I was just looking into unflavored grass fed protein powder from Equip, which says it's just grass fed beef. I'm a 50 year old ketovore, lifting heavy & strength training 3-4 times a week. I try for 100-140 grams of real meat daily too.
Yeah! Since having my back surgery 36 days ago....i am on the lookout for more protein sources so timely! Geri
Pre op eating 125g of protein, post op, shooting for 200g of natural Carnivore protein sources 😋
My goodliness! I feel like I'm back in Nursing School! This talk woke up some brain cells!
Pretty much the only thing I buy that is in a package is ketochow and SALT electrolytes! The rest is meat! Thank you for always educating us. Love you two and your channel!!
This information was timely for me. Thanks for your hard work and your educational (and fun) videos.
Dr. Peter Ballerstedt - 'Ruminating on Protein:" Also a great video about the different proteins.
Huh. Interesting topic. Very informative. Another interesting topic would be more info on incomplete proteins. I think I’ve heard you say that pork rinds are incomplete protein so we shouldn’t count it.
Great information, very educational. I learned a lot.
Thanks for this episode!
Lots of good information here! Thanks!
Love this educational, information packed video!! Thanks!
yaThank you for this fun AND informative video. As a member of that Bariatric community (7 years post GS) who's ALSO been Keto LONG before WLS, and EVEN with massive weight reduction has STILL needed to add a GLP-! Rx in order to reduce a small regain and more importantly MAINTAIN 175lb reduction, I ESPECIALLY appreciate Rachel mentioning OUR needs. I often watch your videos and think "yeah, I'm NEVER going to be doing......fill in the blank of whatever quantity of meat based deliciousness you have on your plates! But, unless it's a shared lived experience, most people have NO IDEA HOW HARD it is to get enough protein in most of the time, particularly animal based protein! I MUST supplement with something beyond "real meat/food" because I literally don't have the physical capacity to eat enough in any given day to meet my 64gms/day minimum protein goals. I choose Keto Chow for that supplementation, but I still know it's NOT "real food" and is in ADDITION TO, not IN PLACE OF my nutritional daily needs. The struggle IS real, and meat IS expensive in CA where I live. I do my best.... and I know some plant based folks who won't like it when I send it to them, but oh well, LOL! STILL plan to share it with them, hahahaha🤣 Thanks, y'all!
This but with "iron"
Great information!. BTW, I'm not a fan of the shifting camera angles in this video.
Thanks. There are so many things that are advertised wrong when it comes to living up to there hype ingredients.
Great video you two! I get almost all my protein from meat and eggs however the only protein powder I buy is Keto Chow.
We use Keto Chow to supplement my husbands meat heavy keto diet. He has trouble keeping weight ON & he has sarcopenia. I add exta butter and some Isopure to the keto chow. He also eats Keto Chow Creami. Found 2kk through Keto Chow having researched alternatives to the bottled sugary protein drinks.
Yesss!! I get really annoyed when everything dairy free is made with pea protein too 😖 keto chow core for the win!🎉
My understanding is that the relationship between digestibility and bioavailability is slightly complex. Beef, for example, may actually slow down your digestion. This can be a good thing because it gives the digestive enzymes longer to to break down the nutrients and spreads the protein absorption and utilization over a longer period. Your body can only uptake and utilize protein at a certain limited rate. Something like whey protein powder in a liquid shake, however, may be more quickly absorbed than meat, but that may not be a good thing. It may spike your blood sugar and not necessarily be utilized as well as a protein source absorbed over a longer time period. The point is that super digestibility and rapid absorption may not be a good thing. It would appear that digestion and absorption is tuned for getting protein from meat. Protein sources that are absorbed much faster or much slower, might be less optimal.
absolutely. When you body has to break down meat, you get proper absorption and it actually speeds up your metabolism because of the thermogenic effect of digesting the meat.
I am plant based. I do agree with some of what you are saying but when you do whole food plant based there are alot of options for protein. Example pumpkin seeds has 32g of protein per 100 grams. I am a 2x kidney transplant patient. Drs told me limit meat. I experimented with meat protein and plant protein. My kidney function went down when I ate meat protein went up with plant protein.
😀
This is a trick question?
