hm, interesting boss, totally didn't remind me of the Fire Giant from Elden Ring, Kappa. But, regarding the log, what if there would be a mechanic that when the log is dropped it's more vulnerable to fire and lightning attacks, if it's attacked only using that it catches on fire and it can be destroy faster, the boss sees that and rushes to get it back, if he succeeds he will now have a fire stick to beat you (so you need high special dps or patience to chop it slowly :D, also I imagine frost attacks on the boss will slow him down so there's more chances to burn the log in time)
