    Sometimes a piece of information comes along and makes a 'big' difference for someone. This video was for me. I was a fast muscle twitch guy from the beginning, and got onto my left side in a flash. Not good. I've been circling this move for a long time but could never quite get it. Thanks very much Mr Foley. Goes to show that those who s*** canned you didn't have a corner on the truth. Lots of right leg external rotation before adduction in the downswing, lots of 'contained' power released late. Complements Malaska's (invisible) forces that can't be seen with the naked eye nor tagged as 'position'. Great stuff for a 75 year old seeking/needing 'distance'.

    I realize this line of thinking is like trying to think about each muscle involved in walking, but this is right up my alley. I have noticed that Rose is crushing it off the tee with what appears to be the same swing. Someone on this thread wrote that Tiger should have stayed with Foley and I agree. One of the reasons that Tiger went to Foley was because Tiger liked the swing of Rose. This concept of proper weight could be a game changer or it could be more useless golf rhetoric. Wish foley had an online instruction option.

    Sounds legit. Sean is so right about that torque in the feet just like that secret in the dirt mike guy spoke about with steve elkington.

    Leadbetter always said keep weight on Right leg longer on downswing- Patrick Rodgers cured he’d fault of weight on left leg to quick which made him back up at impact just like Foley explained here! Foley has Rose - Champ & willet who just won the big euro tourney

    Ground up...being around pros for 30 years..ground up means getting left side (clear thous hips)
    not about pressure ....today golf YES it is about pressure. which does or doesn't help young wannabe golfers today.
    what works??? i dont know...
    like your videos thou.

    If one watches the first instructional DVD he released, it was all about not allowing the weight to move to the right, and then getting the weight into the left as soon as possible. It was similar to Stack and Tilt, with a few modifications. Here he is talking about how Justin Rose was only getting about 70% of his weight into the right leg, but Justin was only doing the swing that he (Sean Foley) taught him. He seems to be trying to save face with the convoluted explanation that basically says that the vast majority of the weight should be in the heel of the right foot on the backswing. Notice he is still talking about keeping the head centered while getting more "pressure" into the right leg (heel). He cannot come outright and say he was wrong, but if you know what he has taught in the past... Another online golf instructor, predicted what would happen to Tiger (reduced club head speed and injury) under Sean Foley. Sean Foley was not the reason that Tiger was injured. I believe that happened in Tiger's youth, however, what Sean taught him did not help and there was a reduction in Tiger's CHS. Another observation: Jamie Lovemark and Tiger Woods were both students of Sean Foley, both had the same back surgery, and both are now or were being coached by Chris Como. I believe golf coaches are important, but sometimes I believe that coaches think that they are the reason that players find success in golf. Everybody thinks that Butch Harmon or Hank Haney (they do as well) were the reason for Tiger's success. If that was the case, why haven't the other pupils of said teachers found as much success as Tiger? Tiger won with whoever was coaching him. This technology is great, but will it produce another Tiger? Probably not. I for one think it will come from somebody who, as someone posted in this video's comments, who figures it out in the dirt.

      He can learn as well as anyone else. If you see black and white scientific proof of something, you tend to do that.

    It seems to me that what is happening on the downswing is a very effective use of inertia ( lag pressure ) by sustaining the acceleration.

    Excellent video and thank you.

    Maybe Tiger would have done better with Foley if Foley didn't try to sound so sophisticated.

    • @teddys3558

      edmund kim so Tiger is not intelligent enough to understand a bit of a word smith? What are u trying to say?

    • @njtravel
      @njtravel 8 років тому

      edmund kim I agree. Any good coach will simplify their message as much as possible. The best, Butch Harmon, used to say he would act like he was speaking to a 10 year old when coaching so his student could quickly interpret what he was trying to say. If you noticed tigers scoring avg would get better as the week of the tournament went along when he was with Butch. Where as with Sean foley tigers scoring got progressively worse thru the week. One could argue that foley was just over complicating things to absurdity.

      He is not "trying" to be anything, not to single you out, this is an analytical look at ground force and pressure. Of course it is going to be sophisticated, if you want a rudimentary explanation, why are you tuning in? go to talk shop with your golf buddies or your local muni guy, the entire purpose of THIS video is a sophisticated analysis ,

    Foley is a very unconventional teacher of the game,today only two players have a great knowledge about the game and are best,Pete cowen and Sean foley,rest are just narrow minded and clueless at what they r teaching.

    How do I implement that?

  • @A-FrameWedge
    @A-FrameWedge 6 років тому

    Sean Foley we picked up 6 yards, well actually Rose picked up 6 yards this isn’t a NASCAR team. It sounds like the stack and tilt teaching was faulty and now he is learning what he was teaching was wrong.

    Makes perfect sense to me. When I'm swinging well, my right leg feels solid( without shifting my weight).
