How does this make sense? cities spend tax $ to feed and shelter the homeless in jail, but to build homeless shelters with programs that would assist them ,and help them get back on their feet with that same tax $ is an unreasonable and ridiculous notion. 10 years ago this was me "NOT A CHOICE".
Conservatives dont want to help, only punish
Makes a lot of sense
LoL follow the money. If it's your job to use tax payer money to solve homelessness then how eager are you going to be to work yourself out of a job? Better to steal, pay off and lie then after 30 years blame the homeless 😂
Homelessness isn't a choice selfish people get greedy
Hurting people who are already down. Help them.
I agree Stephen, we should help them. What do you propose we do?
Making the Homeless Criminals???? SHAME on AMERICA
It's been illegal
People who say "America is the best country in the world" need a reality check
By what standards? Your"s? Who are to pass judgement on a country that has giving you freedom to do what you want in life including camping on the streets. So when you pull your head out and see lucky your to live here maybe you''ll ask your for breakfest. Loser.
how many countries have you visited?
Actually, it is. Try living in my wife's country for a month. You'd be whining like the baby that you are. 😂
It’s now illegal to be homeless.
Find a better one and move there!
States and cities should start taking control of abandoned buildings that are not being repaired, used, or put up for sale. Fix them and charge an actually affordable rent so the homeless with jobs can afford to get off the streets.
@@MsSeeingeagle right or some sort of program to provide temporary housing while they get schooling or training and can eventually transition into a permanent housing situation. Too many greedy and heartless people in power.
Just read your comment. Agree 100%
Or we could make corporate ownership of residential property illegal so the people that can afford to buy every house on the market can't control the cost of housing.
One other thing to consider: A lot of unused commercial buildings in my area in Wisco are held by holdings companies that don't pay taxes (arguing that they aren't getting income when no one is renting the space). If the owner/management company is delinquent on their taxes, you could seize the property and renovate for low income housing. It STILL won't fix the problem, but at least gets people into better shelter for the time being.
Theirs not such thing as homeless with jobs if their homeless cause they don’t like to work
They need to help these people get off the streets. I'm sure permanent camping is not their preferred lifestyle. Where's your compassion people
Crazy, they don’t want street people then find places for them to stay! Renovate buildings! Bring them up to code! Why is this so complicated? There is no higher or greater moral imperative, than to take care of the poor & homeless!
What is your address, we will send them your way. We want to walk down our street without piss, shit, needles and drug users
I found a place.. your home
@@carliemorgan1871The average person doesn't want to move in with a stranger anyways. Unless they're super desperate or a homeless child who doesn't know any better.
Citing them does nothing
Agreed. They can now remove them.
@ReasonablySane and where do they go? U want tax payers money spent to house and feed them in jail.
@@BunnyMan-ec4xg that's a different problem. The thing is, if you allow people to do a thing with no repercussions, they're going to do it. If people understand that they don't have the option of living on the street they may just decide to work a little harder to keep their jobs.
Yes, I know that doesn't work in every case but it would at least reduce it. Having laws doesn't eliminate a problem, but it usually reduces it. Sure beats anarchy, which is what we really have now in a lot of those places.
It gives them, the city, the ability to completely ruin these people
@sharicewantspeace These.people already ruined themselves
Why not utilize the unused malls and shuttered stores for cities to house these desperate people. You could someday be in their predicament.
Because they tear up most of any help they get,and how are people in jail making money for the establishment? It costs the taxpayers millions of dollars every year to house, feed, and supply medical to inmates.
@@marksmess136 that’s a fantastic idea!! ♥️
Or you can take them in

@@scottmalloy2218 not sure why you felt like attacking me, but ok..it’s your opinion. Most of us are one paycheck away from homelessness! Maybe you are just privileged? They have to hit rock bottom before they can climb there way out of the hole they dug for themselves.

None of my business, but just hoping you are doing ok now..I live pretty comfortably now through hard work , but still at 58 have to work to make it..I clean houses…And to be fair, yes you are correct that I want to come across as compassionate cause I have been there! So yes! I’d love to have a conversation about how to solve homelessness ♥️
@@jenlynch5550 so color me angry because I don't have blind compassion for those that won't help themselves.
I'm retired and volunteer a vast majority of my time helping the elderly, people that truly can't help themselves...a place we both will find ourselves one day. As to the 20 to 50 years old folks who have chosen the life they have I got neither empathy or desire to help or even care. Very few of the homeless are in that situation because of good choices and hard work. At your age you must realize that.
Why spend less to solve the homeless issue when you can spend more on making the issue worse.
If you're going to make it illegal to be homeless, make it illegal to evict someone without forst making areangemwmtts to habe another place to live.
This would fall tp the landlord or owner needlessly hickojg up remt, when the place would dit vacant anyway losong money.
Make it ilkegal to have vacant homes unless being actively renovated, renovated.
Limit the corporate ownership of residential establishments to just the headquarters home state.
If its bank owned insure house inspectors wvaluate the redidents to decode if it's salvagable for renovations. Or rebuild. For multi use housing
We have a lot of empty places just sitting empty or being built and will remain empty.
Have a minimum wage price and a jobs or services program for those who don't. Pr can't .
Texas, with the weather from God punishing you for your treatment of women,,do you really think God's not gonna be more angry at your treatment of the homeless? Good luck with those summer storms.
These people are homeless and have no income and money to survive on.
You should not arrest them, shelters are not safe .
People get beaten up, personal properties, and because so many people homeless; there is a 6mth to 12 mth waiting list to get in.
Even if you are on waiting list, does not guaranteed you will get room and board within a year ( from what I was told).
Stop shoving homeless from place to place, Have a designated atea just for homeless to camp in but try to help them find permanent housing, job, and skill/trade training so they have necessary education to join the work force.
If they can stand on their own financially with assistance, they will be encouraged to do better for themselves and stay off street living.
Arresting people won't be solution for solving the homeless problem .
You are not addressing the real cause of homelessness.
Some can't work because their ID has been stolen along with personal belong.
Help them get their IDs back! So they can work!
For those who think people are homeless by choice, this isn't swlways the case.
Vargrancy was always illegal.
We have a right to sleep somewhere!
so i have a nap at lunch time and ill be turned into a criminal?....cause thats going to happen....
It already does, drunks get arrested for sleeping in their cars enough

How dare they make homelessness illegal! Pure evil!! Build affordable housing and designate land for them with garbage service water and restrooms. Be kind most homeless are there because of our economy and there is nothing they can do. We shouldn't have to work 3 or for jobs to barely survive. Fix the problem! Omfg! This is sickening
Stop trashing the cheap apts.
Poor doesn't mean dirty. Show pride in your little home.
this idea that everyone has to live in a brick and mortar place is absurd. It is nothing more than control. Just like the idea of making everyone get a government issued id, government issued SSN at birth.
Yes, it's hard for many people, we have our Government to thank for that, Trump would give to the rich, Biden is trying to help the poor!
They can build affordable housing they can send money to countries that don't care about the USA
Their is all kinds of services from both government and private agencies to help most of them, but as I have seen when I worked for the Salvation Army, some people refuse to comply with these programs and refuse to help themselves. There are consequences to your choices. They MUST do even the minimum or jail becomes your choice.
Like I keep saying America sucks 😮😮😮
I live in California, and the city I live in just recently built a low housing mini Manson, run by the housing authority. They couldn't even get people to move into this place. My daughter is on the waiting list for a two bedroom apartment in a totally different city for her and her 2 children in a new low hosing complex being built that's gonna be available by the end of the year. Since they were having trouble getting people to move into this mini Manson, they called my daughter and asked her if she wanted one of the apartments, but then said it's only a 1 bedroom tiny apartment like 500 square feet, so they wanted to stuff her into this tiny little apartment with her two children. One a boy, the other a girl. On top of that, they wanted her to pay $1,500 a month for it. The 2 bedroom one is only going to be $950 dollars a month. On top of all that, the Mini Manson is in a high crime area.
Lots of older homeless have disability or retirement checks. Those never took foodstamp or local benefits but now every single homeless person will be come a tax burden on jails etc..this will cost tax payers an absolute fortune.
Another thing that makes getting adequate paying jobs difficult is that drug addiction leads to missing & rotten teeth, myriad skin conditions, etc.. At its core, this is almost always an addiction problem.
Most of them choose this! If you've screwed up and end up homeless like I did I went to the Mission. I now havemy own apartment. . They're addicts! I live in Grants Pass it is becoming a total shit hole. It was so nice here.
The supreme Court needs to think about where are these people going to stay. I guess what they can move from corner to corner all day long. That's fucked up
Bring thse people dignity ❤offer free land near clean where source, say the plains of the U.s.a. share cropping with each other and skill tradewithin , most homeless very smart ❤bus out. Let freedom reign, let the white dove sail.
What are you in for? Not being able to afford rent increases.
If we're going to pay for homelessness through taxes, can we atleast pay to help them get back on their feet to be taxpayers instead of paying taxes for some privately owned prison CEO to get richer?
Everyone say use old buildings. We bought 3 hotels at around 7 million 2 years ago that haven't even been renovated yet with over 2 million in damages caused to one coincidentally by homeless
Yeah they say it so fast you might miss it we can't afford the rent. Why is that. is it property taxes greedy landlords. Where will it stop.

If they can't afford shelter, how do you expect them to pay a ticket? Y'all heartless 💙
Evil take advantage of the weak ones to mentally ill ect; to keep there prisons filled for profiteering themselves. Greed will not win.
Real simple solution to homelessness. Create more rehab and mental health services, create a program that allows homeless people to shower, fill out job applications, get clothes. People think all homeless are drug addicts and don't want to work. Thats garbage. Most people want a job, want to be clean and sober. Its disgusting what our local, state and federal government has become

Abolish prisons??? That’s ridiculous. There are many criminals that you don’t want on the streets, a local newspaper shooter, school shooters, numerous chomos, serial
