my grandmother never figured out why my garlic turned purple, probably 25 years ago this happened! Its been a mystery until now. Wish she was here so i could tell her. anyway, thanks for thge video. i am pickling some of my own okra now. thanks again and i am a subscriber now.
@@dennisdye2330 oh that's a sweet story! Thanks for sharing it with me! Welcome new friend ☺️
Well, they are fantastic. I am making another dozen pints now. Appreciate you. D
@@dennisdye2330 oh that's great to hear! Thanks for letting me know!
If you use whole garlic and blanch it before you add it to the jars it won’t change colors!! 😊
@@momlite4 oh nice to know, thanks!
Keeps people asking about it when it changes colors 😂 conversation starter lol
Finally ‼️, someone who cans okra with out hot peppers, thank you ‼️❤️
We don't eat peppers, lol
@@BootsandBountyHomestead I eat peppers just not hot ones..I found a recipe for stuffed peppers, your smaller ones from garden..slice length wise stuff with a combination of cream cheese and ground sausage sprinkled with parmesan cheese bake about 15mins.omg so good
Thank you.
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
I would highly recommend wiping off the tops of your jars before adding the lids and rings. That's standard practice. Your okra pickles look beautiful! How lucky to have someone share their bounty with you!
Ok thanks! We love canning okra and never had any issues.
When are they ready to eat after canning? Lol. I ask the important questions.
@@lindasaffles4189 when you can't wait any longer 😂

Good morning Kacy ☀️. Never had pickled okra before. Thanks for sharing 😁👍
Hope you try it sometime and enjoy it.
They all fit yeah.. Nice job!
I love pickled okra, yummy. I would love for you guys to join in on our collaboration we have out now on how to preserve food. If you are interested my video on pickled okra kicked off the collaboration and I explain it at the begining of that video. Have a great day
Me too but anyone else 😂
You nailed it Kacy. No slimy okra!
What do you do if it get slimy
Can you eat it anyway
It will only get slimy if you cut the caps off. The mucilage is inside the pod is what makes it slimy. But yes, if they get slimy you can still eat them.
They are slimy because of the mucilage inside of them and that's what is great for the lining of your digestive tract! Helps everything slide thru 😁
Thanks
I tried okra one time years ago that my mother in law fixed & didn't care for it. When I see it deep fried on some cooking shows it looks good. Maybe I should try that.
Bet she made it slimy, huh? They have frozen already breaded okra in our stores that would be a great start for you to try. Frying them isn't slimy like when they are sliced and raw. We LOVE okra! Emma's favorite thing to cook and eat. She probably eats half of it while she's cooking it 😂
I’ve never had any pickled okra I like, but I love fried!!
We love fried okra as well. It was good to put up some pickled okra for down the road.
I LOVE okra but cannot find it here in eastern WA like I could in FL..I miss fresh okra.
Some of WA is zone 7-8, surely they grow it there, or maybe it's a southern thing!!
I've never tried pickled okra but I'm sure this would be great as the brine would cut any slimy texture that okra often has. 💯❤👍
It's how I first had okra, never knew it was slimy. Dilled pickled okra!!! Good stuff!
Yummy!!
Dear kacy, never tried okra! Thanks for talking about it! Did u get my address? See u soon. 😚❤😚🎃
No ma'am, I have not. Email it to me bootsandbountyhomestead@gmail.com
I'll go look again and make sure I haven't gotten it
A ton is 2000 pounds
🤣🤣🤷🏼♀️
Love! Thank you for this. I would say one thing I remember. If you turn your canning face down, they will seal faster and more secure than covering them up to keep the heat in. You force the natural process to the bottom ( or top lids) where it matters. Flip them upside down when cooling and sealing.
Great tip!
