same! SPOILER warning if never read. at first i thought it was low herself writing these and making these up, the other was thinking he wrote them and killed everyone one by one. either way I think a second book would be cool of her suspecting him again realizing he has the power to kill now etc and the thrilling day to day kindof like netflix You after they got together etc.
then like a paranormal element of her possible ghost coming to haunt them etc but it being her friend from the supermarket who knew secret info from verity, and them cracking under pressure eventually!
I also thought it was heading somewhere else! *spoilers maybe I thought I was going to be lowen turning into verity the more time she spent in the house or something along those lines. There were moments where the writing was implying the similarities between lowen and verity over time. Also when the house was described i was like ok the house itself has something to do with the story. 🤷🏻♀️
I am SO glad to hear someone didn’t like Verity, for the same reasons I didn’t! Man I could not connect with those characters, and I’m such a character person. I NEED to know what you thought the ending was going to be. Maybe I’ll enjoy it more if I envision it that way 😅
the only book i read in march was the song of achilles, which i started reading in january lol. but it was incredible, made me cry, and is one of my new fav books!!
In March I read: The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid American Buffalo by David Mamet A Promised Land by Barack Obama Sylvia by A.R. Gurney A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams Gruesome Playground Injuries by Rajiv Joseph The Skin Of Our Teeth by Thorton Wilder Life Of Pi by Yann Martel The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead My favorite from this month was The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo
@@SyMpHOny893 Life Of Pi was a pleasant surprise! I honestly loved reading this journey and was captivated throughout. I tried reading the book when I was younger but gave up, I'm very happy I revisited this book. It's great too if you like animals because to an extent it gives great insights!
Noelle! I read 9 books this month, it’s the most i’ve ever read in a single month. I LOVED A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. Also, omg let us know what you guessed for Verity’s ending… I’m intrigued!
My favourite book this month was The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. Totally hooked on him now and buying all his books asap! Love your videos Noelle!
I read born a crime, Trevor Noah's memoir, and omg it was SO AMAZING!!! His comedic side really had me laughing sooo hard while he juggles his childhood, highly recommend 💕💕
and just like that, it's March again, which means im now celebrating 2 YEARS since discovering your channel! Which is single-handily responsible for reigniting my love for reading as an adult after not having read for YEARS, AND for giving me a safe and JOYUS corner of the internet to disappear into whilst we were all locked away in our bedrooms and feeling lonelier than ever...from the bottom of my heart, thankyou Noelle for all that you do, you've changed my life and brought so much joy to us all, THANKYOU
The book I started reading in March is a collection of stories called Disability Visibility Edited by Alice Wong. Seriously so so amazing so far to hear some of many voices in the disabled community. Highly recommend!
I don't know if you've read Just Kids by Patti Smith but it is such a beautiful memoir. I'm currently reading it and I can already tell it's going to be a favorite.
I read Just Kids many times and it's simply phenomenal. One of my all-time favorite books for sure, it's deeply comforting in its nostalgic beauty. I also happen to be heavily into the whole 60's/70's music scene in America like The Velvet Underground, The Doors, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Patti Smith etc. etc., so there was no way I wouldn't love this memoir. ❤️
I was kind of in a reading slump last month but I loved The Cartographers though I saw it had mixed reviews! Am still recommending Moti on the Water for you though 😍
I can't believe you have the same thoughts on "Verity" as me!All my friends are like"but it's good cause it means she was good from the beginning" but i don't think the letter makes any sense and i would've loved it to end without it.
I loved Native Son! A really challenging, thought-provoking book. Plus, I read it in the depths of a Canadian winter so it definitely fit the atmosphere. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!
Hi Noelle 🧡 Thank you for always putting a smile on my face. Regarding my reading month last March... it was terrible, LOL. I am in a huuuuge reading slump right now, due to a very high stress level, but specially because of a very VERY hyped up book that turned to be the most boring and disgustingly cheesy one I've ever tried to read. I feel like I can't DNF it because it was a gift from my bff and roomie and I want to find out why people loved it, but GOSH it has made me hate reading... I'm glad you had such an interesting reading month, tho ^^ You're the best, Noelle. Love you so much!
I’m really, really looking forward (if that’s the right term) to Crying in H Mart which I will definitely be reading in the next couple of months. So pleased you loved Hamnet. I’ve missed the vlog somehow, I’m going to head to it next. Very excited for O’Farrell’s next one.
THANK YOU for your Verity critique. The first half of the book was so spooky and cool, and had so much potential. But at the end I was just like “…..uhhhhh….” It felt so thrown together and rushed at the end.
I agree with you on Verity. I personally loved it, but I took to all the characters almost immediately. Also the audiobook was AMAZING. I actually preferred to the original. The narrator did a spectacular job with Verity's voice, and it was so cool to hear the manuscript read almost like it was directly coming out of Verity's mouth.
I’m obsessed with memories that circle around food so I recommend “Notes from a young black chef” and “blood, bones and butter” both were phenomenal stories mixed with food descriptions that will make you drool.
completely with you on your thoughts about matrix!!!! the third half was just … stuff happening … or whatever but the peak of the novel was my favorite. loved reading about bad ass marie and her army of nuns lol. in the end i gave it a solid 3 stars because i did love love love the writing and how unique the novel was.
My top book of March was definitely Rock Paper Scissors. The twist hit me so hard I had to put the book down and rethink every single plot point for about 20 minutes to process before I could continue 😝
How to Be You by Jeffrey Marsh was just what my soul needed to read right now. Your inner child will thank you. Others I read were kind of meh, a sort of meh month. Hoping for a better April!
One Italian Summer was a wonderful book I read in March. I think you would really love it. It features lots of great descriptions of food, water, and beaches, and has a little romance in it!
I'm so glad you enjoyed Loveless! I feel like it gets overshadowed by Heartstopper and even Radio Silence, which is a shame because it's such a lovely story and it explains asexuality/aromamticism in such an accessible way. My favorite book I read last month was probably The Things We Don't See by Savannah Brown. It's a weird, dark, coming-of-age, new adult-ish novel with a dizzying story and killer writing style. And despite being aimed at a specific age range, I feel like anyone would be able to enjoy it! (Speaking as someone who's very picky about YA/new adult -- almost to the point where it's unfair😅) If you want an incredible memoir, I recommend Sitting Pretty by Rebekah Taussig. It tells her story as a disabled person and wheelchair user while also talking about where she feels she fits in in terms of feminist discussions and topics similar. It was captivatingly written and once again super accessible; I was even confronted with my own internalized ableism I didn't realize I'd been holding on to! Really incredible 2020 release I wish more people talked about.
noelle! i've only watched your videos for a couple months but your channel has inspired me to get back into reading! this isn't meant to be self promo, i just wanted to say thank you for getting me back into something that used to be so important to me, i even made a wrap up video for this month because of it :)
Memoirs are wonderful! I too love to read about a person's experience from their own perspective. I have found I really like when they use nature and adventure to tell their stories. My favs in that vein are Wild by Cheryl Strayed, The Only Kayak by Kim Heacox, and A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson.
Favorite book I read in March was "The Chestnut Man" by Soren Sveistrup (not new but has been on my TBR a while) 5 Stars! My least favorite book was "One Hit Wonder" by Lisa Jewell. Pretty good but not a favorite. Gave it 3 Stars.
I agree about Hamnet and it’s audiobook! The audiobook narrator was excellent imo and she conveyed the story and characters so well; it definitely enhanced my experience with the book!
I got Know My Name from my library last month on your recommendation and loved it so much. I immediately purchased a copy after I finished it so I could reread and annotate and highlight, which I never do. It was the first memoir I've ever read and now I've got a huge list to read because I cant get enough.
One of my favorite reads from March was Kindred by Octavia E Butler. *Amazing*! Least favorite will have to be It Ends With Us; Colleen Hoover is just not the one for me. Aaaaand most excited to read Piranesi in April!
March Reading List: Morvern Callar by Alan Warner Good Morning, Midnight by Jean Rhys In Love by Alfred Hayes Miss. Julie by August Strindberg (Play) For April, I just finished Tennessee Williams’ play ‘In The Bar of a Tokyo Hotel’. I’m trying to delve into the Greek tragedies this month as well as writing my own plays.
Noelle. I have no clue if you'll see this at this point, but listen: I got in a reading slump due to grad school and decided I wanted to read something light. I picked up The Hating Game per your recommendation as I'm an avid viewer. It's a bit outside of my normal (boring) books. Let me tell you - it has CONSUMED me. I stayed up in the wee hours of twilight reading away like a kid who just got their first Magic Treehouse book. I'm obsessed. I now need EVERY and I mean EVERY romcom book recommendation. Enemies to lovers? Lovers to enemies? Strangers to enemies to lovers? ALL THE TROPES. I need them. Thank you for bringing this genre into my life.
I had several favorites of March and it's kind of hard to pick between them, so I'll tell you my worst book of March. It was Midnight Sun. I wasn't going to read it (it did take me months to finish it), but the little 12 year old inside my brain didn't wanna let it go. I kinda regret it, but now I know for sure that if Stephanie Meyer decides to write anymore books from Edward's perspective that I will not be reading them pffff- Super glad to see you enjoyed Loveless, though. That book was such an anticipated read for me that I preordered it (something I almost never do) and started reading the moment I got it in the mail.
Thank you Noelle! I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on the books you’ve read. Crying in H Mart has been on my tbr list, but I didn’t realize it was written by a member of Japanese Breakfast. Their music is so good! From your description it sounds like a quite enjoyable read and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
The best book I read in march was probably the final empire by brandon sanderson. It wasn't my first time reading it but I wanted to start again so I could continue the series and I think I enjoyed my reread even more than the first time, especially since it was a buddy read
I also read Crying in H Mart in march and it’s also one of my new favorites, it was a fantastic read, it touched on some really heavy and personal subjects for me and it made me cry like you have no idea
Well now all I want to know is what you thought the ending of Verity would be! 🤣 I, too, had a good reading month. The book that takes the cake though by FAR was Bunny by Mona Awad. Holy smokes....that book is absolute brilliance. 🐰❤
Verity was a 1-star for me. Sooo predictable (don't feel bad :)). I figured everything in less than a third of the book. Loved the Tessa Bailey one too.
Noelleeeee I was so excited to see your review of The Pisces…I purchased it on my birthday and you released a video the same day and said that you had picked it up! I hope you get to it soon!!
this month i read 6 books! it was a pretty good month too. i read: -the overstory by richard powers 5/5 just lovely. makes you appreciate nature more. it feels like a relaxing walk in the park with singing birds and butterflies all around after you had a long day. i finished it and literally went out to hug a tree -slow days, fast company by eve babitz 5/5 very short and not a lot goes on but i just loved it? its about the author's life in the 70s. she just seemed so cool and it made me wish i had been her friend -sexing the cherry by jeanette winterson 4.5/5 idek how to describe this one. it was weird and a bit confusing at times but in a fantastic way -the seven husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkins reid 4/5 fun and enjoyable, i'd reread it. it just wasn't as great as everyone made me think tbh -love is a mixtape by rob sheffield 4.5/5 a memoir about how music brought the author and his wife, who passed away, together. lovely too and great music recommendations -the woman destroyed by simone de beauvoir 5/5 although it has a problematic part at the beginning, it's an exceptional book. 3 stories about 3 different women and how they cope with certain things. it's just really good
A wonderful memoir if you hadn't already read it was the Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. It's got family dynamics in poverty, abuse, it wrestles with issues around how people act on different environments despite situations being similar- I read this book when it came out and I still think about it. There's a lot to think about. The ending will make your jaw drop. Also another one Walls wrote about her grandparents ( I believe, may have been great grandparents but another generation) on a ranch was another super great book. Also with you on verity. I read it quickly but for me it didn't land right in the end. Such a bummer when that happens.
Caritas Pirckheimer was an abbess at the time of the Reformation in Germany. She wrote a journal and is a fascinating character. She was from an educated family and her father had one of the largest libraries in Germany. Her brother Willibald also had a large library and was writing at the same time.
Read some incredible books in March!! Fell in love with Frankenstein, then Open Water was a lyrical masterpiece, and A Psalm for the Wild Built was the comfort Sci-Fi I didn't know I needed 🙌🏾🙌🏾 So so excited to read Crying in H Mart!!
I had a great March reading month. It made up for the terrible February I had. I had 3 two stars in Feb - The Unhoneymooners, Red White & Royal Blue, and How To Fake It In Hollywood. Both the Unhoneymooners and How to Fake it had unlikable hero’s. And RWRB was too long with not enough actual plot. In March I loved Watch Over Me, In Deeper Waters, and Soul Eater (which is like a monster smut romance novel??) 😅 I also had a few other 5 star reads in March. So it was a good month.
I'm happy to see someone else not like Verity even if it isn't for the exact same reasons. There were so many ways for her to go and she chose ableism. My one reading goal for the year is also to read one non fiction book a month which is going well so far.I definitely need to read more of it.
I read 6 books in March! My favorite read was Malibu Rising, I really liked it and made me want to check out other books by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Another book I really liked was The Prince and the Dressmaker. It was a really cute story and the artwork was beautiful!
i read arcadia by lauren groff this month and i loved it!! the writing was beautiful and the story overall was really sweet and lovely. a far wilder magic was another favorite!! the atmosphere of that book is so stunning
I’m getting married in July and I’m getting your earrings for the day - as soon as I saw them I fell in love, they’re so unique and beautiful 🥰
Congratulations! :)
this is so sweet!! and congratulations!! ✨🤍
Congrats Katherine! Wishing you and your special person a lifetime of happiness! 💛💛💛
I would love to hear what the sinister twist was that you thought of for Verity!
I WANT TO KNOW TOO!!! The book was so bad
I also thought it was heading somewhere else! *spoilers maybe
I thought I was going to be lowen turning into verity the more time she spent in the house or something along those lines. There were moments where the writing was implying the similarities between lowen and verity over time. Also when the house was described i was like ok the house itself has something to do with the story. 🤷🏻♀️
every time somebody talks about that book my brain automatically goes “Hook, Line, and Sinker?? I hardly even know her” and like, for what
My kinda humour heheh
I am SO glad to hear someone didn’t like Verity, for the same reasons I didn’t! Man I could not connect with those characters, and I’m such a character person. I NEED to know what you thought the ending was going to be. Maybe I’ll enjoy it more if I envision it that way 😅
Literally same I wanna hear what you expected the ending to be!
I’m SO curious what you thought the twist ending of Verity was going to be because I also guessed something way creepier!!!
Omg what was your theory
The house in the cerulean sea was the best one I read in march ❤
the only book i read in march was the song of achilles, which i started reading in january lol. but it was incredible, made me cry, and is one of my new fav books!!

Same.
Verity was a 1 star for me too
Same for me. It was terrible on a number of levels.
Best: a curious beginning by Deanna raybourn (Veronica speedwell #1)
Worst: nothing by blackened teeth by Cassandra khaw
LOVE CRYING IN H MART!!! CANNOT OVERSTATE!!
Noelleeeee I was so excited to see your review of The Pisces…I purchased it on my birthday and you released a video the same day and said that you had picked it up! I hope you get to it soon!!
this month i read 6 books! it was a pretty good month too.
i read:
-the overstory by richard powers 5/5 just lovely. makes you appreciate nature more. it feels like a relaxing walk in the park with singing birds and butterflies all around after you had a long day. i finished it and literally went out to hug a tree
-slow days, fast company by eve babitz 5/5 very short and not a lot goes on but i just loved it? its about the author's life in the 70s. she just seemed so cool and it made me wish i had been her friend
-sexing the cherry by jeanette winterson 4.5/5 idek how to describe this one. it was weird and a bit confusing at times but in a fantastic way
-the seven husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkins reid 4/5 fun and enjoyable, i'd reread it. it just wasn't as great as everyone made me think tbh
-love is a mixtape by rob sheffield 4.5/5 a memoir about how music brought the author and his wife, who passed away, together. lovely too and great music recommendations
-the woman destroyed by simone de beauvoir 5/5 although it has a problematic part at the beginning, it's an exceptional book.
My favorite March read was The Bookish Life of Nina Hill. It was a heartwarming hug in book form.
Did I tear up listening to you talk about Crying in H Mart? Yes. That book wrecked me.
Caritas Pirckheimer was an abbess at the time of the Reformation in Germany. She wrote a journal and is a fascinating character. She was from an educated family and her father had one of the largest libraries in Germany. Her brother Willibald also had a large library and was writing at the same time.
A wonderful wrap up! Love your videos!! 💜
you've convinced me to pick up crying in h-mart!!
Noelle you have to read It Ends With Us. I know everyone talks about it but its so good!
I felt the same way about Verity! I was trying to find the words for it but you summed it up perfectly!
One of my favorite books I read this month was Bryan Cranston's autobiography A Life in Parts.
YES! i felt the same about Verity, yet I immediately though of a cool entire plot line for the sequel book haha.
Your review of Verity is the perfect description of what I felt as well!!! Now we must know what your ending would’ve been!!
your march wrap up is my april tbr 😂😂
I completely agree with you on the pacing for Matrix! I wish the rest of the book was as taut as the first part.
I also read Crying in H Mart and Hook, Line, and Sinker in March!
My one reading goal for the year is also to read one non fiction book a month which is going well so far.I definitely need to read more of it.
can’t wait to hear about your trip!! my fav read in March was no exit :)
I read 6 books in March! My favorite read was Malibu Rising, I really liked it and made me want to check out other books by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Another book I really liked was The Prince and the Dressmaker. It was a really cute story and the artwork was beautiful!
You’re going to LOVE the other TJR books!
reading crying in h mart now! it's already made me cry and i cant wait to feel even more emotions from it haha
Crying in H Mart has been on my TBR for so long! I need to go pick it up ASAP.
i read arcadia by lauren groff this month and i loved it!! the writing was beautiful and the story overall was really sweet and lovely. a far wilder magic was another favorite!! the atmosphere of that book is so stunning
