where it’s all you think about until you pick it up again. 5/5 100% recommend!
Hey Noelle! Do give Bridgerton 2 Viscount who loved me a shot. It is my fav from the series. Season 2 is totally different from the show. And maybe you can do a video comparing your thoughts on the books and the show! Tropes- Enemies to lovers, bold female protagonist in hist romance, sibling energy, family bonding.
best book this month - the house in the cerulean sea. made me so damn happy and it was so wholesome
biggest surprise - salem’s lot. it was my first time reading stephen king and i enjoyed it much more than i thought i would!
I havent read salems lot, but i just read Needful Things by Stephen King and i loved it! The Stand is also very good
Ah The House In The Cerulean Sea is my ultimate comfort book, and the audiobook is great too. I love it so much, and I’m always happy when other people love it too!
Omg I’m so happy to hear that I’m not the only person who thought the twist in Verity was gonna be something completely different!! So disappointing, thanks for making me feel seen 🥺😂
You are so naturally funny lmao
My biggest surprise this month was The Paper Palace - I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did
I feel the same way you do about Book Lovers. I read it so quickly and it tops my list of favourite romances. It was the best book I read in May. Worst book was The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary.
my favourite May read was Young Mungo, was absolutely bawling by the end of it.
I’ve been binge-watching ur videos all over again and even reading some of ur recommendations lol 🙃🖤
I’m currently loving Exes with benefits Kind of has a Sweet Home Alabama (movie) vibe
love watching your videos as I cook! my unexpected favorite for May was The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green. really caught me off guard with its refreshing perspective and humor but also real emotion
I def recommend watching Bridgerton! I haven’t read the books, but season 2 has me wanting to read that one so far. I enjoyed season 1 for the cinematography and soundtrack; but season 2 really got me with the slow burn.
Absolutely loved Great Circle!!! I thought that one combined the past and present elements well. Also reread Song of Achilles and was left winded. Really solidified it as my fave
Favorite and most surprising this month was Vladimir by Julia May Jones. Loved the conversations around gender roles, relationships, and the ideas around women feeling responsible for their partner's actions.
my favorite books this month were disorientation (U SHOULD READ IT!!!), i kissed shara wheeler, and book lovers! i think i kissed shara wheeler is the most surprising because it all really hit me at the end of the book how much i loved it 🥰
Just saw your strawberry book fold in de backround 😊💜 love it
shoko’s smile was a translated short story collection that i loved this month by choi eunyoung. about family, grief, love, heartbreak, and illness. i totally recommend it!
So glad that you loved Yolk! It’s one of my favorite books 🥹💛 Also, same thoughts on Just Kids. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if I could relate to the grandeur or say the star-studdedness (?) of it
my favorite AND most surprising was the secret history. i thought i wouldn’t like it but i fucking loved it
Your videos always make me smile. I did enjoy the bridgerton show (I actually prefer the first season) didn’t read the books though. Can’t wait to read Book Lovers aaaahhh!!
Best book I’ve read this month : The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker. I read it thanks to you and it’s for sure one of the best book of my life !
The way I gasped when you said Book Lovers beats out the Hating Game for you 😮😧
Re Bridgerton, I've watched and really enjoyed both seasons - fun, addictive, great romances - but I had the same issue with S1 as you. I was really loving the romance until around halfway through the season when, really, we straight up have one half of our pairing sexually assault the other in a pretty triggering scene, and then this event is framed as absolutely fine (even justified) behaviour, with no criticism of it within the narrative whatsoever. In fact, it ultimately gets that character what they wanted out of it. Frankly I'm astonished that when adapting this to screen the writers/show runner didn't alter this part of the story.
That said, I enjoyed the rest of the season but it put a big dampener on it and I was no longer enthusiastic about our main couple. I'd still recommend watching if you think you can get past it. If not, S2 was was brilliant and much less problematic - really great enemies to lovers storyline - so I'd definitely recommend just starting from there!
Totally agree! Could not get over the SA on season 1. I can’t watch past the third episode of season 1 but love season 2!
my biggest surprise was a book I expected to be an average so-so, as I haven't heard of it anywhere, but I found it on scribd and the mix of tropes fit. and all the deities above and below, her royal happiness was one of the best romances and certainly the best sapphic romance I have ever read. it won't be for everybody, I think some people might find it somewhat boring. but I love that there is no annoying melodrama. it was both sweet and steamy, and the steam was done in a way my demi heart loved.
Favorite Book this month: Malibu Rising! Wow, I devoured/loved this book. I loved the vibes/atmosphere- I wanted to become a lil stoner, surfer, beach bum while I read this and for some time after 🤣🤣🤣
Least Favorite/Biggest Letdown: Book Lovers 😢 It was just okay for me. The characters didn’t do it for me. The sister relationship I felt was really odd and immature. I just couldn’t get into it or care about the characters.
Biggest Surprise/Didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did: Part of Your World. I really enjoyed this rom com that had magical elements. It wasn’t perfect or a 5🌟for me but it captivated me and I was invested in the town and the love interests.
Currently reading: The Martian- thanks for the summer rec video Noelle. Love you so much and hope you are enjoying your summer!
favourite book was book lovers and delilah green doesn’t care
biggest surprise was conversations with friends because i hated normal people last year but i gave this 4.5 stars!
i have about 80 pages left in yolk and i’m absolutely obsessed with it. i’ve felt the complete spectrum of emotions while reading it so far aside from crying, but i’m just waiting for something to happen that makes me lose it hahaha
This month I read Yolk, Ugly Love, The Unhoneymooners, All Boys Aren’t Blue & Behind Closed Doors. My favourite book was Behind Closed Doors and my least favourite book was Ugly Love🫣
I feel like Ugly Love is trending everywhere but a lot of Goodreads reviews said it was bad The warnings confirmed it wasn’t for me
Agreed, I've been reading Tropic of Cancer except I like to pretend the character Van Norden is like a Bailey Jay, mite write my own book think I'll call it "Beyond the Valley of Penises"
i’m posting my wrap up later tonight but one book that surprised me was the seven husbands of evelyn hugo!! i’ve heard so many good things that i got nervous that it would be underwhelming but it 100% lives up to the hype
two great reads of this month for me was What Might’ve Been & Lucky ❤️
The best book I read this month was Hamnet by far and now it’s an all time fav!
Hi Noelle, my favorite read this month is A Good Guide's to Murder! I devoured the trilogy in May and have no regrets. I am hoping to start Book Lovers soon too! XD
best book: a certain hunger
surprise: piranesi
awesome video 🥰
Ok… read “House of Sky and Breath” this month… almost gave up and stopped reading about three quarters of the way through, glad I didn’t iykyk but still that book was TOO LONG
also read “Book Lovers” and 🥺🥺 ugh my heart i LOVED IT
anyways love you Noelle thanks for the recs 🙏🙏
Definitely just watch bridgerton. The second season is so good, I liked it even more than the first
Your videos make my day 🥰
My favorite was Hotel Magnifique. A bit dark at times but SO SO good. I was very pleased.
i would recommend maxine hong kingston’s other book: China Men. kingston was gonna make one book but then split it between china men and the woman warrior. i had to read china men in school and also had to write an essay on!
My favourite read of may and also my most surprising was The Book Ninja. It was just such a fun read.
I also read 12 books in May! My biggest surprise was rating 7 of them 5⭐️! I just genuinely had such a good reading month and loved everything I was reading
