- Hi lovely people. We're Malin and Alex, a Swedish/British vanlife couple, currently living and travelling full time in our self converted van in Spain. In this vlog we realise that money is disappearing from our Spanish bank account and we don't know why. Panic! Are we being scammed or what actually happened? Watch us try and solve this mess in Spanish and come along to one of our favourite places in Málaga, La Alcazaba.

Malin, everybody make mistakes online and bank card fraud is a real problem across the world. I hope you can get all your problems resolved and continue with your journey. My wife who passed away said to me before she died "Life happens when you are making other plans" and boy was she right in many ways. All the best!

This happened on my American Express card. Someone got the number and charged $500 worth of toys on the card. Thankfully, AE notified me and cancelled the transaction and I did not have to pay the money back. I also have an account at a very small bank here in the States and they are quite vigilant in notifying me if anything looks weird on the account. Lending energy to you as you negotiate the financial issues of today's world. I fully understand the frustration. Malaga is a lovely city.
We’re so annoyed we didn’t notice for nearly 4 months! Our bank won’t return any money to us as I’ve provided the details when that app was hacked. You know, I can’t really prove that’s what happened. We’ve contacted the scammers and they actually answered and said I wouldn’t be charged any more from that day and onward and the next day the money was taken from my card. So we write to them again and they said they will refund the last payment but it will take a few days. If the money doesn’t come back for this last payment my bank will get involved.

Sorry to hear about the scam ! I inadvertently did the same some years ago..I signed up for a free trial of a skin product at a greatly reduced trial price.. unknowingly also joining a monthly subscription which was in the small print terms and conditions ! I panicked a bit when I realised as the bank couldn't do anything other than cancel the card ( credit) and of course I emailed to cancel the subscription fortunately that was the end of it !I know someone that payed around £14 per month for 18 months for an Amazon subscription..all attempts to cancel it with Amazon failed because it wasn't with them ! Got sorted in the end by cancelling the card I think...hopefully you have now solved the problem although it's awful to have lost money this way !

We’ve never been scammed before and scary that the app for fuel prices I downloaded was hacked and took me to a totally different page to fill in my card details. I really shouldn’t have done that. So I got a subscription for a streaming sight that doesn’t stream videos and was charged 40 € monthly. Crazy! And we didn’t even notice!
Scamming, I’m sure has happened to all of us at some point. I paid for petrol in the U.K. and then was defrauded of money some how (card skimming I think it is called) and also like you on the internet. I feel very luck that my bank’s investigation allowed them to refund me the money. I guess this is essentially what you bank is saying (maybe?). I am hoping the universe will be kinder to you both as it sounds like you both have had some challenges to navigate of late. As I said before the reality of your videos makes you guys watchable, especially in a world of fake on social media.
Thanks for your comment and for watching! Yeah social media can be so fake and sometimes we’re partly guilty if it as well, often only sharing the good or only filming when we’re happy. It’s actually really difficult to find the energy to film when something bad happens. 🤦♀️😊
