    You know an actor is genius when they don't look like acting, they just take us to watch their lives in this store, with all their small victories and defeats, this must be one of the greatest shows ever, with the best distribution 😊❤❤❤

      @@lynnnleistinger8226 it was a great revival series. I wish it had more seasons and that Mr. Lucas had joined the cast. I always had this head canon that in the third series he would have popped up as the new owner of the manor after playing the stocks with his Grace Brothers severance pay or marrying some rich widow. lol

    Although this program it’s almost 50 years old it makes me laugh every time I watch it and I’m so pleased that Utube Is carrying it. Every night before going to bed I watch an episode and it leaves joy in my heart when I try to fall asleep.

    I have loved this show for years. The BBC made a grave mistake in letting Trevor Bannister go. This cast is by far the best and has the best chemistry.

      Used to watch this as a kid in the late 80's\ early 90's as a kid in southern to Mississippi on one of the few stations my great grandparents got at around 11 pm for years, along with "Absolutely Fabulous'' and ''Andy Griffith''.

    I discovered this show years ago and instantly fell in love! This is one of my favorite episodes! When Mr. Lucas says, "Are we singing Er, er er, er er er, or er er er er?" And Mr. Rumbold replies, " Err?", I always laugh out loud!!

      I quit watching the news about 6 months ago. Deleted both facebook accounts 2 months before that. Things have been great!
      The only update I have gotten recently is that some old fart that likes 8 year old girls and a fake black lady are making a run at the White House.
      They will win if they can intercept enough if the mailers.

    This is my "go to sleep show"..Put it on using my laptop and wake up about 2 hrs later, turn it off and go right back to sleep! Just a comment on Mr. Rumbold, watched a documentary on him. He was an amazing person and so talented..has done stage work in his earlier yrs..then became character actor on TV.

      Reminds me of the Mony Python episode "Michael Ellis", where they have a department for Ants, and a separate one for complaints on Ants. In fact, that particular store has three entire floors reserved for "complaints".
      Also, Satire, dangerous gases, soft, hard and rock hard furnishings, nasal injuries and "others". As well as roof garden that ísn't on the top floor.

    Mrs. Slocombe's hair color is exceptionally wonderful in this episode. It's always a treat to see what new color they've managed to create. I call this one, 'Ashes of Citron' - or maybe 'Cinders & Chartreuse'.

    I used to watch reruns of this show in the middle eighties....it wasn't until a year or two ago that I found it again......very saddened to know that they have all passed. Rest in peace to you all.

    Capt. Peacock (Frank Thornton) was in actuality only a year older than Mrs. Slocombe (Mollie Sugden). Mr. Rumbold (Nicholas Smith) is only 5 months older than Mr. Lucas (Trevor Bannister), both were a year older than Mr. Humphries (John Inman). Ms. Brahms (Wendy Richard) was 8 years younger than Inman and 22 years younger than Thornton. Mollie was 54 at this episodes taping.

    Mollie Sugden(Mrs Slocombe was born in July 1922), and this was taped April 1976... She was 54 years old, and getting ready to turn 55, at least in real life...

    I love this era of British comedy. No grotesque dialogs only risqué innuendos that even BBC sensors passed. Can't do this work in this day of egg shell people

    After all these years - having watched the show ever since the first episode was aired - I still really happily enjoy Mrs Slocombe's always differently coloured hair.
    "I'm as old as my toes and a little older than my teeth."
    (Although my teeth could by age be my great-grandchildren. 😂)

    At 14:00, poor Mrs. Slocombe has forgotten one of the 'time-honored' tricks-of-the-Trade in Department Store retail--Never, ever reduce an item that your going to use as a gift for fellow co-workers--until the store closes, the day, BEFORE the Party. That way, no But-inski customer walks away with an unintended Bargain. Lol...(Worked in a Dept. Store--seen it in action)

    I saw this back when either PBS or A&E was airing it in the 90s. I had such a vivid memory of the "happy birthday dear uh uh", I mouthed it word for word after not seeing it for 25+ years.

    I just always loved this show. My husband was one of those people who rarely thought anything was funny. But when it came to this show, he laugh so hard he came close to wetting himself many many times. He also loved Keeping Up Appearances.

      There was one episode where it was actually red, white, and green. Reminded me of the Italian flag, but there was nothing Italian in that particular episode, so it was just a random detail.

      I was always impressed when it was the same color as pink fiberglass insulation. I'm glad she was able to wear wigs eventually, her hair would have been destroyed.
