  • I love this interior mod. This is something I would configure in my dream car build, if I ever one day order a new Porsche from the factory. This small pop of color inside the cabin really adds to the personality of the car, in my opinion, and really makes the car come alive. It's elegant, it's not too 'in your face' even through it is literally right in front of your face... it's a very special change up to the typically dull and monochromatic interiors we live with in modern cars.
    Big shout out to Tommy L Garage on UA-cam. In his own DIY video for this mod, there is a great segment which talks you through how to reinstall the center tach's needle / hand correctly.
    Also, for anyone looking for factory quality tach faces, or indeed the whole instrument cluster itself - check out this supplier... I highly recommend them:

    Looks fantastic, the sticky notes idea was genius

    Looks Fantastic! Just enough for the cluster...
    Steering wheel: YES.
    Seat Belts: YES
    That should make for a great interior!

    Looks fantastic, I’d do yellow belts too. I remember do this on my XR3i many years back 😬

    I like the idea of yellow seats belts but no yellow stiching on the steering wheel. It will be the only thing with colored stitching. It won’t match the rest of the car and the next thing you know you’re buying yellow stitching for everything.
    I would just add the yellow notch and yellow seat belts. And call it good.
    Just my two cents.

      You know of course I’ve already been searching for alllllllll the yellow stitched leather trim…. 🙄😂

    Nice touch on the center gauge in yellow. I would add all 4 belts in yellow however I would leave the steering wheel as is.

      Thanks!! General consensus seems to be a big yes for the yellow seat belts but people are divided about the wheel!!

    Excellent video, just bought a set from gaugeface and planning to do this install soon. Did you disconnect the battery during the install? Concerned whether error lights would pop up if I disconnected the gauge with the battery plugged.

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  День тому +1

      Thanks! No, I didn't disconnect the battery before doing this job but you certainly can to be safe. I've done this job on a couple of different types of Porsche cars now and never had a problem. I only really disconnect the battery when I'm playing around with any trim that involves airbags or seatbelt sensors and then I wait a good 20 mins or so after disconnecting the battery before touching anything.

    The yellow looks really good, agree with you only doing the tach, doing all of the dials would have been too much yellow. I like the idea of you doing the seatbelts and steering wheel as well, I bet it would compliment the interior nicely.

    Does the swap from the white numbering to the black numbers on the yellow face make any difference at night?

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  4 місяці тому

      No! Visibility and usefulness is still the same.

  • @seandenny1553

    I think it looks good but I think it would look good with all of them being yellow and yellow seatbelts there’s a lot of black in there it’ll balance

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  7 місяців тому

      Thanks Sean! I might give the other faces / dials a try to see what I think. I can always swap them back if I think it's too much.

  • @_LeeTurner

    I notice the numbers where white on taco you pulled out but the new yellow numbers are black. Is there a reason you went this way when you can buy yellow tacos with white numbers to match??

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  7 місяців тому +2

      Great observation!! I wanted it to match my sports chrono which has blacking font on top of the yellow. I think the white font on the tach face would look really good too though.

    • @_LeeTurner
      @_LeeTurner 7 місяців тому

      @@AutoAmateur only reason I raised it is I’m doing the same thing with my yellow 991 (with just the taco). The black numbers look better but I went with the white matching numbers. It arrives soon so we’ll see.

    Hi James.
    Did you do this on your 997 too? DIY similar to the 991?

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  Місяць тому

      The DIY is basically the same the only difference is that it’s all or nothing with the 997. All of the faces are connected. I can produce them with the center face a different color with the rest black or white but they all get replaced in one go.
