Jobs - agree with you Charl/Di not fairly compensated here ang manual labor jobs.
College - do not limit college here in the Philippines with just the skills. Schools like XU (ahem diehard) hone the person holistically. Skills is not everything - because most of ‘em can be learned outside Higher Educational Institutions. But the values and spirituality you gain in college is different. You can be street smart, yes, but still going to College gives you way more than ordinary opportunities to ordinary non-college grads.
Another thing worth pointing out and to provide alternative idea is to not just go to college to get a degree. Choose the degree you want to pursue wisely. College teaches skills and enables you to stand on higher grounds than others who doesn’t have the formal education.
If you are a great carpenter, you will be paid to lead the team as maybe foreman/kapatas pero not as high as an Engineer.
If you are a good plumber - you wont be hired by firms as official plumber if you have not taken the Master Plumber Certifications.
His statements are just too harsh, albeit there are some truths to it, would be a hasty generalization it’s bordering demonizing education.
Is the education system flawed? Yes. It is not perfect. Far from it actually, but if you want to get ahead in life, go thru the process. College receipt should not just be a document, it molds the person totally.
In Philippine setting - some lives are changed in college, specially from families where I came from that the role model is of scarcity. And the low income families if not aided by education specially in college will remain to be so for generations. They had to graduate from that level - and the way to have it is being in college. Lahi ang experience in College, it opens your eyes and mind.
Heck if I didn’t go to college, I might be a pilot right now. Coconut pilot or maybe a seaman. (Mananagat). Not belittling the labor jobs, but I could say there are tons of benefits of going to college in the Philippines.
It is also worth mentioning that our Bachelor degrees here in our country are recognizable in other countries. So I hope he is not coming from the perspective of trying to look down on our education. If at all, ours is more hectic and greater quality. Did you know that CPAs here in the Philippines had to take all 7 subjects in two weekends only (straight) and need to pass em all at once? Dili pwede installment but in America you can sit on exams per subject of your choosing?
Bitaw - this is good you are providing insights about other people’s vlog. We are in the era of information overload and misinformation overload. Providing perspectives help the gullible screen ideas that they will allow to enter in their cognitive senses.
Let’s stay vigilant in finding truths, fact checking and screening the ideas that will prosper us, our community and our nation!
I miss you both. :) Great vlog. See ya soon. Hugs to my inaanak.

Over populated ang pinas that is why ma requirement dinhi sa pinas ang college degree para maka trabaho ug tarung. Sa U.S. on the other hand mas dako pa ang rate ug sweldo sa mga trade jobs sa U.S.

Exactly. Due to cheap labor, trade jobs are not so lucrative in the Philippines. Required gyud at least naay college education to be competitive. Heck, even cashier jobs in malls require a college education in the Philippines.

Mao man. Out of touch siya sa realidad sa pinoy. Dili applicable ang iyahang advice sa atong setting. Maayo man ang tumong, bati lang iyang advice.
