The 3M adhesive that everyone is using to repair the lifting door panels is the 3M 4475 industrial plastic adhesive. I very much enjoy your courage. We're in Atlanta via Houston and always use Covercraft window screens is we park the cars outside.
Thanks for the info! I used a spray to get way up in there and it looked like the stuff I used was good for high temp, but it was admittedly hard to get good coverage, on the left side in particular, due to the windshield being there! So I ended up massaging it in there by hand some on the left. I think the 4475 would probably be fine/good and of course not require the masking. Ultimately the thing that made the real difference was the screen strip that provided a mechanical attachment to supplement the glue, as the forces are quite strong when hot! (Possibly in addition to the leather stretching stuff). Thanks again! Good info! -Greg
I have this problem in my Audi, it's only 4 years old, but I'm sure this is a problem in many, many makes and models. I'd like to find out what the rubber appearing devices attached to the dowels, you called them "this guy," at 44 seconds?
That is a sanding block; I bought it at harbor freight tools for $3.50 but any hardware store or Home Depot would have it. www.harborfreight.com/4-78-in-soft-rubber-sanding-block-69574.html. I put in the pens to make the curvature better match the dash. Of course any object could be used for this purpose. Thanks for the comment and good luck!
