Is this guy as strong as an Aberration? No. No, he's not. But he does come with...
- Very good backup ranged weapon
- Doesn't take up a support slot
- Extra command die each turn
- Converts garbage splat command dice into excellent move dice
Excellent inclusion for every list that needs a melee haymaker. Much stronger than 95% of the living legends in the rulebook.
When you compare him to an aberration, they have the potential to do the same amount of damage, the toxic 3 is really strong. Plus the fight and frenzy helps too. Both are really tough units (pun intended).
I would say Blaine is in line, if THAT was the leader we could take.
As Tactician does not stack, it means anyone who takes Blaine is effectively taking a double tactician tax - when most players are paying a premium for their leaders as is.
It's not that Mantic doesn't have interesting mercs or characters in the game, but the fact that they insist on giving nearly all of them tactician sorta makes it difficult for most players to fathom bringing them on the field.
Giving individual mercs a special order which they could use on top of the strike team orders however is fun. We should see this a lot more often.
I think you misunderstood me, when you take Blane, you have the ability to take a cheaper leader, Tac 1, and Blane brings the Tac 2. So you get a strong unit and Tac 2 to back you up. You always use the highest Tac value.
The special ability is pretty cool.
Not having any previous experience with Blaine I am looking forward to recieving this model STL as part of "Blaine's Entourage Strike Team" if the MMF Frontier hits it final milestone goal. Would I pay $18 USD and another $27 USD shipping to Australia to get this solo model from Mantic Direct - nope! Maybe post Frontier he wil lbe available to purchase for alimited time as an STL on MMF ---- maybe..........
I have 5 different Blane models, I’ll just use one of those. Hope you get it in the MMF.
@@familyofgamers777 OK Cool - I did receive a "Warpath Universe Blaine in Peacekeeper Armour "free STL for signing up to the Frontier, so could use as a proxy.
