The Whirl-Shockwave being a helicopter and having a turret/cannon mode might be a deep pull reference to the game tying into the 2007 movie, where he was a heli and cannon.
I love wild repaints like those in this line. Energon Ironhide from Roadbuster because he was called Roadbuster in Japan? Sky-Byte mashed up with Skywarp's colors? Starscream and Hot Rod as Triple Changers? Brawn from Prime Bulkhead? It's the kind of thing we'd never get now because HasTak knows how fussy we get when certain characters are just repaints/head swaps (cough cough Shadow Striker).
Shadow Striker is more that people wanted a cyberverse version of her, not a her original (and let's be honest here) more forgettable design that's clearly more of a pretool for an RiD toy.
Shadow striker is not a repaint, this mold was made specifically for her cuz robot mode based on her first toy, car mode based on her ROTF toy(wich was a repaint of Whellie) and of course head and colors from cyberverse. I hate the idea that we might get Sideburn repaint from her because Whellie's alt mode does not fit his charecter at all. Wouldn't mind roulette repaint tho.
the starscream redeco of the Blitzwing mold reminds me of that one unused concept for the Megatron toy that also transformed into Skywarp. Also, Cloud Brawn is Brawn if he were drawn by Rob Liefeld.
If we ever get a Greenlight triple changer with a helicopter mode that gets thrown into Hot Rod colors with an Aileron head, just know that someone at Hasbro let Arcee design her dream spouse
Cloud Rodimus actually gives me strong Lost Light Rodimus vibes. That Shockwave is weirdly appropriate, considering that both Whirl and Shockwave were given the same backstory for why they had the cyclops head in IDW. But it's still an odd Shockwave. Huh, I had no idea that the black and gold Deadlock was actually based on something. I had always figured that Deadlock looked the same as he did as Drift, aside from the faction symbols and his weapons. Didn't realize the whole paint job changed, too.
It looks like the Cloud Megatron is a straight repaint of the G2 Megatron which used the Bludgeon mould that came out in the Generations GDO line. That line had some interesting repaints itself.
I actually LOVE Cloud Starscream and Hot Rod. The molds shouldn't work but they do. There was also an Optimus Prime done from Octane that I felt fit the style better than the actual Cloud Optimus Prime. I like the idea of using tripple changers that turn into one vehicle mode typically associated the character and having a second vehicle mode that typically you'd never see as that character done up in their colors. BTW Starscream actually does have a remolded head because Blitzwing had the Animated face gimmick which Starscream does not. Technically that was originally Doubledealer's head not Blitzwing's. As for Shockwave... personally I have always hated Whirl because I just see him as Shockwave anyway. I'm also color blind so Whirl already looks like Cloud Shockwave without even being repainted. Shockwave and Wheeljack have such unique head designs that I associate with those characters specifically so much that I hate seeing them reused for other characters. It takes some of the uniqueness out of it seeing another cyclopse who isn't suppose to be Shockwave or seeing another robot with those ears who isn't Wheeljack. In my mind Girl Whirl is the only Whirl because she stands out as a unique character and she's my favorite character in RBA. Original Whirl is Shockwave. He should always be Shockwave. I just can't see that unique cyclopse eye as anyone other than Shockwave. I don't need to squint and bash my head with a hammer that's just the only character I have ever associated with that design.
The Shockwave.... oddly works for me. Maybe it could be if he was aboard the Nemesis when they attacked the Ark. Telatraan molds him into a Copter because he don't shrink. I think that could work.
Springer as Rodimus looks really cool and is easily my favorite from this small line. I can't help but like that Roadbuster; especially as this guy truly looks like he's ready to break up some roads.
It’s kind of interesting that the Transformers “thrilling 30s“ line kind of overshadowed transformers cloud in terms of people remembering it as what someone thinks of when they when they hear “30th anniversary transformers toy line“ but, oh well.
I repurposed cloud roadbuster and Shockwave as shattered glass roadbuster and whirl. Also, this line not getting a Thundercracker bugs the hell outta my ocd. Considering the molds in play for this line, I've narrowed down 3 potential candidates for Cloud Thundercracker. Classics Jetfire, HFTD Highbrow, and T30 Brainstorm.
It’s basically a toyline where many main transformers characters are repaints of other characters like Megatron ( repaint and retool rotf bludgeon ) Skywarp ( repaint thrilling 30 skybyte ) Hot rod ( repaint thrilling 30 springer ) Brawn ( repaint and retool prime first edition bulkhead ) Unicron trilogy ( energon ) ironhide ( repaint thrilling 30 Roadbuster ) Shockwave ( repaint thrilling 30 whirl ) Starscream ( repaint and retool thrilling 30 blitzwing ) Soundwave ( repaint and retool prime first edition vehicon ? Or prime robots in disguise vehicon ? )
I thought I knew about, or had seen, or read everything Transformers, but this showed me that I am still just a 40 year old punk kid, as I had no idea what Transformers cloud was.
What's cool about the Cloud Ironhide toy is his gun's scope has a male port that's Mini-Con compatible! (Jokes aside) PS. I still have him actively on display with the Siege Selects Cybertron Defence Hotshot (who also has a similar Powerlinx port)! Sweet episode! Keep 'em coming. 😊
Another thing that *might* play into Shockwave being in the line and made from Whirl are concepts for the first Transformers live action movie. Because Shockwave was conceptualized as a helicopter for it, but that never made it so screen. But it did come to the console game as a boss fight and to the DS games as the design for the Recon Chopper body you can use. So there is precedent for a helicopter Shockwave outside of just the console game. I kind of love the Roadbuster and that's the one I want since I have a soft spot due to Energon being my first proper Transformers series that wasn't G1 (even if it sucks). I really want a line like this again, Selects has so many missing good repaint opportunities. One I want to see is Skyquake and Needlenose as Machine Wars Starscream and Megaplex or G2 Smokescreen and Dreadwing due to the combination gimmick people found for the jets. The biggest missed opportunity are the 3H/Funpub/Botcon characters. Like, how are we skipping out on Primal Prime and Apelinq from PTOP Optimus Primal? We know they're still using molds from that era with the TR stuff coming back now and then. Hey, that's a fun video you could do, what you'd do if you made a Selects wave. All repaints only, only retools being the heads.
ROTF Bludgeon as Megs? Oddly, I like it. Feels a bit more "Supreme Gladiator" in my mind. At least, if it were refined coherently. If the limbs had some chunk it would be a great Megatron idea.
One thing that would be interesting to look into would be the other storylines that were proposed before Cloud was chosen: Bravemasters (an interquel between Headmasters and Masterforce with elements of Brave), Transformers Prime: Shattered Glass (pretty self explanatory), and Transformers Part One (basically a retelling of G1 redecoing underused molds as big-name characters)
I still have Cloud Rodimus for my Hot Rod collection. He's alright. Really does work better than he should. Maybe I should have gotten Titans Arcee to go with him. I forgot about Brawn. Dang, I wish I had him to go with the old Seaspray and Powerglide molds. You know the ones!
That Rodimus and Ironhide are on my list. I have the Shockwave (I turned his legs around) I really feel he just needed a different head. But his is my ShW on my main shelf. Fun boy
I don't know if its the right reason but a couple of those molds (such as Roadbuster, Whirl, Sky-Byte, Bulkhead, etc) didn't have recolors aside from regional paint differences Therefore I am convinced Hasbro and Takara are obligated to recolor a bunch of molds at least once to get their money out of it
I'd say that Bludgeon retooled as Megatron manages to look quite cool. Also, the irony of Blitzwing retooled as Starscream. Considering that Bumblebee movie Blitzwing was potentially going to originally be Starscream.
Can guess someone had already said/corrected, but Cloud Starscream is while uses T30 Blitzwing; Takara picked to use T30 Doubledealer head. So basically Takara took T30 Doubledealer and dipped that in Starscream deco and throw in MP Starscream's Null-Rays.
I've seen the Energon Ironhide and Hot Rod from this line for sale on some collector groups, but I had no idea what line they were from or when they came out. Now that I know, I'm rather baffled.
If someone is thinking about putting the transformers kiss players manga through a translating machine, just don’t. Especially if you want to save your sanity.
Cloud Hellwarp: Well, check this... Galaxy Force/Cybertron Starscream didn't have the G1 color scheme at all (aside from a Hasbro exclusive repaint of the Hasbro exclusive Supreme class figure), BUT, Thundercracker and Skywarp did, and they were a completely different mold. So why not?? It's funny, though, because neither Hasbro nor Takara ever bothered to do a Thrilling 30 Skybyte repaint into Transmetal 2 Cybershark (seeing as RiD01 Skybyte was a repaint of TM2 Cybershark). Cloud (Hot) Rodimus: Ohhh, nevermind the whole thing about T30 Springer being IDW...this mofo could've just as easily been an IDW Hot Rod. Huge fumble for Hasbruh... Cloud Starscream: As others have pointed out, that's the head from what would become Hasbro's T30 Doubledealer. Apparently, the null ray cannons this beast has in its arsenal hail from MP11. I didn't know that the 5mm posts were long enough to fit securely.
I'd argue Starscream was much closer to the G1 colors than Skywarp and Thundercracker in Cybertron. Starscream still has his light gray, red, and black head, all that's really changed is the purple instead of orange for the canopy, and black instead of blue. Meanwhile Cybertron Thundercracker is mostly gray, a tertiary color on the G1 design, and Skywarp uses white as his secondary color, which the G1 doesn't use at all.
Emurata, which was an IDW concept. In that universe yes, it was a punishment for big crimes, but it wasn't really devolving them as much as marking them as lawbreakers.
The Whirl-Shockwave being a helicopter and having a turret/cannon mode might be a deep pull reference to the game tying into the 2007 movie, where he was a heli and cannon.
9:20 he’s actually using the double dealer head not the blitzwing one
I love wild repaints like those in this line. Energon Ironhide from Roadbuster because he was called Roadbuster in Japan? Sky-Byte mashed up with Skywarp's colors? 7:29 Much like with Skywasp, I can see him as another bestial clone of Skywarp.

9:23 Keep in mind that this figure came out before the Bumblebee movie and how Blitzwing and Starscream were perceived by the fandom.
It looks like the Cloud Megatron is a straight repaint of the G2 Megatron which used the Bludgeon mould that came out in the Generations GDO line. That line had some interesting repaints itself.
11:06 And BotCon wanted to follow that up by recoloring it in Shattered Glass colors.
I actually LOVE Cloud Starscream and Hot Rod. The molds shouldn't work but they do. It’s kind of interesting that transformers cloud of all toy lines managed to get a hell scream figure in Skywarp colors to exist.
We need a Hellcracker next
The Shockwave.... oddly works for me.
Maybe it could be if he was aboard the Nemesis when they attacked the Ark.

I think that could work.

In reality, I don’t think that Starscream would ever want to transform into anything related to Megatron. And that includes tanks.
It does make sense why most Megatrons are tanks. Even Earthrise and Animated get by this, different class of aerial vehicle.
Wasn’t Starscream’s spark implanted into Giltor?
@@Joseph_Drew_III More like possessed by the Ghost of Starscream.
@@Joseph_Drew_III Yeah.

I’ve never heard of Transformers Cloud.

Iirc, it was a takara line during thrilling 30
Same here I still don’t know
Same

18:27 that proportion is like that Galvatron's combination with Cybertron Image
13:14 yeah that’s shockwave drawn from memory after I’ve been lobotomized to forget how he’s supposed to look
This toykine was awesome. Some of the most creative uses for molds ever tbh
12:27 I thought it was a subtle nod to his 2007 movie game version.
ROTF Bludgeon as Megs?

14:54 I thought this might work for him in Shattered Glass (if he wasn't in shadow).
I even asked John-Paul Bove about it.
That Shockwave really is hysterical. You're right, the only reason it exists is because Whirl is a cyclops.
I bought the Cloud Optimus. One of the best looking versions of Classics Optimus Prime.
That Shockwave is daft as a brush, and I am loving it.
This was the first I’ve heard of this very interesting topic! Great video!
That Rodimus and Ironhide are on my list. I have the Shockwave (I turned his legs around) I really feel he just needed a different head. But his is my ShW on my main shelf. Fun boy

I just saw this line as that one line that took random figures and made them random characters

Cloud was a wild ride when they announced these figures.
That Rodimus was my holy grail for a great voyager class Rodimus... before Kingdom happened.
But thus Rodimus is still great.
OK, I’m just going to call the cloud version of Brawn “fat Brawn”
Cloud had some genuinely awesome figures, I need rodimus and brawn so badly. 😭
Takara are masters at repainting stuff thats not meant to be a thing and completely making it a thing
That roadbuster reminds me of the recent IDW Orion Pax
G1 Brawn is clearly piloting a mech designed to resemble bulk head and only his head is showing outside of the mech.
I think TJ read my "Beast Wars II" comment from a few weeks ago!
A couple days ago I got Brawn to complete my Cloud collection.
Always wanted that Rodimus and Hellscream, they just are priced more than I am willing to pay.
Let's not forget that in arms Micron swerve pretty much Drink a bunch of protein shakes and got fit.
Honestly I think Whirl would have made a great Beast Machines Obsidian
T30 Sandstorm would be the better option. Since he has the dual rotor setup.
Transformers Cloud may be a weird name. But never forget that there's a Transformers show called Transformers Go.
Oh man, i just go T30 Springer, and now Im gonna obsess over a way more expensive recolor
Id love to get my hands on that Roadbuster figure one of these days, however it's aftermarket prices scare me...
in bw 2nd the transformatio into cybernetic animals was because angomolis energy is unicrons life blood
yeah this toyline was cool, i always wanted Hot Rodimus
I thought the cloud ironhide was supposed to be G1 Crosshairs
Cloud Ironhide is energon roadbuster, because super link roadbuster is the first character to use that name in japan!
As a long time transformers fan who has watched and rewatched every transformers show, and been to a TFCON, I have no idea what transformers cloud Is.
19:44 I think this is to date the closest to an nsfw joke we’ve gotten from tj
If someone is thinking about putting the transformers kiss players manga through a translating machine, just don’t. Especially if you want to save your sanity.
I managed to snag Shockwave, Cliffjumper, and Brawn from this line. Kinda wish i found a Hotrod too.
Bludgeon using the Tarn mold in Legacy is a 2023 example of a character being forced into a mold. So I guess this idea isn’t completely dead. 😆
The mold was designed with Bludgeon in mind. Fans had called it from the early stock photos
Japan has so many weird spinoff toy lines that I can’t even keep them all straight.
02:17 Megs with big naturals

Ayyyyy I got the shoutout lol
I could've sworn brawn was released in GDO
Anyone else think bumblebee movie blitzwing was an homage to cloud starscream?
Very interesting video
Didn't Shockwave and whirl get the same treatment I can remember what it called but like they de evolved them into more simple bots
Emurata, which was an IDW concept. In that universe yes, it was a punishment for big crimes, but it wasn't really devolving them as much as marking them as lawbreakers.
Wasn't the actual story and lore for Cloud more sussy kiss players type nonsense? Prehaps it isn't completely tragedic it might become lost media.
Can you do a Plastic Addict on War for Cybertron: Siege Crosshairs?
That toy's disappointing but it's in no way bad.
im getting crosshairs vibes from that roadbuster
Cloud Brawn and GDO Wheelie should team up 😅
friends dont let thier friends take steroids...someone need to have the talk with brawn
Hellwarp is literally a repaint of Skybyte ain't he?
Bulkhide
