Hi, can you do the Asics Ex89 when you get the chance? They are similar in design to the NB 550s, but no one has done a good video yet on its construction/quality.
Technically hype shoes are exactly the same as general release shoes when it comes to the insides. When he chopped open the chunky dunky and the pandas, you could see there was barely any difference in terms of the leather used and just like the pandas, most of the materials used on the chunky dunky were trash.
You must not be a Sneakerhead, if you were you’d know the Forum is a dope fire hype sneaker bro!!! But whatever thats why theres a difference between knowledge and wisdom!!!
hey, its me , they guy that sent you an email about this shoe. I love this video, thank you so much. It feels my heart with joy seeing you even mention the video i sent for the history of the shoe.
Adidas’ skateboarding division also has their own version, the Forum ‘84 ADV. Depending on the season, the materials can change a bit. Much like Dunks versus SB Dunks, the skate versions have better technology and comfort.
@@AeroPrimeOG DAMN! I was lucky to score a pair of the nubuck, suede, and tumbled leather all white and off-white joints earlier this year. They sold out in only a day or two at my local. Ended up scoring a pair on Premier (Michigan skate shop) for ~$80 on sale. Love em. They’re roomier and more stable than SB Dunks. Materials feel a tad better at a $100 retail.
@@AlmostLakai94 for sure! Go TTS, unless you swap insoles. They’re a great shoe. They’ll eventually be skated, but I’m keeping em clean for now. This particular forum model in your video is made with recycled materials so the quality isn't as good but it'd be very interesting to see if you could compare this to the more premium 'blue thread' forum '84 models
@@xeicv they're actually made with different materials. I'd like to see a series on hiking boots. Asolo, Lowa, Mamut, Merrell, Vasque, LA Sportiva, etc. I wear Vasque boots when I'm in the mountains and love them. I was wondering whether there was a huge difference in build quality vs the high end boots and the lower end boots.
This is honestly a great shoe for casual wear. I like them better than an AF1 especially since its not crazy priced, I scooped a few of these on sale for $70.
@@nova-ef2sx I got a pair for 46 euros from my local Adidas outlet. I live in Finland which is not really known for its cheap prices, so I'm pretty sure that you can find them nowadays for like 50-70 euro
I'm with you there. I have a lot of Adidas shoes - Sneakers as well as "real" sport shoes - and I would LOOOVE to get real retro models built the same way like 40 years ago. The shoes of the 80ies had the best silhouettes ever. Clean, basic and functional. Max. 5 to 7 colorways (white/blue, blue/white, white/red, red/white, black/white, white/black and then maybe gold/black, or something like that). Nothing of this "chichi"-nonsense from nowadays.
I agree: comparing old vs. new technology would be very interesting! I am sure that in many cases it will show that "new" is not better than "old" and "new" is just a gimmick to sell and advert more crap. That's why companies are not interested to do it. People who are now a main number of customers on the market are 40-50 year old. They grew up in the 70's and 80's that's why "nostalgia" and "retro" are in fashion. But in most cases product based on "nostalgia" are just slogans, empty words...
I’d go as far as to say that this is straight up “bait and switch”… the shoe advertises itself as one thing, like where you can see the technology in a small part. It once you test it open you see it’s on “inspired by” the look of the retro styles.
I’d say most technology is better, especially for adidas. I know cloudfoam, boost, their EVA, and bounce technology are newer, and I can say are pretty damn good. Maybe it’s not super different when comparing cloudfoam and EVA to the cushioning from 20-30 years ago. But it’s probably better. At least boost and bounce foam was. I mean even back then people were trying to cut corners, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the quality of retros were on par with shoes 20-30 years ago that were considered quality.
Foams and grip are definitely better. But old shoes can have some really sturdy construction that new ones don’t, price and style being equal. If you’re using the shoes for sport then you’d see an immediate difference in comfort and protection. For everyday wear not so much, but you notice the lighter weight and some comfort if your classic shoe wasn’t particularly comfort.
With your knowledge we would all appreciate an in depth video on midsole materials such as the (Eva) foam used now compared to what was used in the 90s I’m talking specifically about Jordan’s but the eva midsole foam is used everywhere today not just by Nike/Jordan brand

Can you do the Puma Slipstreams? Super underrated sneaker, I'd be interested to see how good the materials are compared to more hyped brands like Nike NB and Adidas
Puma does make really good shoes the reason they're underrated is mostly because americans only want american brands even if they don't make the shoes in america.
The leather upper does not seem to bubble up like others with heavy plastic coating, but burns more like the leathers with pigment on them… at least to my eyes on the videos. Also the plastic coating tends to melt and gunk up when scratched with the awl, but here I noticed it only crumbles into dusty ash. So I would definitely grade this leather higher than AF1’s, what do you guys think?
Look the same as the old lower cut Adidas Lendl Competition tennis shoes that came out around this time. Ivan Lendl wore them for years. I owned several pairs. They were the best and most expensive tennis shoes around at that time by far.

Wait I'm confused. I thought that if the leather was plastic coated it would bubble up and that chrome tanned leather was the one that burned and flaked? What's the difference between this leather and the leather of the 550's if they're both plastic?
I got a real nice quality pare I'd be interested in seeing if there's any difference I'm able to see it's a better quality leather but it could just be a pigment leather and not a coating ?
Have you done a what’s inside/can it boot video of the yeezy 950? I’m very curious to its construction and if it’s just another sneaker boot! love the channel and these videos are fantastic!!
When I was a kid, shoes were just... different. Anything they've reissued hasn't been the same at all. Having said that, I'd still rock a pair of these.

I would really want to see you cut apart a pair of air max 95s, my absolute favorite shoe in my collection. Even though I’ve had my pair for about a year now and worn it a lot they still look almost brand new!
Asked a couple times for this one! Thank you sir!!!
I had a pair of the hi tops back in the day. They were so fresh. I loved them
Great work and I agree. True Retro, Restomod and calabs. Calabs and Future Mods with other models like the forum lite 1984. They attempted to add cushion....
I have a pair of Forums as well as a pair of Rivalrys, and the Rivalry is even softer underfoot
rose anvil you need to do a video on the Reebok c85 clubs im really curious to see what you think about them
Can you please do an comparison between the regular forum and the forum 84 and if the higher cost is worth it for the forum 84?
those are cheap version of forums get the 84 forum version or Forum 84 blue threads
I wonder if the Blue Thread also lacks the tech of the originals.
Wait I'm confused. I thought that if the leather was plastic coated it would bubble up and that chrome tanned leather was the one that burned and flaked? What's the difference between this leather and the leather of the 550's if they're both plastic?
Thank you for this!!! You have hit most of the retro 80 designs and I’ve been waiting for the forum!
I have a pair of a dark Blue panda forums and they are so comfy and also a very elegant shoe so proud to have them
I’ve been waiting for this shoe to be featured!
another great video. Have you tried British-made Grinders boots?
When I was a kid, shoes were just... different. Anything they've reissued hasn't been the same at all. Having said that, I'd still rock a pair of these.
When I was a kid shoes were mostly garbage. I got Nikes a few times before I was 20, they disintegrated after 3 months or so. I can't imagine they are worse, how long do they last, a week?
@@excessemail2344 I own 4 pairs of Nikes. Only one pair is real leather. Cant say how long they’ll last but they sure don’t feel like it’ll be long.
Should you ever consider looking at the adidas 4dfwd?
you should try the adidas top ten shoe
Nice shoutout for Nacho Average Finds!!!
How about the sambas they are also a retro sneaker and please compare them to the 80s German made versions which you can easily get on ebay and modern versions please. It will be a banger my man.
Wonder if the Jordan 85 cuts are really original
I was always a fan of the forums. Glad you made a video on them. 😀
Hey, i would like to know if the leather parts of the Air Jordan 1 Retro AJKO are real leather or is the whole shoe just canvas and plastics. Is there a chance, there is coming a Video to the Air Jordan 1 Retro AJKO?
I would be curious if you have ever cut the Adidas Sambas in half?
I would like to see that.
I am into Adidas Forum highs. They feel really well built on feet.
Been patiently waiting for you to do the forum. Finally!!! (First comment🤣) Hello from South Africa
Positively amazing review / inspection.
