Really appreciate your content. I have learn a lot. I am still struggling with various thread manufactures, CP, NCP etc. What thread type do you typically use in a non-metallic application? Thanks

I don’t use any color protected threads. I normally use 2 coats of glossy Mod Podge if I don’t want my thread to be translucent. It works well as a color preserver. I also mostly use polyester machine embroidery thread or 210d/3 polyester thread. The machine embroidery thread is smaller than size A rod building thread and the 210d/3 thread is similar in size to size D rod building thread. Non rod building polyester thread has some advantages but you have to either use color protection or use a super thin 1st coat of epoxy followed up by a finishing coat to prevent fisheyes in the epoxy. I have a video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/EuAdjqtSSJQ/v-deo.htmlsi=xw7fOHy72n4rUXH-

The effect varies a little if you turn the Rod around after laying the metallic under wrap. You end with clockwise on the metallic and counter clockwise on the top colour. This also has the advantage of the top colour not "bedding in" on the base metallic, whether or not you apply a thin epoxy.
By the way, that is the correct spelling of "Colour" in England.😉

That is a good point, I’ll have to give that a shot too. Thanks!
